I had the believe that I could and would do a better job in the classroom as an English language teacher (elocutionist).
I started my teaching profession within the four walls of a classroom, where we have the usual setting of a teacher place a text book in front of students and offer the simple yet daunting lines.
As an educator I strived for my students to engage with my subject beyond a superficial level. I wanted them to be active learners who have a thirst for discovery and knowledge, but reverse was the case,despite all my efforts both my students and I felt the the stress,stresses of getting my students understand what I'm trying to explain.
When I tried to diagnose more precisely where the problem arises it was obvious my students don't have the prior knowledge required .
So during the lock down(covid19)i had no option other than teach from home,it was then I realized how my teaching task was made easier teaching online,making use of technology allowed my students the freedom to discover solutions to problems both independently and collaboratively through different model on their laptops that is seeking for more worked examples, more discussion, around exemplars, breaking something down into much smaller steps and stages.
I can gladly say over and over again that technology has Freed me from my lesson plan shackles, of a truth it felt strange at first but this type of emancipation is addictive

Martha:I didnt leave her motherless In the world Herald,Reverend Gulliver wanted to move the church up north cause of all the trouble the colored folks was having down there,nobody know what was gonna happen traveling them roads.
We didn't even know if we was gonna make it up here or not.
That was better than dragging her out on the road having to hide and duck from people.
Wasn't no one telling what was gonna happen to us.I didn't leave her motherless in the world. I been looking for you.

It still baffles me why native speakers ignores the /t/ sound in these words....is it that they just choose to disrespect this sound😀......I'm eager! I really want to know.

To start with,belittling an individual over his inefficiency to speak fluently is never and will never be an acceptable attitude,but to state the obvious,the basic foundation and structure for our educational system as a country 🇳🇬 is centered on the English language. English language is Nigeria's official language yeah! This doesn't nessecitate the idea of having either a British accent or an American....but if you must communicate your thoughts in English you should be willing to speak with eloquence and clarity so that your native accent will not hinder you from being misheard or misunderstood.
Hence the need to learn accent reduction
