*Electoral Body, INEC Failed To Investigate APC Members, Apologists Infiltrating Its Staff In Imo State – Coalition Of Civil Societies*

By Sahara Reporters (October 31, 2023)

The coalition, including Southeast-based coalition of Democracy and Human Rights Organisations and the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) in a joint press conference in Enugu State, said that available pieces of evidence and realities suggest that INEC did not plan to organise an election that was free, fair and credible.

A coalition of civil society organisations has alleged that there is a plot by some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate results in the favour of the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma in the November 11, 2023, Governorship polls.

The Chairman, Intersociety Board of Trustees, Emeka Umeagbalasi, who addressed the press conference, said INEC’s failure to “thoroughly investigate allegations that APC apologists and top officials’ relatives are made senior INEC officials in Imo and South-East including National Commissioners” raised a question

The conference was tagged: "Nov 11, 2023, Imo Governorship Poll: Is INEC Truly Organizing Free, Fair, Secured And Credible Election Or Planning To Harvest And Write Results For The Incumbent?"

The civil societies said, “Our letter to Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police was also dated Monday, Sept 25, 2023 (submitted by our lawyers and received same day) and captioned: “To Ensure Participatory, Free, Fair, Credible And Secured Nov 11, 2023 Imo Governorship Election: Time Has Come To Transfer Senior Police Officers In Imo State And Zone 9 Police Commands And Disarm And Demobilize The Imo State Government Ebubeagu Militias And Armed Others“

“We also wrote the Director General of DSS, dated Sept 25, 2023 (submitted by our lawyers and received same day) and captioned “To Ensure Participatory, Free, Fair, Credible And Secured Nov 11, 2023 Imo Governorship Election: Time Has Come To Transfer The Imo State DSS Director And Other Principal Officers Including The State’s 27 LGAs’ Operational Officers-in-Charge And Offer Credible Intelligence And Assist Lawful Law Enforcement Operations Friendly To Public Security And Safety And Popular And Secured Voting In The State’s Crucial Governorship Election Fixed For Nov 11, 2023”

critics to have dated back to the former’s service days at the Anti Fraud Unit at Milverton, Lagos State. The closeness became so pronounced that during DIG Frank Mba’s recent elevation to the post of a DIG, he was jointly decorated with his new rank by Gov Hope Uzodinma and IGP Kayode Agbetokun. Pictorial evidence of same also trended widely on social, print and electronic media.

“Critics are deeply concerned that the closeness is likely to have a negative impact on the outcome of the Nov 11, 2023 Imo Governorship Poll including undermining its independence and credibility. We have also been reliably informed that the Owerri Tiger Base of the Nigeria Police IRT under the command of one Chukwuka Dibia and the State Police Command’s Anti Cultism under the command of one Oladimeji have become a willing tool recklessly and indiscriminately used to hunt down and haunt political opponents of the State incumbent; all targeted at undermining the safety, popularity and credibility of the Poll.”

A coalition of civil society organisations has alleged that there is a plot by some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate results in the favour of the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma in the November 11, 2023, Governorship polls.

Bamboo Replacing Steel Reinforcement For Building and The Imminent Danger in The Tropics [Nigeria as case study]

[Brought to you by Outstanding Crew ]

There is no doubt about the usefulness of bamboo in the building construction industry.
There are various reasons why bamboo is used for building construction in the tropics.

Bamboo can be used in concrete as reinforcements. Bamboo Reinforced concrete has been around for quite sometime now. It has not become commonplace due to lack of research and established standards making it difficult for architects and engineers to specify it.

• Sustainability: Bamboo is a renewable resource that grows much faster than trees used for wood or the minerals used to produce steel.

• Low Carbon Footprint: The production of steel involves significant carbon emissions, while bamboo has a lower environmental impact.

• Lightweight: Bamboo is lighter than steel, making transportation and construction easier in certain areas.

• Cost-Effective: Bamboo can be more cost-effective than steel in regions where it's readily available.

Bamboo and steel have different mechanical properties. Steel typically has higher tensile and compressive strength compared to bamboo.

• Tensile Strength:
• Steel: Steel is known for its high tensile strength, making it a strong material for applications where tension forces are significant.

• Bamboo: Bamboo has lower tensile strength compared to steel, which means it is less suitable for applications where materials need to resist stretching or pulling forces.

• Compressive Strengthhere are also potential dangers in using bamboo for construction in Africa::

• Steel: Steel has a high compressive strength, making it ideal for applications where materials must withstand crushing or squeezing forces.

• Bamboo: Bamboo has a good compressive strength for its weight, but it's generally lower than steel. Bamboo's strength in compression can vary depending on factors like species, age, treatment and processing.

The choice between bamboo and steel depends on the specific application and the forces it will experience. While steel is a more robust and versatile material, bamboo can be a sustainable and cost-effective choice for certain applications, especially in construction and furniture where its unique properties are leveraged effectively.

You cannot compare steel and bamboo reinforcement for the following reasons below

• Durability: Bamboo is susceptible to rot and insect damage, which can reduce its lifespan if not properly treated.

• Lack of Standards: In many regions, there may be a lack of standards and guidelines for using bamboo in construction, leading to potential safety issues.

• Limited Strength: Bamboo may not be suitable for heavy-duty applications or high-rise buildings.

• Fire Risk: Bamboo is flammable, and in areas prone to wildfires or with poor fire safety meaIsures, this can be a significant risk.

Ultimately, the choice between bamboo and steel for construction reinforcement in Nigeria should be made with careful consideration of the local context and the specific requirements of the project.

Remember, we lack due dilligence, procedures, standards and equipments for treatment and processing to uptimize the potentials of bamboo. Be carefully, do not join the band wagon because of cost.

6 Major Findings about Tinubu from the CSU Documents

By Farooq Kperogi

Both pro- and anti-Tinubu news outlets and blogs are selectively reporting the documents that Chicago State University handed over to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday. Here are 6 non-partisan tidbits I discovered from poring over them:

1. Chicago State University’s Office of the Registrar affirmed that Bola A. Tinubu indeed attended the university “from August 1977 through June 1979” and was “awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Honors on June 22, 1979.”

The registrar also swore to this under oath. The penalty for lying under oath in America can be steep. It is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

This information is consistent with my September 2, 2023, column titled, “Tinubu Definitely Graduated from Chicago State University.”

2. The certificate (we call it “diploma” in the US) that Tinubu submitted to INEC is inconsistent with the certificates CSU issued in 1979 and subsequently, indicating that Tinubu forged his. (In the US, diplomas are mere ceremonial documents that most employers don’t ask for. Transcripts directly from universities are the usual ways to verify attendance and graduation.)

Although he did legitimately graduate from Chicago State University in 1979, he obviously lost his certificate and, instead of applying for a replacement, decided to forge it.

That strikes me as mysterious self-harm. It costs only $26 to get a replacement diploma from CSU. But it takes between eight and 10 weeks to receive it after filling out the Diploma Replacement Order Form.

My guess is that, in the typical last-minute, fire-brigade approach to things among Nigerian elites, Tinubu didn’t plan ahead and didn't have enough time to apply for his replacement diploma from CSU to meet INEC's deadline and decided to visit Lagos’ infamous “Oluwole” for a counterfeit replacement.

3. The Southwest College transcript that Tinubu used to get admitted to Chicago State University belongs to a female. I had questioned the authenticity of the transcript because of the many errors in it, such as the date and social security number. We await what CSU has to say about this.

This reality, though, seems to validate uncorroborated but long-standing whispers from the grapevine that Tinubu, who was allegedly born Lamidi Amoda [Yoruba Muslim domestication of Abdulhamid Ahmed] Sangodele in Osun State’s Iragbiji, stole the identity of a female Bola Adekunle Tinubu to go to America.

4. Nonetheless, this whisper may be difficult to sustain in light of the fact that Tinubu’s Chicago State University admission letter dated August 23, 1977, was addressed to “Mr. Tinubu,” not Ms. or Miss Tinubu.

Was the “F” in the transcript from Southwest College a clerical error, especially because the social security number and the dates were also clerical errors? Or was there a cover-up somewhere?

Well, we saw from the documents released to Atiku that after accepting his transfer credits from Southwest College (which later became Daley College), CSU required Tinubu to take qualifying exams in English, math, and reading, which he passed. Why did CSU allow a man who presented a transcript that belonged to a woman to take qualifying exams as a man?

Tinubu obviously identified as a man throughout the two years he studied at the school. A Nigerian CSU graduate and classmate of Tinubu’s swore under oath that Tinubu ran for and won election as president of CSU's accounting students’ association. His yearbook photo from 1979 also clearly showed a younger version of Tinubu.

And Tinubu’s handwriting and signature in the June 27, 2022, Consent to Release Student Education Records form, which authorized CSU to release his academic records to one Oluwole Afolabi of 3 Roosevelt Avenue, West Orange, New Jersey, seems to me similar to his handwriting and signatures in his CSU records.

Finally, if he used a woman’s associate degree from Southwest College to gain admission to CSU without having any background in accounting or business administration, his performance at CSU was perplexing. Of the more than 30 courses he took there, he got C’s in only three courses. The rest were A’s and B’s, which earned him honors.

5. The Bola A. Tinubu who applied to Southwest College for an associate degree in 1975 claimed to have attended Government College, Lagos, and presented a 1970 GCE A-level result with grades E in Chemistry and Biology and an F in Physics. The problem is that Government College, Lagos, was established in 1974. So, there’s a chronological conundrum there, which signposts forgery.

The GCE A-level result also shows that “Bola A. Tinubu” took the exam as an HSC student, which used to be a two-year study after 5 years of secondary school education. In other words, the owner of the certificate must have graduated from secondary school at least in 1968.

It’s not clear at the moment if the GCE A-level result is fake or authentic—or if it belongs to the man we know today as President Bola A. Tinubu. My hunch is that it doesn’t belong to him. But this will become clear in the coming days.

6. Tinubu tells the world that he was born on March 29, 1952, but the birthday recorded in his CSU transcript says he was born on March 29, 1954. The space for birthday in the Southwest College transcript he submitted to CSU is blank. So is the record of his secondary school education. These facts added to my previous suspicion that the transcript was probably fake.

If he was born in 1954, it means he was 14 years old when he graduated from high school.

Bonus: Tinubu’s last name was misspelled in a few of the CSU documents. I thought the “THUBV” misspelling in his final graduation record was bad enough until I saw “Tinububu” in one of the documents.🤣 Bubu, remember, is Buhari’s nickname among a vast swath of Nigerians. Make of that what you will.

We should all thank VP Atiku Abubakar for his doggedness, which has helped us to get this much clarity about Tinubu’s past.

ONE YEAR AFTER: THE WHEREABOUTS OF ORIENT FM STAFF WHO PLAYED UZODIMMA'S “UDELE NA-ERI OZU” SONG UNKNOWN

The fate of the staff of Orient FM/Television Station owned by the Imo State Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) Casmir Uzomah, who erroneously played a bongo music calling the Governor of the State Hope Uzodimma “Udele Na-eri Ozu” is still unknown a year after the incident, his subsequent interrogation by the DSS and sack as IBC staff.

Following his sack, the young man was said to have gone out of circulation, a situation that has worried concerned Imolites as no one has an idea about his whereabouts and safety.

This has led to suspicions that the young man may have been harmed even after his release from custody.

The DSS reportedly picked up Casmir on August 4, 2023, for playing a song deemed ‘” offensive” to the governor. He was reportedly held in custody for over a month.

The State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Declan Emelumba described the song played by Casmir that led to his detention by the DSS, as very offensive and defamatory.

Emelumba, in a telephone chat with The ICIR, wondered the motive behind playing such a song on a State-owned radio station.

“I was told that he played a song on IBC which was very offensive, calling the governor a murderer. This man actually played a song that says the governor is a murderer and that blood is flowing in his hand.” he said.

“Even the NBC queried the IBC for playing such a song. I am not responsible for his arrest in any way; I was told he brought the song from outside and played it on the radio station. What is his motive for doing that?” he asked.

The story of a 13-year-old Nigerian programmer, Joshua Agboola, who just emerged as the youngest Certified Amazon Web Services (AWS) Developer Associate in Africa, should gladden the hearts of most patriotic Nigerians.

This achievement reminds us of the immeasurable roles that education plays in the life of every child. His success story should also inspire our youths to strive hard to develop their skills and seek to always become better in their fields through continuous learning and improvement.

There is far more honour in the success achieved by utilising talents positively. If leadership inspires hope through competence and transparency with productivity as key goals, our leaders of tomorrow will be directed towards making positive use of their talents instead of diverting efforts to criminality. Moreover, the recent strides of our youths in the areas of Information Technology indicate that we as a people are ready to partake in the benefits of modern technology.

Dear Joshua, I celebrate you today for your outstanding achievement. You have made a name for yourself and our nation. I urge you to remain focused on building a great future for yourself and a better society for all.

If you listened to Tinubu's broadcast yesterday, it would be easy for you to understand that the old really wants to make things work, but he lacks the ideas, the sincerity and integrity to transform this country. One, certainly does not give what he doesn't have.

Peter Obi left no one in doubt about his preparedness to turn things around for good. Truth is, if INEC didn't rob Peter Obi of his mandate, Nigerians wouldn't be suffering the way they are suffering today. Peter Obi wouldn't need written speeches to reassure Nigerians that a glorious dawn will come. Nigerians would have been seeing the signs by now.

Nigerians did not make a mistake in voting for Peter Obi, and with every action taken by the current regime of Tinubu, Nigerians are further justified for putting their faith in the former Anambra State governor.

Peter Obi is the Glorious New Dawn Nigerians are looking forward to. May he come fast.

IMSSBN: A SCHEME OF FRAUD BY UZODIMMA'S REGIME

By Lancelot Obiaku

An announcement from the government of Imo State says it will roll out a Social Welfare Benefits Programme beginning from Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at all polling units in the State, with a target to enroll every adult indigene of the State into its "database platform." The government says it will issue a 'unique' Imo State Social Benefits Number (IMSSBN) to every enrolled individual. Some persons acting as an extension of the government's mouthpiece have called it Imo State Social Security Number. No matter the nomenclature, the programme has come with a striking alert from various quarters for an intention of fraud.

In an official circular sent to functionaries of the government but which has found its way to the public domain, Uzodimma's government said in capital letters that the only and exclusive requirement for enrollment into the welfare programme is a valid voters card. The inconsistencies in the release are copious, raising many eyebrows. Many have wondered why the government chose the ownership and possession of a voter card as the criterion to enroll citizens into a welfare programme, not minding that not all adult citizens have the card, and voting, principally, is a matter of choice.

What Uzodimma's government is saying is that it is the possession of a voter card that confers the right of citizenship of the State to the Imo people, and this includes access to rights and privileges attached to the same under the law. As strange as it sounds, it represents, without any doubt, another illegality about to be perpetrated by a government that came into power through the back door and has since been committed to destroying everything that dignifies Imo as a State.

Analysts have flagged the IMSSBN programme or whatever it has been called as a scheme tainted with fraud given its process and nature. Available reports suggest that it is targeted at luring unsuspecting low-income citizens with empty promises to steal their details for various forms of electoral malpractice in the upcoming governorship election. Some of these will include compromising the BVAS accreditation at polling units to swing results in favour of the APC. The truth is that citizens of the State do not need any special number to get benefits from a government that should serve them. It has been argued, and rightly too, that the National Identification Number (NIN) which is a well-organized scheme can serve the purpose of identification of every Imo indigene.

Further, emerging reports are that agents of the State government have started going from house to house in various communities deceiving villagers, especially women, to part with their voter cards and information with the promise that the Federal Government require it to pay them a welfare package.

Apart from hijacking voters' information and using it to manipulate election results, there is the risk that this jaundiced scheme by the Uzodimma administration could also expose vital details of individuals including the Bank Verification Number (BVN) and bank details and make them susceptible to attacks by internet fraudsters and cyber criminals. Imo citizens should beware of it before it is too late. A government that cannot pay salaries, pensions and gratuity cannot claim to have any special package for the citizenry.

A government that cares about the welfare of the people will construct good roads, build functional hospitals, and make access to quality healthcare and education affordable. It will focus on reducing youth unemployment and creating an environment that will allow small, medium and large-scale enterprises to thrive. And while Uzodimma's administration is doing little or nothing in these aspects, any other social welfare scheme in any guise is a coated deceit conceived to serve selfish purposes. Imo people must shine their eyes.

No More Pretense

Observations in recent times have revealed that the career politicians are no longer pretending to want to develop the country or the regions. The Pretense is gone for good!
..and well, most of their party supporters have inadvertently dropped the pretense too; no one is talking about development and it seems people don't really care any longer! The focus has shifted to "who gets what" and "what's in it for me".

The funny thing is that the new direction is actually constitutional! The 1999 constitution is anti-development and never provided any legal policy framework to develop the country nor does it give rights to the people! It's now very official to carve up the resources of the country in whatever and whichever way one could!

"Seize it, take it, run with it"

So the part of the national cake facing you could be yours; just get a very sharp knife and cut a chunk to gobble down...then push others aside and slice more...in any way, any party, under any guise be it through vawulence, stealing, electoral heist or whatever!

The pretense is gone for good and development is no longer officially on the national menu!

All thanks to a nefarious constitution and the thieves that worship it!

Carve what you could and the devil be damned!

All hail the All Progressive Criminals!!!

Long live the APC!!!

Let's make it a trend!

I implore you to do the same on the 18th March 2023. Vote for a new set of dynamic, committed and competent leaders. That is the spirit that led to the emergence of Rishi Sunak as UK Prime Minister; Sadiq Khan as Mayor of London and many others like Barack Obama, former US President. It is time to put in place a government that we will all participate in forming, that will be accountable and deeply committed to a New Nigeria, a Nigeria that is inclusive and sustainably growing for the benefit of all. That is the kind of Government we want across all states of Nigeria.

As we are counselled, we may differ in tribes and tongues, but we profess our unity in love and brotherhood to recreate a Nation where no Nigerian will be oppressed and where peace, fairness, justice, equity and prosperity will reign.

Irrespective of what INEC announced, we do know that in several states across our dear country, Nigerians massively voted for a New Nigeria on 25th February, for a new direction, for a new leadership, for a better life, for new opportunities that will see them compete with the best in the world. They voted for a transition from consumption to emphasis on production, they voted to have a country, strong and respected within the comity of nations.

They did not vote based on religion, tribe, class and other sentiments of division. They voted for a New and United Nigeria led by Labour Party, they voted for brotherhood.
