A former Special Adviser on Health to late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and former President of Nigerian Medical Association, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, has ruled out stepping down from the race for the party’s ticket, saying he is favourably positioned to clinch the APC ticket.

Faduyile, a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated this during his visit to the party’s secretariat in Akure, Ondo state capital, to declare his intention to run for the governorship seat denied stepping down in favour of another contestant.

According to him, there was no way he would back out of his aspiration or collapse his structure for any aspirant in the coming primary election of the party in the state.

He stated, “I am coming on board to build a new Ondo State and I have my blueprint on how the new Sunshine State will look like”
The former President of the Nigeria Medical Association said “I have not consider stepping down, I am going for the election and I am positive of winning”.

Speaking on the claim of some aspirants that the late governor Akeredolu endorsed their ambition before his demise, said the late governor never mentioned or declared his position about his successor.

“I work with late Akeredolu. I can tell you authoritatively that Akeredolu has no preferred candidate.

“Endorsement is good but you have to work for it. I am working hard and I am believing that with God all things are possible. We have to work for endorsement.”

Prof. Faduliye however, promised to use technology to boost youth employment as well as give priority to the development of agriculture in the state to tackle food insecurity

50 foreigners from neighbouring African countries, some of them children, have been rescued by the police in Lagos State.

The rescued persons, all foreigners, were kept in a duplex on Omola Road, in the Edemola area of Epe, Lagos, by a gang of job scammers.

The foreigners, who are citizens of Cameroon and Gabon, were take to the Okeoyibo Police Division after they were rescued.

According to the police, investigation revealed that they were deceived by the ring leaders of a Cameroonian job scam gang that there were job opportunities in Nigeria.

The victims paid an unspecified amount to the fraudsters hoping to secure jobs in Nigeria.

Some of the victims reportedly told policemen that they sold their valuables, including houses, back home, to raise money for the journey to Nigeria, for the promised jobs.

On arrival, they were reportedly kept in the duplex with a stern warning not to step outside until they got the promised jobs.

It was discovered that some of them had been in the building for six months.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, said that 34 persons were rescued. He added that the main suspect has fled to Cameroon.

Hundeyin said: “They are not kidnapped victims, they were deceived by some Cameroonians that there were jobs in Nigeria, only to be stranded because they have expended all their money. All of them have been taken to the police station.

“The ring leader is on the run. He gave all of them the same arrival date and when they arrived, he collected their money from them, asked them to stay in that room and left with a promise to be back, only to abandon them and go back to Cameroon.”
