OBSERVATIONS AND REFLECTION FROM GENESIS 2:5-15 BY OKORO A. FESTUS (APST)

OBSERVATIONS FROM THE VERSES ABOVE:

1. We saw that the Lord God did not cause plants and herbs to grow on the earth simply because He has not given rain upon the earth that will help them survive and there was no man to till the ground (Gen2:5).

2. From verse 6-9, God watered the ground, Made man that will till the ground, planted garden east of Eden, put the man He has made in the garden and out of the ground, He made trees that are good for food to grow.

3. From verses 10-14, a river went out of Eden to water the garden. God parted the River into four heads and loaded it with precious stones( natural minerals). All these were to ensure that man live a comfortable life on earth.

4. In verse 15, God put the man in the garden to dress and keep it.

REFLECTIONS:
1. From the above observations, we understand that God never brought anything into existence without first of all providing for its survival and confort.

2. God finished His work and gave man role of managing(dress) and policing(keep) the resources that God has provided for his comfort.

From the reflections above, it is obvious that God can never in anyway be blamed for our woes and lack in this nation Nigeria.

I did a little research on types of mineral deposits found in Nigeria and states where they are located.

GUESS WHAT?
There is no state in Nigeria, including Abuja, that does not have more than two mineral deposit except Kebbi State that has only gold.

Immediately, one question flashed in my mind:

Are you sure that this proverbial garden of Eden Moses was talking about in the book of Genesis is not Nigeria?
This is because, the four heads of rivers connected to the garden where all the minerals were deposited are: East, West, North and South poles. And this is how we are divided in Nigeria. (Only assuming oh!).

Now, if I assume that this biblical garden of Eden is Nigeria, series of questions quickly came to my mind;
1. Are we still in that garden where all we need for comfort were provided before we came or have we been thrown out the way Adam & Eve were sent out?

2. If we are still in that garden, why are we not enjoying the comfort in the garden?

3. Have we actually dress(manage) and keep(police) the garden properly?

In my personal assumption, the sincere answer to these three(3) questions are:

We are still in the garden and are not enjoying the comfort of the garden because we have not manage and police the garden well. It is not God that will come to do it for us. He has finished His part by depositing all we need for comfort in our garden. 2Peter 1:3 says; according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

DO WE HAVE A PART TO PLAY IN THIS MANAGEMENT AND POLICING FLOPS?

Certainly, we all cannot manage and police the resources at the same time. One person must supperhead it, but we all have collective responsibility of choosing a reasonable, competent and sound person to manage it for us, so that we can maximally explore the comfort God has given us.

Finally, now is the time for us to obediently do the needful to stop this story that touches the heart. Remember, Isaiah1:19 says; If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.

Beloved, the price Jesus paid provides righteousness/ justification without works to all those who believe. Ephesians1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

You dont do to become righteous because it is not achieved by conduct. It is only available in Christ. Waooh! What a gift in a man?

CONFESSION: I confess that my righteousness is not of my good behavior or conduct but of my faith in Christ and His finished work.

PRAYER: Father,by your grace at work in me, i lift every burden and break every yoke around me in Jesus name.

Beloved, Jesus did not come to destroy the law. Rather, He came to fulfil(meet all the demands) the law. Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

CONFESSION:
In Christ Jesus, I am free from all the demands and requirements of the law.

PRAYER: Father thank you for all your promises to me are in Christ yea and Amen (fulfilled)(2Cor1:20).

Dearly beloved, Sabbath(rest) is in a man, whose name is Christ. Hence, the new creation have no obligation to keep a Sabbath day rest because they have entered their rest in Christ (Heb4:1-10, Heb3:15-19 & Col2:16-17). Come to Christ and have rest from works of the law.

PRAYER : Father, by your grace, grant that i may be filled with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding and may i receive ideas to do things successfully from today in Jesus name.

DEALING WITH SIN CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER II
TEXT: RM6:14-18 & 2COR3:5-6

Religion has made some believers believe that as far as they are in the world that they are sinners. And for a man to say that he is righteous is a blasphemy because only God is righteous. But, I want us to get this fact cleared. There are two dispensations:
1.The dispensation of the law(which was give by Moses).
2. The dispensation of Grace(which came by Jesus Christ). Jn1:17 says; For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The law was used as a schoolmaster to keep people in waiting for the faith(Grace) which was to come(Gal3:23). This was not given to make anyone righteous but rather, to make all men sinners, showcase mans weaknesses and point man to the need for a saviour. So, under this dispensation of the law, all men were sinners. This is because, the strength of sin is the law (1Cor15:56). As the time of old covenant elapsed, God manifested the plan He had for us before the foundation of the world(Eph1:4). Apostle Paul says in Gal4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Now that the dispensation of Grace has come, we are nolonger under law(Gal3:25 &Rm614). A believer was not born underthe law but by his faith in the finished work of Christ which is under Grace. Remember, the righteousness of the believer is not of his own merit but was credited to him by Grace. We are not sufficient to achieve it but our sufficiency is in Christ, who has made us able ministers of the new testament(2Cor3:5-6). NOTE: in Eph1:4, the plan of God is to have children in Christ who will stand before Him without fault. This dreamed children of God are believers(Jn1:12). Paul says that by obeying that form of doctrine that was delivered unto us from our hearts, we have become servants of righteousness.(Rm6:17-18). Our righteousness is of Christ, who forever sitteth at right hand of Majesty to plead for us with the Father. Jesus is our Advocate, our Father(God) is the Chief Judge, we are already discharged and acquitted because it is our family matter.
I am not giving any man license to sin because we are under grace (Rm6:15). Remember that he that sinneth is of the devil (1Jn3:9).

CONFESSION: My previous, present and future sins have been forgiven by Christ. I am eternally righteous.

PRAYER: Father, by your grace, may I be filled with the knowledge of your will in Jesus name.

DEALING WITH SIN CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER 1.

BIBLE TEXT: JN3:3-6.

Dealing with sin consciousness in the life of a believer must start from making the believer truly understand who he is in Christ and his new nature.

WHO IS A BELIEVER?
The answer to this question is suppose to be a teaching series of its own but I will do my best to configure it in this teaching.
A believer is one who has heard the gospel of Christ(the message of the cross), accepted it, believe Him and Confessed the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ over his life. Romans10:9 says that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead(the message of the cross), thou shalt be saved. 10:10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. A believer is not born of a corruptible seed that can easily die but by the living word of God that lives forever(1pet1:23). Brother Peter says in 1pet1:25 that this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. So, a believer is one born by the word of God.

In Jn6:63, Jesus says that it is the Spirit that quickeneth (makes alive); the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they're Spirit and they are life(they are spirit and they make alive). From here, we can establish that the message of Christ that gave birth to the believer is the Spirit of God(Jn1:1). Now we can understand what Jesus was telling Nicodemus in Jn3:6 that born of the flesh(biological birth) is flesh and born of the Spirit(word of God) is Spirit. Jesus was trying to make Nicodemus understand that a born again man is Spirit. And by this, he shares the same nature with God.
Brother Peter says in 1pet1:4 ; whereby are giving unto us exceeding great and precious promise: that by these you might be partakers of the Divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. One of the ways a believer can deal with sin consciousness is by acknowledging his nature.
1 John3:9 says that whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Christ was manifested to take away our sins and in Him is no sin. Believers are in Him and in Him is no sin. (1Jn3:5).

John says in 1John 2:1; My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate(who pleads for us) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2:2 And He(Christ)is the propitiation( a perfect sacrifice) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
I am not offering anybody license to sin. He who sins is of the devil because the devil sins from the beginning(1Jn3:8). But the truth remains that a believer is eternally forgiven.

CONFESSION:
My righteousness is not of what i have done but of my faith in what Christ has done.

PRAYER:
Father, grant me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ in Jesus name.

BORN OF THE SPIRIT
1Pet1:23

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

From the Bible text above, we can understand that we are not made Born Again (believers) by corruptible things of this world or by keeping the law (which will also fade away (2Cor3:11), but by the incorruptible Word of God.

HOW THEN IS BORN OF THE WORD BORN OF THE SPIRIT?
Jn1:1 says that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. If the Word was God and God is a Spirit, then born of the Word is born of the Spirit.

Again, Jesus says in Jn6:63 that It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. When Jesus says; it is the Spirit that quickeneth, quickeneth here means makes alive(gives eternal life ) (zoe). And He went further to make us know that the words He speaks are Spirit and life. This words that He speaks is the message of the kingdom of God. He was not teaching them the laws of Moses as the scribes did but the word of life. Paul calls it the ministration of the Spirit in 2Cor3:8.

Remember that Jesus says in Jn3:6 that born of the flesh is flesh and born of the Spirit is Spirit. If you are not yet born of the Spirit, you are just flesh and can never live in eternity because you lack the nature of God in you.

Do the needful now and receive the incorruptible life in Christ.

Beloved, as a believer in Christ, your life starts from the finished work of Christ. Why labouring yourself to keep the law that was fulfilled before you were made Born Again ? (Math5:17 & Jn19:30).

RIGHTEOUSNESS, THE PROMISED BLESSING OF GOD RM4:7-9
In Gen 22:18 & 28:14, God says that in the seed of Abraham shall all the nations/ families of the earth (both Jews and Gentiles) be blessed. But it is obvious that the seed of Abraham that God was talking about, was not Isaac. This is because, in Deu1:8, God says; behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them. Notice in the verse above that; after mentioning Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He still says ; and their seed after them. So, Isaac was never the seed but a type. This seed was unveiled by Apostle Peter in Acts3:25-26 where he says; Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 3:26 Unto you first, God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. And in Gal3:16 Apostle Paul clearly revealed that the seed is Christ: (Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ). Now our Bible text (Rm4:7-9) says;
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. From these two verses, we can understand that the blessing is of the forgiveness of sin and not imputing sin. When man's sin is forgiven and not imputed, that man becomes righteous because the separating factor (sin) is no more. Acts3:26 says that He sent His Jesus to bless them by turning away every one's(both Jews and Gentiles) iniquities. Remember, the blessing is for all the nations of the earth. Rm4 :9 says; Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision(Jews) only, or upon the uncircumcision(Gentiles) also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. Hear me, the blessing of Abraham is righteousness and never acquisition of material things. Christ became a curse that we mighty obtain the blessing of Abraham (Gal3:13-14) mean that He was made sin that in Him, we might become the righteousness of God(2Cor5:21).
Finally, this blessing (righteousness) is obtained by faith in Christ (Rm4:3, Rm10:9) and never by works of the law or your church denominational doctrines(Rm4:5).

Confession: Lord Jesus, I confess that I am everything God says that I am in Christ and not what I feel or think .

Prayer: Father, I ask that the light of your Word be revealed in my life that I may know my place in Christ in Jesus name. Amen .

FEAR NOT, SHAME IS NOT YOUR IDENTITY: Isa54:4
Isa 54:4 says; Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
You may have been going through shameful experiences in life, that you are almost giving up and taken it to be your fate. No, fate is not your definition. Your identity is glorious in Christ (Col1:27). The shame you are seeing is a false image (mirage), negating you, to mislead you and turn your face against God. Rm12 :2 says; Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. That shame exist more in your mind, change your thought pattern and see that Christ has paid every debt that could put you in shame.The will of the Father is that you prosper and be in health(3Jn1:2). But note that if you are not in Christ, you have no portion in Him. The promises of God are for His children. Examine yourself and do the needful, that fear and shameful identity could be no more.
Confession: I am what God says I am, circumstances of life cannot define me because I am wonderfully and fearfully made in Him.
Prayer: I declare that I reign in grace, health, abundance and any life that is less than what God has planned for me in Christ is not my portion in Jesus name..

You can do it! Your ability is not of the flesh but of Christ and what He has accomplished for us on the cross. Hear me! beloved, you are standing on the finished work of victory in Christ and this is why Phil 4:13 says; I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Go out today as bold as a lion and conquer your day. The size or look of that task is not a threat, the Lion lives in you .
Confession: there is no limit to what i can achieve today because He who is in me is limitless.
Prayer: Father, thank you for I take delivery of the grace to walk in victory from today in the name of Jesus Christ.
