SONGS
Read patiently and carefully!
Satan has so blinded our generation that if you bring a matter that is as sensitive as music, they play down on it. You are what you listen to. Many worldly stuffs are played in the Church today in the name of gospel music and because we listen to such, we become more worldly by the day.
I dropped a number of nuggets about songs and so far it has shown that very many believers don't even know what praise and worship to God means. They do not realize that there's a huge difference between praise and worship, consecration, motivational and carnal songs. In fact the Bible puts songs in the classes of Psalms, which were songs composed by specific authors captured in the Torah, as hymns, which were songs composed by some believers but are not documented in the Torah and spiritual songs, which are songs believers receives by the Spirit, and Musics made in the heart unto God not man.
Ephesians 5:19-21 New Living Translation (NLT)
singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ
First of all, you must understand that any song that accesses the throne room and syncs with the music in that realm must pass three major tests;
1. It must be everything about God
2. It must be released from a heart that is connected with God in intense fellowship
3. In line with the written word
Let's take biblical examples;
The songs that can find expression in God's realm must be consistent with the songs sang in that atmosphere; they are spiritual songs.
Revelation 4:8-11 New Century Version (NCV)
Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty. He was, he is, and he is coming.” These living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the One who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever.
In that realm man is not seen....the song must be completely devoid of flesh or human gratification.
See the kind of song Moses composed;
And they were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your works, O Lord God, the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? Ex 15:3-4
Let's see the song of Miriam;
Exodus 15:20-27 New Living Translation (NLT)
And Miriam sang this song: “Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; he has hurled both horse and rider into the sea.” Then Moses led the people of Israel away from the Red Sea, and they moved out into the desert of Shur.
Let's see the song of Deborah;
Judges 5 On that day Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang this song:
2 “When the princes in Israel take the lead,
when the people willingly offer themselves—
praise the Lord!
3 “Hear this, you kings! Listen, you rulers!
I, even I, will sing to[a] the Lord;
I will praise the Lord, the God of Israel, in song.
4 “When you, Lord, went out from Seir,
when you marched from the land of Edom,
the earth shook, the heavens poured,
the clouds poured down water.
5 The mountains quaked before the Lord, the One of Sinai,
before the Lord, the God of Israel
If you also see the songs of David, they are praises and adoration to God.
There are songs of consecration and we have biblical examples like;
Psalm 42:1-2: "As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God" (NRSV).
These songs helps strengthen your convictions but they are not categorized as praise and worship. Are they scriptural? They are.
In fact, what we call warfare songs are actually suppose to be worship songs, God arises in your favor when you worship Him.....warfare song is not shouting Holy Ghost pursue them....No! Your true worship song to God attracts His intervention.....at that point warfare has started.
There's the song of motivation....this songs are not bad but they aren't praise and worship, they are not songs you can use to connect the realms of God. It can edify you, make you feel good but it's not classified as sounds of heaven.....just try and be good with truth. Is it wrong to sing such? Absolutely, Not! But we must agree it doesn't pass the biblical test of praise and worship. This means most of the songs we call praise and worship are not.
We have songs of eternal hope which are mostly hymns. The Apostles recommends that we even speak to one another with hymns. They are songs that reminds us of our eternal hope in Christ and an example of such is the old rugged Cross.
Carnal songs: These are songs designed to grant expression to the unconquered lust and quest for the world in us. We just mix some worldly expressions then add the name of Jesus here and there, mix it together and sell to a carnal, undiscerning and unsuspecting generation. If a true child of God who is discerning listens to such songs their spirits will immediately know something is wrong somewhere.....the carnal will jump at it and even insult you for faulting it.
We are in serious need of a generation that loves and pursues after God not a bread and butter seeking people.
