Doyin said: “I didn’t mean cheating was sweet. But if I open my mouth and tell you that I’ve done this thing, move on. If I apologize after cheating on you, let’s move on.”

Asked by her guest how she intends to apologize to her partner after cheating, she said, “Babe, I am sorry, I met this really nice looking guy. He was a lot finer, nicer, richer than you. So, I decided to step out. I was just telling you so that you are aware. It doesn’t mean I love the guy more. It just means in that moment, my urges took over me.

“But now that I am back to my normal senses, I still love you. So, let’s make it work.”

ASIWAJU SPEAKS!! - LET US MAKE THE BEST OF THIS MOMENT

The past few weeks have been a challenging one for Nigerians especially our SME’s, poor and vulnerable masses and those whose very survival depend on daily cash transactions. They have felt the brunt of the combined problems of scarcity of fuel and new Naira notes.

We feel the pains of our market women and artisans who have experienced low sales because customers do not have cash to make purchases. We hear the loud cries of farmers in rural areas and hinterlands who have been forced to sell their produce at much lower prices so they don't lose out completely. We hear every Nigerian dealing with the consequences of the roll-out of the cash swap programme.

While the scarcity arising from the supply limitations of the new naira notes is still with us, we are encouraged about reports that the fuel queues across the country are easing out as a result of better supply to fuel stations. We are now confronted with how to bring quick, sustainable solution, and relief to Nigerians on the challenges still posed by the non availability of new Naira notes, so that social and economic activities can move on unimpeded and normalcy can immediately return to our financial services sector and overall productivity of our nation.

In seeking a quick resolution, the National Council of State met on Friday, February 10, 2022 and advised the government and Central Bank in particular, to push more new Naira notes into circulation and also allow for the old notes to remain a legal tender by ensuring supply gaps relative to infrastructural limitations are bridged by recirculating it to ameliorate the pains caused by the scarcity of new ones. We agree with the wisdom of the Council of States as a necessary starting point to begin redressing the unintended consequences of what would have otherwise been a good policy that required mainstream adoption. For the records, I and my running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima and our campaign council do not have anything against the CBN Naira redesign and cashless policy in principle. We are, however, only concerned about its disruptive implementation and the hardship it has brought on the generality of our people who currently can't access their hard-earned money to meet obligations and the attendant consequences on the informal sector, where majority operate.

Despite the challenges and current difficulties, we are a country of resilient, bold and courageous people who don't succumb to hard times. We have always overcome our most difficult times and come out better as a people and a nation. This time will not be different. We will make lemonade out of our current lemons.

To bring immediate relief to our people, we urge the Central Bank to consider the following:

1. Following the advice of the Council of States, the CBN should announce that the old and new Naira notes (especially the non-withdrawn notes and coins) will co-exist as legal tender for the next 12 months to follow examples of countries that have successfully implemented similar monetary policy. This will immediately remove growing tension in the country, eliminate panic reactions by the populace and allow time to scale up infrastructural gaps around alternative payment options to cash.

2. We advise the immediate suspension of associated charges on online transactions and bank transfers and payments via POS until the current crisis is fully resolved. This cost should be considered a roll-out expense by the CBN to incentivise the envisaged shift to alternative transaction channels; for both the financial services consuming public and those in charge of implementing the scale-up programme.

3. Mobilise all Money Deposit Banks, Payment platforms to show clear commitment and timelines on expanding their infrastructure and support services.

4. Bring in Fintech companies with capabilities into currency swap programme for the next 90 days to help decongest banking halls and ATM points where people line up for hours.

5. The Central Bank and other relevant MDA’s should form an Inter-Agency Action Committee for immediate oversight over the cash supply gaps from the Nigerian Security and Minting Company and deal with issues around capabilities and turn around time to meet the needs of the informal sector and unbanked people.

6. The CBN, National Orientation Agency and Ministry of Information, State and Local Governments with their relevant organs in both the public and private sectors should commence a major public enlightenment and sensitisation campaign to further educate and empower our people on the new naira and cashless policy for better understanding and mainstream adoption.

As leaders, our commitment to our country everyday must be on how to make life better for our people and we are called upon not to waste the opportunity the moment presents to us to ramp up capacity and capability to serve 200 million Nigerians, leaving no one behind and ultimately improve the living conditions of every single Nigerian. Our task now is to restore hope in the country by implementing these steps to energise our people that we can do big things for a better future and shared prosperity. We can build upon this citizen-focused policy challenge to offer a template on how governance should work for the people.

God bless you and God bless Nigeria. We are overcomers.

Communique signed by the Chairman of the forum, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.

Read the full communique below:

ISSUED AT THE END OF THE 3RD MEETING OF THE NIGERIA GOVERNORS’ FORUM (NGF) HELD ON SATURDAY, 11TH FEBRUARY 2023

We, members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), at our meeting today discussed critical
issues of national interest and resolved as follows:

1. First, we express our sympathies and support with Nigerians who are experiencing great
difficulties under the current CBN Naira re-design and cash withdrawal restrictions policy.
We feel your pain and we are determined to employ all legitimate channels to ease the
situation.

2. It has become necessary to make a distinction between the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Naira redesign policy backed by Section 20 (3) of the CBN Act, 2007 and the aspirational
policy of going cashless, both of which are mutually exclusive at this time.

3. It is our considered view that what the CBN is at present pursuing is a currency confiscation
programme, not the currency exchange policy envisaged under S20(3) of the CBN Act,
2007. Currency confiscation in the sense that the liquidity provided to the general public is
grossly insufficient due to the restrictions placed on the amount that can be withdrawn
regardless of the amount deposited.

4. The current approach of the CBN raises concerns about the respect for the civil liberties
and rights of Nigerians as it relates to their freedom to use legitimately earned income as
they so wish.

5. The Forum believes that to deploy a cashless policy and deepen digital transactions, the
best practice around the world is to create a suite of incentives to attract customers; rather
than a draconian approach as we have witnessed in the last three months.

6. The argument by the CBN for what it describes as the astronomical increase in the currency in circulation as the basis for this policy is not supported by its own data. According to the CBN, the currency in circulation increased from N1.4 trillion in 2015 to N3.23 trillion in October 2022. The Bank appears not to have taken into consideration the increase in the size of the country’s nominal GDP over this period, the doubling of consumer prices, rising population, and the impact of the humongous Ways & Means advances to the federal government by the Central Bank of Nigeria over this period.

7. In the circumstances, it is safe to draw either of two conclusions – the CBN data may be
incomplete or in fact, Nigerians may have done exceptionally well in the transition to a
cashless economy.

8. In addition, considering the sizeable informal sector in the nation, the amount of banknotes
created in exchange so far by the CBN implies it vastly underestimated the economy’s actual cash needs. The inability to use the new notes has had far-reaching economic effects, leading to the emergence of the Naira black market, severe food inflation, variable commodities prices based on the method of exchange, and long queues as well as crowds around Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and banking halls across the country with
individuals hoping to get a fraction of their money in new notes to meet their daily
livelihood. The country runs the risk of a CBN-induced recession.

9. While we acknowledge the submission of the Attorney General of the Federation that the
Federal Government will comply with the ruling of the Supreme Court which calls for the
halting of CBN’s plan to end the use of the old currency notes, we are yet to observe
changes in the financial system.

10. Consequently, we call on the Federal Government and the CBN to respect the Rule of Law and listen to the voice of reason expressed by Nigerians and several other stakeholders
including the Council of State, before the damage to our economy becomes too great to fix by the next administration.

11. Members rose from the meeting agreeing to direct their Attorneys General to review the
suit at the Supreme Court with a view to consolidating the legal reliefs pursued by States.

AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.7/195. 10/02/2023.

OGUN POLICE ARRESTED THE KILLERS OF FATINOYE COUPLE AND THEIR ONLY SON.

The three suspects involved in the killing of Fatinoye couple and their only son have been apprehended by operatives of Ogun State police Command.
The suspects, Lekan Adekanbi a.k.a Koroba, Ahmed Odetola a.k.a Akamo and Waheed Adeniji a.k.a Koffi were all arrested following painstaking intelligence based investigation embarked upon by men of the Command, as a result of the gruesome murder of the couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye and their only son Oreoluwa Fatinoye.
The couple were killed in the most gruesome manner on the eve of New year celebration immediately they returned from Cross-over service, and the murderers also set their corpses ablaze in order to cover their tracks.
Upon the report of the dastardly act, the Commissioner of Police directed the Homicide section of the State criminal investigation Department to take over the case and ensure that the culprits were brought to justice.
In the course of investigation, one Lekan Adekanbi, a driver to the deceased family, was arrested based on circumstantial evidence, while investigation continues. The arrested suspect Lekan Adekanbi suddenly collapsed in the cell on the 2nd of January 2023, and he was rushed to the hospital for medical care. But while in the hospital receiving treatment, he suddenly jumped from the bed and escaped through the fence of the hospital. His escape further confirmed the police suspicion of his involvement in the case.
There and then, the Commissioner of Police ordered the State anti kidnapping unit to join forces with the homicide unit in order to get the escaped driver and his accomplices arrested.
The two teams, in compliance with the CP’s directive, embarked on technical and intelligence driven investigation and traced the movement of the suspect to his elder brother in Iseyin, Oyo State, but he had left the place before the arrival of the police.
The teams further intensified their efforts which yielded positive results, when Lekan Adekanbi was apprehended in his hideout somewhere in Abeokuta on the 21st of January 2023.
On interrogation, Lekan Adekanbi who has been the couple’s driver since 2018 confessed to being the mastermind of the dastardly act. He stated that he invited the other two suspects Ahmed Odetola a.k.a Akamo and Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi to come and join him in order to rob the couple. He confessed further that he took the step because the couple refused to increase his salary, and that he approached them for loan to buy motorcycle, but they didn’t oblige him.
He stated further that on that fateful day, himself and his two accomplices waited for the couple to come back from crossover service since he has access to the house and they pounced on them immediately they entered the house.
When asked why the Asatian dog in the house did not attack them, he stated that the dog is very familiar with him being the person who always feed it.
Having got hold of the couple, they forced the husband, Kehinde Fatinoye to transfer money from his account to “Kuda” bank account of Ahmed Odetola, but the transfer failed. It was then Lekan Adekanbi gave the deceased his own Access bank account to which the sum of #1,102,000 (One million one hundred and two thousand) was transferred at gunpoint.
Since Lekan realized that his identity has been known through his bank account, he decided with others to terminate the life of the couple, consequent upon which Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi took a knife from their kitchen and slaughtered the husband Kehinde Fatinoye, while Lekan Adekanbi used sledge hammer he purposely brought for the operation to hit the wife Bukola Fatinoye on the head and she died on the spot.
While the operation was going on, the only son of the deceased, Oreoluwa Fatinoye and their adopted son, Felix Olorunyomi walked in and the hoodlums pounced on them too, tied them with rope and drove them to Ogun River Bridge at Adigbe where they threw the two of them into the river.
Luck however smiled at Felix Olorunyomi when the rope on his hand loosed and he was able to swim out of the river. But Oreoluwa was not that lucky as his dead body was recovered the following day.
Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi and Ahmed Odetola a.k.a Akamo were both apprehended at Ogere on Thursday 9th of February 2023.
The three suspects who are members of Aye confraternity have all confessed to their various roles in the gruesome and callous murder of the family.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police, CP Frank Mba has ordered the suspects be charged to court as soon as possible.

PRESS STATEMENT

APC PCC COMMENDS CBN OVER EXTENSION OF NAIRA SWAP DEADLINE

We want to commend the Central Bank of Nigeria and Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele for listening to the voice of well meaning Nigerians on the exigency of extending the deadline for change of old N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes to the new ones.

Following difficulties experienced by Nigerians across the country from getting the new notes via ATMs and over the counter from Banks, many Nigerians especially requested for an extension of the 31 January, 2023 deadline.

We welcome the 10 days extension of deadline and the additional seven days of grace.

This window will enable Nigerians especially those in rural and remote areas to have more time to change their old notes and avert the panic that would have followed.

We specially commend Presidential Muhammadu Buhari for approving this extension and for his leadership and statesmanship.

In the same vein, we praise our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his forthrightness in addressing the concerns of Nigerians at his campaign rally in Abeokuta last week.

Asiwaju Tinubu didn't take the easy road by shying away from what would have caused serious inconvenience for our teeming masses.

Asiwaju showed leadership and compassion for the welfare of Nigerians, at the most appropriate time.

BAYELSA MAN ABSCONDS FROM MARRIAGE CEREMONY OVER INCESSANT DEMANDS. Drama as bridegroom walks out of engagement ceremony...
26/12/2022

BAYELSA MAN ABSCONDS FROM MARRIAGE CEREMONY OVER INCESSANT DEMANDS.

Drama as bridegroom walks out of engagement ceremony in Imo State due to extortion.

He paid N1,500,000 to cater for food, tents, chairs and a public address system.

He was also made to set aside N100,000 as the bride price that the two families had agreed on.

Biobelemoye David was asked to add N50,000 to the bride price because he had already impregnated the girl.

He was slapped with a N10,000 fine for making a detour to the wrong path and ending up in a different homestead other than the girl's.

He was also asked to pay N15,000 to appease the elders who had become tired of waiting for his arrival.

Drama however ensued when twelve girls covered in loose robes from head to toe were paraded before Biobelemoye David and he was asked to guess who his fiancée was.

He pointed at the wrong woman and that led to yet another fine of N15,000.

The decisive moment specifically was when the elders demanded for a refund of the total sum of N850,000 that had been paid as the girl's school fees and upkeep since she started primary school!

Fuming with anger which he tried his best to hide, Biobelemoye David excused himself to visit a nearby latrine and disappeared!

He switched off his phone and was last seen at a bus heading to Bayelsa State from Imo.
