*Malicious attempt by Earl Osaro's media team to malign Ehilebo, and a cheap blackmail on Ighodalo*

I have tried enough to refrain from commenting on the fracas that happened at Wadata on the 14th of December when the NWC had a stakeholder's meeting with Edo 2024 gubernatorial aspirants; but, the continuous false narrative from the camp of Osaro Onaiwu, one of the aspirants trying to malign Barr Anthony Ehilebo and his aspirant, Dr Asue Ighodalo needs to be urgently punctured.

As someone who was at the event all through, and as an eyewitness, I deemed it fit to painstakingly set the record straight.

There was indeed an altercation where Osaro was seen to be visibly angry moving towards a young man.

Investigation revealed that Osaro had earlier orchestrated the brutal ousting of two young men from the NEC hall during the meeting. While the fracas ensued, Ehilebo was nowhere seen having a physical exchange with Osaro not to talk of the thug-like attack being maliciously claimed by his media team

I have read the petition written by his lawyers, and with the viral video(s), there is no evidence that Ehilebo had anything to do with the falsehood being targeted at him. It is libellous, completely false and blackmail just to score a cheap political point against his aspirant, Ighodalo, a popular aspirant in the next year's election
There is no evidence that would make one suggest that those in the viral video look like or acted like thugs, and an unbiased watcher will see for him or herself that Ehilebo is far from being in that chaotic act.

A very close ally of Osaro's camp confided in me that his Boss had admitted that Ehilebo didn't attack him. "he only came to tell me that he was disappointed at my action", he said.
While has the right to support the aspirant of his choice, anedible information has it that he has never been reached out to for support or consultation by Osaro.

The sponsored media onslaught against him as seen both in print and social media (being led by "juniorosaro") is nothing but a cacophonous carnad and aimed at tarnishing his hard-earned image. While the underserving animosity from Osaro's camp towards Ehilebo is understanding but unnecessary, it is important they advise their principal to stick to an issue-based campaign, not the bile-garnished clandestine style aimed at those who do not support his aspiration, especially from close allies like Ehilebo. If found to be true that he, out of close to 11 aspirants present, masterminded the rude sent-off of Anthony Ehilebo, a well-known and respected party's youth leader at the national, state and local government level from a stakeholders'' meeting convened to discuss Edo State political matter, it is most unbefitting of a man who wants to be the governor of a state like Edo that has politically sophisticated and diversely opinionated citizens.
The NWC of the PDP must urgently investigate this ugly situation to stop propagandists from milling falsehoods and further spread by social media sycophants.

Press Statement

PDP Mourns National Woman Leader, Prof. Effah-Attoe
…Says Her Death is a Devastating Loss to Nigeria

The National Working Committee (NWC) and indeed the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family is utterly devastated over the death of the National Woman Leader of our great Party, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe.

Our hearts bleed! Our Party and Nation have lost one of our best and brightest. Prof. Effah-Attoe’s death is a huge blow not only to her family but also to the PDP, the academic community, the people of Cross River State and indeed the Nation.

Prof. Effah-Attoe was very brilliant, towering and magnificent in all spheres, but yet lived an exceptionally humble, pleasant, sociable, gracious, compassionate and loving life. She touched lives in many positive ways and made pivotal contributions towards the growth and development of our Nation.

She was a dedicated teacher, politician, author and fearless mobilizer who always stood for the truth; fought for justice, equity and fairness and gave her energy, passion and resources in the pursuit of the rights of women in Nigeria.

Over the years, as Commissioner for Education and later Commissioner for Information and Culture in Cross River State, member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, member of Governing Board of several Cross River State and Federal Government Agencies and Programmes; a University Professor and one of the most decorated scholars in Nigeria, she distinguished herself as an amazon with extraordinary intellectual capacity for leadership and national service.

As the National Woman Leader of our great Party, she brought in an uncommon intellectual aptitude into Party administration especially in mobilizing women for greater participation in politics and governance.

The PDP will always remember her tireless contributions alongside other PDP leaders in the effort to rebrand and strengthen our great Party in the build-up to the 2023 general elections in line with the mission to rescue, rebuild and redirect our nation from misrule.

Prof Effah-Attoe’s death has left a huge vacuum in our Party but we take solace in the fact that she lived a devout Christian life, triumphed in her chosen path and left indelible marks in the service of the Nation and humanity.

The PDP commiserates with her immediate family, the people of Ikun in Biase Local Governnment Area of Cross River State, the Academic Community, the Cross River State Chapter of the PDP and the people of Cross River State.

Our Party prays to God to grant us all the fortitude to bear the loss; and to the faithful departed, an eternal rest in His bosom.

March 18: APC Has No Governorship Candidate in Taraba State - PDP
…Charges INEC to Be Guided by Supreme Court Judgment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no validly nominated candidate for the rescheduled Saturday March 18, 2023 governorship election in Taraba State in line with the Judgement of the Supreme Court delivered on February 1, 2023 in suit No SC/CV/1564/2022.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the good people of Taraba State and the general public are invited to note that the import of the judgement of the Supreme Court is to the effect that the APC cannot validly field a candidate in the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Taraba State, having failed to comply with the mandatory provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 with regards to the conduct of its governorship primary in Taraba State.

Specifically, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the provision of Section 84 (13) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which provides that;

“Where a political party fails to comply with the provisions of this Act in the conduct of its primaries, its candidate for election shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue”

In the words of the Supreme Court, “Section 84 (13) of the Electoral Act is quite clear on the effect of failure to comply with the provisions of the Act and the Guideline of a Political Party in the selection or nomination of a candidate for election. Its Candidate shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue”.

The implication of the Supreme Court’s Judgment therefore is that INEC is effectively restrained from accepting or recognizing any governorship candidate from the APC for the March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Taraba State.

INEC must therefore be guided by the hierarchy of courts in Nigeria and the finality of the pronouncements in the Judgment of the Supreme Court on any issue or subject upon which it has ruled, ordered or given judgment.

The people of Taraba State must note that any vote therefore cast or credited to the APC in the March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Taraba State will be treated as wasted vote.

ORTOM REJOICES OVER PDP TRIUMPH IN PLATEAU REP BYE-ELECTION
..says rescue mission on course

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed happiness with the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded election in Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency seat

Governor Ortom who was the chairman of the PDP campaign council while praising the perseverance and determination of the PDP faithful and its candidate that earned the victory, commended Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State who was the co-chairman of the campaign council for holding firm, the party's structures in the run up to the election.

In a statement he issued on Sunday, February 27th, 2022, the Governor said: “With this victory, it is no longer in doubt where the people stand in 2023. It is a clear road map that Nigerians have aligned with the PDP in its mission to rescue and rebuild Nigeria from the misrule of the APC”, he stated.

Governor Ortom was pleased that despite the intimidation by agents of the state government in Plateau, the people demonstrated their resolve and indomitable spirit in the pre-election, during the election and even post-election.

He assured Nigerians that the PDP will live up to its billings by working for the peace, welfare and restoration of security of the citizens of the country.

Governor Ortom promised that PDP will return Nigeria to an egalitarian society where every citizen irrespective of tribe or religion can pursue his or her legitimate ambition in any part of Nigeria without fear of intimidation or molestation.

He said that even though the PDP lost in the state assembly by-election, "it was a slim margin. This means that our projection is on course."

A couple of weeks ago, Ortom as the chairman of the PDP campaign council in the Federal Capital Territory council polls, led the PDP to victory against the APC which had the President and the minister in Abuja.

He said that with the series of victories recorded by the party in recently conducted elections, "it is a clear testimony that Nigerians are tired of the inept leadership of the APC. And we will not disappoint Nigerians in our resolve to rebuild the country from the ruins of the current misrule."

The PDP candidate in the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency bye-election, Hon. Musa Agah Avia was declared the winner after he polled a total of 40,343 votes.

Avia, who is the current member representing Irigwe/Rukuba Constituency in the Plateau State House Assembly, was closely followed by the Peoples Redemption Party’s candidate, Mohammed Adams Gwani, who polled 37, 857 votes, while the ruling APC candidate, Joseph Abbey Aku came a distant 3rd, polling 26, 111 votes.

The Governor on behalf of the PDP campaign council for the Plateau federal representative seat congratulated members of the campaign council, the PDP national leadership, Governors and stakeholders in Plateau State for the support given to them to achieve the victory.

DELTA GOVERNORSHIP, NOT AN ALL COMERS AFFAIR
- A.C. OKOCHA

Coming on the heels of the recent comment by the state Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, that only God’s revelation of his successor will prevail, a PDP Elder statesman in Delta, Chief A.C. Okocha, has categorically stated that the foremost political office is not an all comers affair.

Chief Okocha, the National Chairman of Ogwashi-uku Peoples Democratic Party Leaders and Elders Forum (OPDPLEF), also stated that as the man who knows where the shoe pinches, Governor Okowa should be supported by party leaders and elders as well as stakeholders to play a major roles in the choice of who to succeed him.

Noting that the plum position of Governor must be occupied by someone imbibed with a proven track record of integrity, resourcefulness as well as the ability to attract even development across the three Senatorial Districts, the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom political leader emphasized that the time has come for Delta to take her pride of place in the comity of states by backing a person with wide acceptance and the fear of God.

Chief A.C. Okocha who decried the attitude of many aspirants who are in the fray just to add, to the numbers, said what Delta needs more than ever before, is a tried and tested personality who will build on the legacies of Governor Okowa and take it a notch higher by clearly defined practical programmes such as job creation, health, agriculture education, industrialization, peace and security as well as sustainable rural and urban renewal initiatives to name a few.

According to the revered elder statesman, Delta State with its abundant human and natural resources, has no business to be governed by neophytes and clueless people in order not to take the state backwards in this fast paced technology driven era where innovatives ideas rule the world.
Chief A.C. Okocha tasked Deltans to take a cue from the caliber of seasoned technocrats Anambra Governor elect, Professor Charles Soludo has assembled for his transition committee. The noted that the composition of the committee headed by Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, was a clear indication of Soludo’s desire to take Anambra to greater heights, without over dependence on monthly allocation from Abuja.
Such a move of the Anambra Governor elect, Chief A.C. Okocha, reminded Deltans is an eye opener to the character of the would be successor ro Governor Okowa if the lives of even unborn generations matter to them.

The therefore reminded Deltans to be mindful of the characters they support to succeed Governor Okowa come May 29 2023, stating that only the best should come forward to be considered.

PROVIDERS OF SUBSTANDARD FUEL MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, DIRECTS PRESIDENT BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that producers and providers of consumable products be held accountable for substandard services and or products sold by them.

The President has also given directives to the relevant government agencies to take every step in line with the laws of the country to ensure the respect and protection of consumers against market abuses and social injustices.

In a reaction to the issue of petroleum product shortages linked to the inadvertent supply of products of foreign origin into the Nigerian market, President Buhari said the protection of consumer interests is a priority of the present administration and is ready to take all necessary measures to protect consumers from hazardous products, loss or injuries from the consumption of substandard goods.

The President directed that in line with the law, service providers must make full disclosure of relevant information with respect to the consumption of their products and that dissatisfied consumers are entitled to a proper redress of their complaints.

PDP Slams APC For Shielding APC Leaders Involved in Importation of Toxic Fuel…Demands Independent Inquest to Expose Culprits

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts Nigerians of the attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to provide official cover for APC leaders reportedly involved in the criminal importation of toxic fuel into our country.

The PDP demands investigation into reports of how APC leaders allegedly connived with foreign interests to import very cheap heavily contaminated fuel laden with methanol in their desperation to defraud Nigerians and corruptly raise billions of naira to fund the APC National Convention and rigging of the 2023 general elections.

It is now clear that APC leaders are frenziedly seeking ways to steal money to fund their 2023 rigging scheme, since our Party and well-meaning Nigerians exposed and challenged their plots to siphon a staggering N2.557 trillion padded as fuel subsidy for 2022.

The PDP strongly condemns these despicable acts by APC leaders which further expose the impunity and wickedness of the APC towards Nigerians.

The inclination for official concealment ostensibly informed the refusal by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, on national television on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 to name those involved in the importation of the poisonous fuel into our country.

Against this backdrop, the PDP rejects the announced internal investigation of this terrible crime by the government as the APC administration cannot be trusted given its manifest predilection to shield the APC leaders involved. Nigerians note the various investigations instituted by the APC government in the past which ended without any meaningful outcome; notable among which was the manipulated EndSARS Report.

The PDP therefore demands for an Independent Commission of Enquiry to investigate all issues connected to the “APC Toxic Fuel ImportGate”. Those involved must be exposed and held accountable.

Where was the toxic fuel imported from? Which company is the pre-inspection agent? How much was paid for the very cheap contaminated fuel and through which banks was payment effected? All documents relating to the transaction must be made public.

Our Party insists that President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Minister of Petroleum Resources cannot acquit himself with his reported comedy of anger, buck-passing, querying of subordinates and attempt by government to use some companies as scapegoats instead of accepting responsibility by exposing and naming individuals involved in the crime.

President Buhari and the APC must explain how the reported 317 million liters of toxic fuel came into our country, got cleared and distributed across the nation to worsen the life-discounting experiences of millions of Nigerians under the APC administration.

Apart from the consequential economic hardship occasioned by the damaging of cars and equipment, crippling of means of livelihood across the country as well as increase in the cost of food items and essential services, the cascading effect of adulterated fuel on our aviation industry can only be imagined.

Sadly, the situation has the possibility to trigger loss of confidence by international airlines in our aviation fuel supply with attendant economic downturn as they would more likely prefer to fuel in neighbouring countries.

Our Party calls on all Nigerians, particularly the Organized Labour, Civil Society, Student Bodies, Professional Bodies and all persons of goodwill to insist on an independent inquiry of this crime against the Nigerian people.

In any case, the PDP strongly cautions the APC and its corrupt government to note that they are practically pushing Nigerians to the wall and there is a limit to which the people can continue to stomach the barefaced atrocities and impunities of the APC.
