As spotted by Quest Times, Bidemi's sister and fellow actress, Shola Kosoko-Abina, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the distressing news.

Traditionally, the Kosoko family gathers on the 26th of December, Boxing Day, at their father's place to exchange and unwrap gifts.

This year, they decided to capture the festive moments on video. Unfortunately, the joyous occasion took a somber turn when an alarming call revealed that Bidemi's locked-up apartment was on fire, along with her neighbour's.

Shola recounted, "In the middle of our merriment, we received an alarming call that Bidemi’s apartment was on fire as well as her neighbour’s apartment.

“In fact, Myself, my dad and Bidemi were getting ready to attend another important event before we received the call. And what we got was what happened in the video.

"We were on different video calls watching the scenario, how the firefighter arrived, how her apartment was forced open and how they eventually put off the fire."

Despite the loss of property, Shola emphasized gratitude that no lives were lost in the incident. She extended appreciation to all who contributed to overcoming the tragedy, expressing hope for a peaceful and joyful 2024.

The Kosoko family is thankful for the outpouring of love and kindness and urges everyone to join them in thanking God for sparing their lives.

Nigerian Student Bags 40-month Jail Term For Threatening to Bomb UK University

By Oluwatosin Maliki

A 26- year-old Nigerian student, identified as Somtochukwu Okwuoha at Dundee University, Scotland, has been sentenced to 40 months behind bars, over terrorism threats against the institution.

This was the verdict of the Perth Sheriff Court, it also ruled that the international energy studies student should be deported immediately after serving his jail term.

It was learnt that in November, the court found the masters student (Okwuoha), guilty of seven charges, including making terrorist threats against the university, consequently, he was remanded in custody.

Quest Times gathered that Okwuoha claimed he had enlisted ISIS, a terrorist organisation, to help bomb the university. He also told the university staff that he planned to target the city in a chemical attack.

Sheriff William Wood told the court that Okwuoha’s “presence in the United Kingdom is not conducive to the public good, and I make a recommendation for your deportation in due course”.

The sheriff stated, “you came to the UK in 2021 to attend a master’s degree at Dundee University. You formed a friendship with Fatmata Barrie and thought the relationship could be taken further”.

“When she rebuffed your advances, you began a malicious campaign against her. You sent threats and tried to manipulate her emotions".

“You were abusive towards her and tried to have her removed from her university course. You alleged she was a potential terrorist in the UK and, as a Muslim, was able to engage with terrorist agencies that would visit mass murder and other terrorist offences within the UK," Wood noted.

“The university decided to suspend you from your course and you turned your attention towards staff. You threatened mass murder, and terrorism, and said you would plant bombs and use biological weapons".

“You said you would commit acts of terror in the UK, and particularly at Dundee University".

“One member of staff was so fearful he refused to return to work".

“You were released on bail with conditions not to commit further offences. Despite being barred from campus you repeatedly entered it without reasonable excuse".

“Over a period of nine months you made these threats and embarked on what can only be described as a campaign to discredit, and to incite terror in those to whom you sent threats.”

Witnesses who were called to testify during the trial, told the judge how Okwuoha said he planned to carry out mass murder on the Dundee University campus.

In addition, Okwuoha claimed he had a military background and was capable of making bombs and unleashing a deadly virus.

A witness, Keith Mackle, 58, now retired director of student services, told Perth Sheriff Court, he became aware of “serious concerns” in the autumn of 2021, when staff members received emails containing terrorist threats.

Mackle said one of the email read, “Expect a massive bomb explosion at the University of Dundee. I have contacted ISIS terrorists to plant bombs on campus. I can assure you staff and students will die in great numbers. 9/11 will be a joke compared to what will happen. Blood will spill and flesh will be scattered”.

A campus security officer, Stewart Kennedy, said he received a call from an unknown number telling him of a bomb being placed on the campus and that “there was going to be carnage tonight”.

“I could tell he was covering his mouth to disguise it but I could tell it was an African accent,” Kennedy said.

Similarly, an accommodation officer, Shane Taylor, said Okwuoha accused him of being racist and said he would wipe out Scottish people as revenge.

Church Drummer Disappears, Family Points Finger at Pastor

By Cynthia Johnson

The family of Zachariah Barnabas, a 23-year-old drummer from the Kingdom of Glory Church in Lagos, has pointed fingers at Pastor Olayinka Samuel, the church's leader, over alleged interference with the investigation into Barnabas's whereabouts.

According to Barnabas' sister, Janet, who spoke with newsmen on the phone, he went missing on October 11, 2023, after attending a church programme.

Despite reporting the case to the police, the family claimed the pastor discouraged their involvement, citing various unrelated accusations against the missing drummer.

Janet explained, "He had been robbed of his phone earlier, so we could not reach him directly. He was supposed to return on the 10th. But he called my mom with someone’s phone who is also a worker in the church to inform her that he wouldn’t come home until the next day. That was the last time we heard from him.

“The case was reported to the police station in Igando. The officer claimed the pastor said the police shouldn’t come for an investigation until a particular day when his members would be around. When the family went to the church, the pastor started screaming that we were disturbing his service.”

Also, Barnabas' brother, Israel, expressed frustration over the pastor's allegations of cult involvement and inappropriate behavior.

He stated, “It’s been over two months now, and we have not seen Barnabas. We want the government to help us compel the pastor to tell us where Barnabas is because it was in his care that we last heard from him.”

In response, Pastor Samuel denied any wrongdoing, asserting that Barnabas attended a Bible study on October 10 and left the church premises afterward.

Quest Times further reports that Samuel claimed ignorance about the drummer's subsequent activities and accused the family of attempting to tarnish his name and the church's reputation.

The family has urged the government to intervene and compel Pastor Samuel to provide information about Barnabas' disappearance.

QUESTPICKS: 10 Carol Songs To Celebrate Christmas

By Oluwatosin Maliki

This Christmas is the perfect time to play all your favorite Carol songs, Quest Times picked the best songs to put you in the mood of celebration.

All music lovers and churchgoers, would surely enjoy these songs. Carol is the beloved musical backbone of the festive season.

Enjoy our playlist with your family and friends, as you enjoy Christmas, don't forget to spread love while celebrating.

Here are the 10 best Carol songs to listen to this Christmas

1. O Holy Night

This song comes top on the list because of it's melodic tune, it was written by Placide Cappeau, a wine seller who came from southern France. He was asked by the local parish priest to write a festive poem in 1847 to celebrate the church organ’s renovation. Cappeau felt it should be accompanied by music, so approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams. Adams’ text reflects on the birth of Jesus and of humanity’s redemption.

2. Silent Night

The song was originally written in Germany, ‘Stille Nacht’ was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber with lyrics by Joseph Mohr, eventually it was translated to English in 1859. During the Christmas truce of 1914 during World War I, the carol was sung simultaneously by English and German troops.

3. In the Bleak Mid-Winter – Gustav Holst version

Christina Rossetti wrote it as a Christmas poem, the carol was written sometime before 1872 in response to a magazine request for a Christmas poem. However, the poem became recognised as a carol after it appeared in The English Hymnal in 1906, with music by Gustav Holst.

4. Carol of the Bells

Carol of the Bells is known for its urgent, catchy melody, it's recent popularity is probably down to an arrangement by John Williams written for the 1990 Christmas staple Home Alone. Here’s Katie Melua and the Gori Women’s Choir with the original 1914 UkraiBad.

5. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Charles Wesley wrote the lyrics and was set to a tune by Mendelssohn, this carol was always going to be one of the most recognisable and popular ones on the list. It’s also got a cracking descant.

6. O Come All Ye Faithful

The beautiful song has a cheerful tune to it, although, it is unclear who first wrote the music or lyrics to this hymn. However, it was said that the possible candidates could be; King John IV of Portugal and John Francis Wade, while composers Handel and Gluck were suggested to have been the brains behind the melody. The hymn was featured in the 1992 film Home Alone.

7. Coventry Carol

This carol touches the heart, it can be traced all the way back to 16th-century England. The lyrics evokes emotions, it speaks about the ‘Massacre of the Innocents’ by King Herod, who in an attempt to ensure the death of the baby Jesus, ordered the death of all male children under the age of two in Bethlehem.

8. In Dulci Jubilo

This carol is mixed with both German and Latin text, and dates back to the Middle Ages. Ever since, many composers have been influenced by its melody, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt with his piano suite Weihnachtsbaum and Gustav Holst. And of course, there’s Mike Oldfield’s unforgettably jaunty version.

9. Joy to the World

This hymn undoubtedly is very popular, rather than celebrate the birth of Christ, the text of this hymn represents Christ’s triumphant return. The words, dreamed up by English writer Isaac Watts, are based on the second half of Psalm 98 in the Bible. Due to it's popularity, in the late ’90s, it was named the most-published Christmas hymn in North America. You can just feel the merriness pouring out of it.

10. Shepherd’s Pipe Carol

This carol celebrates the piping of a shepherd boy on his way to see the baby Jesus at Bethlehem, this represents everything festive about John Rutter. Surprisingly, Rutter composed it when he was just a school boy. The melody is sprightly, syncopated and rhythmically taut.
