Gov. Seyi Makinde, Mukaila Auxiliary and the Legion of Kiriji Descendants.
WARNING: This subject doesn't border on morality or emotion, so leash your dogs, we are here for a serious talk.
How the matter gets to where it is today, I don't care -- but for whatever it is, I think -- this is a great move by the governor, on the condition that the end could justify the means.
Like everyone else, I used to view the former chief-enforcer and Oyo state's Deputy Governor, for general duties, from the perspective of a normal NURTW strongmn who's merely enjoying the government's patronage, but I might have been right -- until sometime around last year, when the man evolved and took a rather new and more dangerous dimension.
Aaare Kiriji (Generalissimo of the Kiriji Legion). You know what that means? That transcends the title of of the Chairman, of Oyo state Park Management, I think -- that's evoking the warrior heritage of the Ibadan ancestors -- that's positioning himself as the successor to the war/trouble loving forefathers of the land of the voracious snail eaters.
It's not even an empty title, the legion of the red-capped militias who hardly smile; and the long convoy which rivals governor's around Ibadan metropolis -- should send shiver down the spine of every conscious citizens of the pace setter state of what that translates to.
That's a man who is not ready to frizzle out of the scheme of things in the nearest future, a man creating a path for himself beyond the umbilical-cord of the government of the day's patronage. I think by the design of the Kiriji Descendants, he wants to become more of a traditional authority and an independent force to be reckoned with, creating a militia loyal alone to him.
But the governor having won the second term bid doesn't need more enemy as far he can bring all forces to the table -- procuring their allegiance. The other guys with affiliation with APC are willing to play ball, but baba Rili who had his days during the last four years of monopoly -- couldn't have that, so the governor dared him to bring out his worst.
The smart GSM knows he couldn't afford his worst, so he drew the first blood, clipping his wing, throwing the first punch before the terror he once egged on, would bring tumult to his second coming.
Yes, this movie has much promise of an epic, but as it stands, there's only one winner and not two -- the only one who has prison and the jailers at his beck and call, of course.
It doesn't concern me, who's morally wrong or right, at least I think, with the leash tightly tightened on the mad-dog, there is a high chance for decorum, so why not? Why not pitching my tent at the side of public good?
