Why are people are shading Davido for not winning the Grammy?

January 4th was the 66th Grammy awards, and Nigeria got 10 nominations in different categories.

While people like Burna Boy, Olamide, Asake, Tems & Ayra Starr all got nominations, none of them won in their respective categories.

It does seem like people are taking Davido's inability to win to another level.

Well, it might interest you to know that;

• This is the first time Nigeria alone is getting up to 10 nominations at once at the Grammies.

• No Nigerian has ever won the award at their first time. In 2020, Burna Boy was nominated as a standalone act for his album, African Giant. However, he lost the award to Angelique Kidjo. The following year, he won it.

• Nigerians have been going to the Grammies without a win before 2021. Femi Kuti was nominated about 4 times and he lost all.

• Davido is one of the few Nigerian artistes to be nominated for their solo music. Wizkid and some others had won the award previously, but it was based on collaboration.

• Olamide is the first Nigerian rapper to be nominated for the Grammies.

• Nigeria holds the record for the most Grammy wins among African countries, thanks to its vibrant music scene and talented artists.

In all, I think this is a win for Nigeria. It only means that the music art of Nigeria is increasing in global recognition.

And Nigerian musicians have repeatedly proven that they don't need awards to validate their relevance.

Nobody ever achieved greatness by trying only once.

Davido will eventually win the Grammy. And so will other Nigerian artistes. As long as they keep working hard.

Nigeria is still the giant of Africa after all.

Your Facebook name can ruin important opportunities for you!

One night in December 2016, Isabel had a stranger slide in her DM with a rather unusual opening conversation.

The guy started like this: Hello, Isabel. We've been friends for a while on this space, but I recently took notice of you. Seeing your surname, I was wondering if you're Idoma, so I came to ask you that.

Isabel replied, "Of course, I'm from Benue!"

This conversation went ahead to be the most beautiful conversations the duo ever had.

Fast-forward to December 2019, Isabella was married with a kid, and guess who the lucky man is? The gentleman who slid in his DM!

Why am I sharing this story?

Because even though many people don't know, your Facebook name or names you use across your social media platforms can cause you to encounter fortune, or miss a big opportunity!

What do I mean by this?

A lot of people open accounts on Facebook with uncomely names. Many times, they just chose the name because of some random intuition, and not because the name makes any meaning.

You'd see someone answering a name online that could only make you wonder if the person is in their right senses.

Now let me ask you a question. Someone recommended two gifted writers to you for a huge content writing contract. The first recommendation goes by the name Jessica Ndukwe. The second goes by the name Jøjø Sēxy WasRestricted. Intuitively, who would your mind tell you is the more trustworthy person? Even though they're equally gifted and skilled, who would you rather work with?

In case you think this is a daydream, just know that people have landed unbelievable deals online, without having to meet the person first!

Do you think those useful connections could have been made in the first place if those people had weird names?

People have been married to people they first met online. And people have closed deals of millions from relationships that started exclusively on the internet.

Now, what if Isabel didn't have her real name on Facebook? What if her name was set as "Mhīz Pøpcōrn," or "Hōt Chōkø"? Do you think they'll have connected so deeply, and ended up as life partners?

Everyday, people pick very uncomfortable names without knowing that there are implications to these things.

Unless you don't intend to use your platform for business or any meaningful connection at that, you have to be careful the kind of name you use!

Nobody will tell you this, but people want a name they can relate with. They want a name that feels real.

By the way, I hope you also know that your the kind of name you answer on Facebook can prevent you for possibly getting verified in the future?

Wizkid posted about Davido's New Album.

The Starboy himself came out in good fate and asked his fans to go and stream the latest Album from O.B.O.

Wizkid called him, "My Brother."

Meanwhile, the fans can't stop dragging and making mess of each other on social media.

Davido is the one who released an Album, but people can't stop dragging Wizkid into it.

The truth is that all this bitterness is highly unnecessary.

These two men are legendary, no cap. They're bosses in their own rights. Each one of them is amazing in their own unique way.

Why the propaganda of hatred?

Well, I understand that banter is normal in the industry of competitiveness, but some people are taking it too far.

If you see some posts online, it'll be obvious that it's fueled by pure hatred.

You can fan both Davido and Wizkid and still be normal. You can love both, and still not be weird. As long as they both make good music, it's okay.

They're both Nigerians, and they're both Africans. Believe it or not, they're making us proud. So, where's the respect?

At the end of the day, these stars may not even have the amount of hate towards each other that people think they do.

Let's be matured. Let Love Lead.
