*Malicious attempt by Earl Osaro's media team to malign Ehilebo, and a cheap blackmail on Ighodalo*

I have tried enough to refrain from commenting on the fracas that happened at Wadata on the 14th of December when the NWC had a stakeholder's meeting with Edo 2024 gubernatorial aspirants; but, the continuous false narrative from the camp of Osaro Onaiwu, one of the aspirants trying to malign Barr Anthony Ehilebo and his aspirant, Dr Asue Ighodalo needs to be urgently punctured.

As someone who was at the event all through, and as an eyewitness, I deemed it fit to painstakingly set the record straight.

There was indeed an altercation where Osaro was seen to be visibly angry moving towards a young man.

Investigation revealed that Osaro had earlier orchestrated the brutal ousting of two young men from the NEC hall during the meeting. While the fracas ensued, Ehilebo was nowhere seen having a physical exchange with Osaro not to talk of the thug-like attack being maliciously claimed by his media team

I have read the petition written by his lawyers, and with the viral video(s), there is no evidence that Ehilebo had anything to do with the falsehood being targeted at him. It is libellous, completely false and blackmail just to score a cheap political point against his aspirant, Ighodalo, a popular aspirant in the next year's election
There is no evidence that would make one suggest that those in the viral video look like or acted like thugs, and an unbiased watcher will see for him or herself that Ehilebo is far from being in that chaotic act.

A very close ally of Osaro's camp confided in me that his Boss had admitted that Ehilebo didn't attack him. "he only came to tell me that he was disappointed at my action", he said.
While has the right to support the aspirant of his choice, anedible information has it that he has never been reached out to for support or consultation by Osaro.

The sponsored media onslaught against him as seen both in print and social media (being led by "juniorosaro") is nothing but a cacophonous carnad and aimed at tarnishing his hard-earned image. While the underserving animosity from Osaro's camp towards Ehilebo is understanding but unnecessary, it is important they advise their principal to stick to an issue-based campaign, not the bile-garnished clandestine style aimed at those who do not support his aspiration, especially from close allies like Ehilebo. If found to be true that he, out of close to 11 aspirants present, masterminded the rude sent-off of Anthony Ehilebo, a well-known and respected party's youth leader at the national, state and local government level from a stakeholders'' meeting convened to discuss Edo State political matter, it is most unbefitting of a man who wants to be the governor of a state like Edo that has politically sophisticated and diversely opinionated citizens.
The NWC of the PDP must urgently investigate this ugly situation to stop propagandists from milling falsehoods and further spread by social media sycophants.

PDP Mourns National Woman Leader, Prof. Effah-Attoe
…Says Her Death is a Devastating Loss to Nigeria

The National Working Committee (NWC) and indeed the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family is utterly devastated over the death of the National Woman Leader of our great Party, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe.

Our hearts bleed! Our Party and Nation have lost one of our best and brightest. Prof. Effah-Attoe’s death is a huge blow not only to her family but also to the PDP, the academic community, the people of Cross River State and indeed the Nation.

Prof. Effah-Attoe was very brilliant, towering and magnificent in all spheres, but yet lived an exceptionally humble, pleasant, sociable, gracious, compassionate and loving life. She touched lives in many positive ways and made pivotal contributions towards the growth and development of our Nation.

She was a dedicated teacher, politician, author and fearless mobilizer who always stood for the truth; fought for justice, equity and fairness and gave her energy, passion and resources in the pursuit of the rights of women in Nigeria.

Over the years, as Commissioner for Education and later Commissioner for Information and Culture in Cross River State, member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, member of Governing Board of several Cross River State and Federal Government Agencies and Programmes; a University Professor and one of the most decorated scholars in Nigeria, she distinguished herself as an amazon with extraordinary intellectual capacity for leadership and national service.

As the National Woman Leader of our great Party, she brought in an uncommon intellectual aptitude into Party administration especially in mobilizing women for greater participation in politics and governance.

The PDP will always remember her tireless contributions alongside other PDP leaders in the effort to rebrand and strengthen our great Party in the build-up to the 2023 general elections in line with the mission to rescue, rebuild and redirect our nation from misrule.

Prof Effah-Attoe’s death has left a huge vacuum in our Party but we take solace in the fact that she lived a devout Christian life, triumphed in her chosen path and left indelible marks in the service of the Nation and humanity.

The PDP commiserates with her immediate family, the people of Ikun in Biase Local Governnment Area of Cross River State, the Academic Community, the Cross River State Chapter of the PDP and the people of Cross River State.

Our Party prays to God to grant us all the fortitude to bear the loss; and to the faithful departed, an eternal rest in His bosom.

March 18: APC Has No Governorship Candidate in Taraba State - PDP
…Charges INEC to Be Guided by Supreme Court Judgment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no validly nominated candidate for the rescheduled Saturday March 18, 2023 governorship election in Taraba State in line with the Judgement of the Supreme Court delivered on February 1, 2023 in suit No SC/CV/1564/2022.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the good people of Taraba State and the general public are invited to note that the import of the judgement of the Supreme Court is to the effect that the APC cannot validly field a candidate in the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Taraba State, having failed to comply with the mandatory provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 with regards to the conduct of its governorship primary in Taraba State.

Specifically, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the provision of Section 84 (13) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which provides that;

“Where a political party fails to comply with the provisions of this Act in the conduct of its primaries, its candidate for election shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue”

In the words of the Supreme Court, “Section 84 (13) of the Electoral Act is quite clear on the effect of failure to comply with the provisions of the Act and the Guideline of a Political Party in the selection or nomination of a candidate for election. Its Candidate shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue”.

The implication of the Supreme Court’s Judgment therefore is that INEC is effectively restrained from accepting or recognizing any governorship candidate from the APC for the March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Taraba State.

INEC must therefore be guided by the hierarchy of courts in Nigeria and the finality of the pronouncements in the Judgment of the Supreme Court on any issue or subject upon which it has ruled, ordered or given judgment.

The people of Taraba State must note that any vote therefore cast or credited to the APC in the March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Taraba State will be treated as wasted vote.
