MR IBU’s LEG AMPUTATED

The family of actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has confirmed that one of his legs has been amputated.

Ibu’s daughter Jazimine Okafor disclosed this in a statement shared via Instagram on Monday.

She wrote: “Good afternoon, Nigerians. We want to appreciate everyone who has come through for our dad, saying we are grateful is an understatement and only the good Lord can thank you all enough for every help you’ve rendered.

“As of 1 pm, noon today, Daddy has gone through 7 successful surgeries but to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated. This development has been hard on us all but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality to keep him alive.

“Please we are still soliciting for support from well-meaning Nigerians as this stage Daddy is still one very delicate one and he needs all the help he can get.

“Thank you, everyone, the Okafor family is grateful and we don’t take you for granted. In due time Daddy will personally acknowledge everyone who supported during this period as soon as he’s stable!”

On October 31, Mr Ibu’s family expressed gratitude to God and the general public for their support and encouragement, while disclosing that he recovering in an intensive care unit (ICU) after undergoing five successful surgeries.

The movie star celebrated his 63rd birthday in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos on Tuesday, October 17.

He revealed in a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday that he needed financial support so his leg would not be amputated.

On October 21, it was reported that the Bukola Saraki Foundation had paid the medical bills of ailing actor.

This happened after Ibu’s wife Stella Maris put up a video, claiming that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) lied about helping her husband, the statement was immediately debunked by the guild’s director of communications Kate Henshaw who insisted that the guild has been supporting Mr Ibu.

BREAKING: Tinubu Appoints Cardoso As New CBN Gov

* Replaces apex bank's 4 deputy govs

President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso to serve as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to a press statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday evening, Cardoso will serve for a term of five (5) years at the first instance, pending his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

"This directive is in conformity with Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which vests in the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the authority to appoint the Governor and Four (4) Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), subject to confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"Furthermore, President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of four new Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for a term of five (5) years at the first instance, pending their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate," he stated.

The new Deputy Governors include Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

"In line with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, the President expects the above listed nominees to successfully implement critical reforms at the Central Bank of Nigeria, which will enhance the confidence of Nigerians and international partners in the restructuring of the Nigerian economy toward sustainable growth and prosperity for all," Ngelale stated.

LEADERSHIP reports that since the suspension of Mr Godwin Emefiele as the CBN governor in June, a deputy governor of the bank, Faloshodun Shonubi, has been the acting Governor of the apex bank.

Adamawa Police officer weeps as he is dismissed from service.

The Adamawa Police Command on Wednesday tried two officers formerly attached to Dumne Divisional Police Headquarters in an orderly room trial.

Inspector Ahmed Suleiman and PC Mahmood Muhammed, were tried on three charges of defamation of character, culpable homicide, and unlawful exercise of authority.

A viral video on Wednesday showed the moment a policeman cried as he was stripped of his uniform and dismissed from service for wrongdoing.

Gabon military pledges to restore democracy

Gabon’s military leader, Gen Brice Oligui Nguema, has pledged to bring back democracy.

Although a specific time for elections has not been set, it said the democratic suspension was only temporary.

Speaking to the nation in a televised address on Friday, Nguema said: "the country’s state institutions would be made more democratic and their suspension was only temporary, adding that the military would move “quickly but surely to avoid elections that repeat the same mistakes by keeping the same people in power.

“Going as quickly as possible does not mean organising ad hoc elections, where we will end up with the same errors.”

Marriage Is Not A Do Or Die Affair - Yul Edochie Advises Couples

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has taken to social media to share his stance on the institution of marriage saying it is not a 'do-or-die affair.'

Edochie's post is coming on the heels of colleague Bolanle Ninalowo's separation announcement from wife Bunmi Ninalowo on Friday.

In the post shared on Edochie's page on Saturday, the father of five advised couples not to force things in their union, noting that the marriage institution does not have a set formula for success.

The actor, who has continued to make headlines for his commitment to second wife Judy Austin, wrote, "Marriage is a beautiful thing, don't let anyone discourage you.

"If your dream is to get married, go ahead and achieve your dream.

"A few tips can help you have a long-lasting marriage but there is no laid down proven formula to it.

"You can marry someone you dated for 10 years and the marriage won't last.

"You can marry someone you met yesterday and have a long-lasting marriage. And most times the main reason for a marriage crash is not revealed on social media. Only the couple know exactly what went wrong.

"Marriage is also not a do-or-die affair.

"Try your best to make it work, if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world. Wish yourselves well and move on.

"Some journeys last forever while some have to end for others to begin. Love and peace always."

ASUU holds congress to react to President Buhari's expected speech today (Tuesday 11th October) on the ongoing strike and his decision and concessions to end the strike once and for all .

Thursday 13th October 2022:

ASUU National Executive Committee, NEC, meets to decide on opinions harvested at its respective meetings.

* If things go according to plan, between Thursday and Friday the strike should be called off.

* Both sides are ready to make concessions.

Davido Confirms He's Marrying Chioma In 2023

Singer, Davido, has confirmed he will be marrying Chioma Rowland, the mother of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2023.

In one Instastory posted by the flamboyant UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, OBO declared that the nuptials would be next year.

In the video, Adegboyega hailed Chioma as "Our wife, our real wife," and Davido added, "Hundred per cent, going down, 2023."
