UPDATE: Why I Slapped Ebele Obiano --- Bianca Ojukwu Explains As She Accuses Immediate Past First Lady Of Drinking Whisky
Bianca Ojukwu has given a reason why she gave the immediate past first lady of Anambra state, Ebele Obiano, a dirty slap.
Bianca and Ebele made news on Thursday, March 17, when they had a scuffle during the inauguration of Charles Soludo as the new governor of Anambra state. In a viral video, Bianca gave Ebele a slap after the latter left her seat to insult her. Mrs. Obiano who was left ruffled after her scuffle with Bianca was also filmed on camera calling Bianca ''Ashawo''.
In an interview with Arise TV, Bianca who is the wife of late Odumegwu Ojukwu, said Ebele was noticeably absent as the inauguration ceremony started. Bianca said Ebele then arrived an hour later.
''I didn't pay any attention to her arrival. Surprisingly, she then walked towards me and I thought she was coming to greet me. Instead she verbally attacked me with her voice raised, taunting me and asking me what I was there to do, using unprintable, vile language.
She asked if I had come to celebrate their last day in office but I ignored her completely. Then she kept on aggressively putting her hand on my shoulders and shouting.
While I ignored her verbal onslaught as advised by people sitting around me, I requested twice that she refrains from touching me with her hands. She proceeded to do so yet again and tried to touch my head and remove my headtie. It was at this point I stood up to defend myself and gave her a dirty slap to stop her from attacking me. As she made towards me, I den pulled away her wig, she then held on to her wig with her two hands and tried to take the wig away from me.
The former APGA chairman, Umeh, told her to leave me and told everyone to leave. I was stunned by the stench of whisky in her breath at such an early hour of the day.
How could the first lady be so drunk at that time? I stayed back to watch the ceremony till the end and left with my dignity intact''.

UPDATE: Nnamdi Kanuâs Detention While Boko Haram Gets VIP Treatment, Provocative ---- Afenifere, Ohanaeze, Others Roar
The Southern and Middle Belt Leadersâ Forum, SMBLF, has called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB.
SMBLF said the federal government was openly displaying double standards by Kanuâs continued detention.
The group noted that Kanuâs continuous detention and trial was provocative, while Boko Haram terrorists get VIP treatment.
SMBLF made the call in a communiquĂ© jointly signed by the leaders of Yorubaâs Afenifere, Igboâs Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Middle Belt Forum, and the Pan Niger Delta Forum, after a meeting in Abuja.
The communique reads partly;
âThe continued detention and trial of Nnamdi Kanu on charges of terrorism and treasonable felony while known Boko Haram terrorists are being given VIP treatments and hosted in Government Houses is not only provocative and perfidious but a bizarre double standard on the part of the Nigerian State.
âWe demand, in national interest, the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu and a stop to any further persecution of Sunday Igboho, who is currently on a conditional release in Benin Republic.â
Kanu has been locked up by the Department of State Services, DSS, since June 2021 after he was "illegally renditioned" to Nigeria from East African country, Kenya.

UPDATE: Bandits Abduct Many In President Buhari's Home-State
No less than 11 persons mostly elderly women have been abducted by gunmen at Shinfida Village in Jibia local government area of Katsina state.
They were abducted on their way to join other residents, who earlier ran to a refugee camp for safety after their village came under attack by a group of gunmen suspected to be bandits.
According to Channels Television, the assailants invaded the village on Friday night.
It was learnt that those kidnapped lacked the capacity to leave at the time most residents fled to safety due to their physical strength and some health conditions.
A villager recounted that having carried out the invasion on Friday night, the assailants planned to set the entire village of Shinfida on fire at about 7am on Saturday.
He called on the relevant authorities to come to the aid of the people, including sending security personnel to the village to protect the residents and salvage what could be left of their properties.
On Friday, seven children were killed, and several others injured in a stampede while residents fled Shinfida Village following an attack by bandits.
Although the police authorities in Katsina have yet to confirm the incident, a resident of the area Abdulrazak Ahmad said the attack occurred on Thursday.
He blamed the incident on the evacuation and withdrawal of soldiers serving in a joint security task force from the area.
Ahmad said the withdrawn soldiers were initially stationed at the Government Secondary School in Shinfida â about 27 kilometres from Jibia town.
Bandits have attacked several communities in Katsina recently, one of which claimed the lives of two security personnel in Jibia Local Government Area.

UPDATE: A Butterfly Can't Be A Bird --- Kanu's Brother Tells 'Sponsored Persons' Claiming IPOB Leader Was Replaced
The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Saturday, warned alleged 'sponsored persons' to desist from attempting to create problems.
EWN reports that Kingsley Kanunta Kanu, Nnamdi Kanuâs brother, while reacting to unfounded claims that Kanu had been replaced as the leader of the foremost Biafran movement, said his elder brother is âThe Only Leaderâ of IPOB.
False reports purportedly propagated by a Finland-based social media broadcaster, Simon Ekpa had claimed that Kanu was removed as the director of IPOB and replaced with one Sofia Chinyere Kalu.
Findings suggested that Sofia Kalu is the groupâs financial secretary in the UK.
In a similar claim by Ezeji Chukwuma, a separatist who manages IPOB and Radio Biafra Community Interest Companies, CIC Registry in London, UK, Sofia Kalu is the new director of IPOB worldwide.
But IPOBâs spokesman, Emma Powerful, had described claims of Kanuâs removal as a mere gossip, long discredited.
Reacting, Kanunta in a tweet, wrote; â is the ONLY leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).
âWe should learn to address issues and not to create one because weâve lost men in this struggle, and we are still losing men.
âA butterfly can never call itself a bird. Biafra is a spirit.â

UPDATE: You Are At Risk Of Capture Or Death --- US Warns Citizens Hopeful Of Joining Ukrainian Forces Against Russia
United States of America has warned that its citizens who hoped to join the Ukrainian forces in the war against Russia, may be captured or killed.
According to the US, its citizens who travel to Ukraine to be able to fight alongside the Ukrainian forces might be treated by Russians as âmercenariesâ or foreign fighters.
EWN can report that the State Department spokesperson, Ned Price said this during a press briefing on Friday.
The spokesperson while recalling that Russia had already stated this, added that the Russian position puts the US fighters at a greater risk of mistreatment.
He said;
âUS citizens who travel to Ukraine, especially with the purpose of participating and fighting there, they face significant risks, including the very real risk of capture or death."
âThe United States, as you know, is not able to provide assistance to evacuate US citizens from Ukraine, including those Americans who may decide to travel to Ukraine to participate in the ongoing war,â Price said.
The State Department further said that US citizens can only assist Ukraine constructively by providing humanitarian assistance.
âWe continue to urge US citizens not to travel to Ukraine for their safety, regardless of the underlying purpose,â he said.

UPDATE: You Shall Not Be Removed From Office --- Ebonyi High Court Assures Umahi, Deputy In Latest Ruling
Ebonyi state high court on Friday, declared that the state governor, Dave Umahi and deputy will not be removed from office, EWN reports.
The court in the latest ruling, granted a renewable 7-day interim order in favor of Umahi and deputy against a subsisting judgement delivered by an Abuja federal high court on 8th March, 2022.
According to the Ebonyi state high court, its Friday ruling was in view of its earlier judgement in suit no. HAB/13/22 delivered on the 28th day of February 2022.
EWN recalls that in a ruling on February 28, 2022, Justice Henry Njoku of the Ebonyi state high court ruled that Governor Umahi and his deputy did not flout any law by defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The court had dismissed the matter for lacking in merit and fined the plaintiff, Sunny Ogbuoji, who was the APC candidate and runner-up in the 2019 governorship election N500,000.
But, on March 8th, a federal high court in Abuja declared as illegal Umahiâs claim to the governorship seat after he defected from the PDP to the APC. The court also asked the PDP to nominate a replacement.
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo further ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to accept new nominations for the two positions from the PDP and give them certificates of return required for them to be sworn in as governor and deputy.
However, Umahi openly rejected the courtâs ruling, vowing never to obey it.
To this effect, the duo approached the Ebonyi high court, praying the court to declare that its judgement of the 28th February 2022 on their defection to APC remains valid as a judgement in rem and as such should have precedence over any other contrary judgement and should be binding on all parties, persons and authorities.
In his ruling, Justice Henry Njoku granted the prayers sought by the duo and adjourned the matter to March 16 for a hearing on the motion on notice.
He declared;
âIt is hereby ordered as follows, an interim order of this honourable court for seven days (subject to renewal) is hereby granted in view of the judgement in suit no. HAB/13/22 delivered on the 28th day of February 2022, being a judgement in rem and having precedence over any contrary judgement.
âThe applicants hereto Engr David Nweze Umahi and Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe shall accordingly remain and not be removed from office as governor and deputy governor of Ebonyi state respectively.â

UPDATE: Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB Under âAttackâ For Enlisting âChild Soldierâ Into ESN
Pro-Biafra movement, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and its global leader, Nnamdi Kanu have been criticized for enlisting a âchild soldierâ into the Eastern Security Network, ESN.
IPOB antagonists, including Uche Mefor, Kanuâs former deputy, accused Kanu and IPOB of criminalizing the struggle for Biafra by enlisting a child soldier into ESN.
A video surfaced online of a young boy armed with AK-47 ammunition and displaying his shooting skills in a training camp believed to be ESN.
Reacting to the trending video, Mefor accused Kanu of âgoing wholesale into criminality.â
In a Facebook post, the former IPOB deputy leader accused Kanu of âdestroying all compelling cases against the Nigeria government at the International Criminal Court, ICC.
âSo, it has also got to the level of enlisting âchild soldierâ? Is this conscription or abduction? IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu (IPONK) has completely destroyed the goodwill garnered over the years through the painstaking effort of men and women of goodwill that embraced the good news and the insurmountability and audacity of the Biafra case and argument.
âYou have all destroyed the compelling case against Nigeria at the ICC. Crime against humanity and individual criminal liability are real and engage the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC). IPOB must stop criminalizing the Biafra struggle,â he said.

JUST IN: DIG Joseph Egbunike Dies, Police Authorities Keep Mute
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Joseph Egbunike has died, but most worrisome, is the silence of the Nigerian police authorities, almost 24 hours after Joseph's death, EWN reports.
A relative of the deceased, who asked not to be named, confirmed the officer's death to newsmen, Wednesday.
According to him, Egbunike died Tuesday evening at the National Hospital in Abuja where he had been taken to after showing serious signs of ill-health, two days ago.
EWN reports that Egbunike headed the panel set up by the police to investigate the embattled and now-detained deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari over the latterâs links with the international fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi. His death may not be unconnected to alleged secret findings at his disposal following the investigation.
The police is, however, yet to announce the death and the police spokesperson could not be reached, Wednesday morning, sparking claims the police authorities may be in the know of the cause of Egbunike's death.

BREAKING: Biden Releases 30 Million Oil Barrels From US Petroleum Reserves To Cushion Effects Of Oil Price Hike
US president, Joe Biden has announced a release of 60 million barrels of oil --- half of which will come from the US Petroleum Reserves as the country battles to slow down the effects of the global oil price hike, EWN reports.
The president, Tuesday, said;
"This decision today is not without costs here at home. Putinâs war is already hurting American families at the pump â and this will drive up costs further. So, I will take every step we can to minimize Putinâs price hike here at home.
"In coordination with our partners, we have already announced a collective release of 60 million barrels of oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reservesâ half of that from the United States. Weâre taking steps to ensure a reliable supply of global energy. And weâre going to keep working with every tool at our disposal to protect American families and businesses.
"Let me say to the oil and gas companies and finance firms that back them: We understand that Putinâs war against the people of Ukraine is causing prices to rise. But that is no excuse for excess price increases, or padding profits, or any kind of effort to exploit this situation."

UPDATE: US Bans Importation Of Russian Oil As Oil Prices Soar
President Joe Biden of Unites States, on Tuesday, announced a ban on US imports of Russian oil, in his administrationâs most far-reaching action yet, to punish Moscow for its military exercise in Ukraine.
âWeâre banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy. That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at US ports and the American people will deal another powerful blow to (President Vladimir) Putin,â Biden said in an address from the White House, adding that the decision was taken âin close consultationâ with allies.
EWN reports that the ban is coming after days oil prices soared globally.
The ban came with Democrats threatening legislation to force Bidenâs hand, despite the likely impact on already soaring gas prices.

BREAKING: You Can't Continue To Govern Ebonyi State After Your Defection From PDP ---- Court Sacks Ebonyi Governor, Umahi, Deputy
The federal high court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, said it was illegal for the governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi and his deputy to continue to preside over the leadership affairs of the state after both defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
EWN reports that the court also sacked the duo following their defection from the PDP, to the APC.
The court, in a judgement that was delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, held that the total number of 393,042 votes Governor Umahi secured during the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Ebonyi state, belonged to the PDP and same could not be legally transferred to the APC.
According to the court, having defected to the APC, both Umahi and his deputy, not only jettisoned the PDP, but also the votes that belonged to it.
It held that going by the outcome of the governorship election, the office of the governor and deputy governor in Ebonyi state, âbelong to the Plaintiff and no other political party.â
âThere is no constitutional provision that made the ballot transferrable from one party to the other.â
It held that the PDP was bound to retain the votes and mandate that was given to it by electorates in Ebonyi state, as both governor Umahi and his deputy could not validly transfer same to APC.
The court, therefore, ordered both Umahi and Igwe to immediately vacate their positions.
It ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately receive from the PDP, names of persons to replace Umahi and his deputy, or in the alternative, conduct a fresh gubernatorial election in Ebonyi state in line with section 177(c) of the 1999 constitution, as amended.
The court further restrained both Umahi and Igwe from further parading themselves as governor or deputy governor of Ebonyi state.
The judgement followed a suit filed by the PDP before the federal high court.
