A woman passed her daughter's room and heard a strange buzzing noise. Opening the door, she saw her daughter with a vi****or. Shocked, she asked why?

The daughter replied, "mom, I am thirty-five years old, unmarried, and this thing is as close as I'll ever get to a husband. So please, leave me alone."

Next day, the father heard the same buzz and upon entering, he also saw the same scene. To his query, the daughter again said, "dad I am thirty-five, unmarried, and this thing is about as close as I'll ever get to a husband. Please, leave me alone."

A couple days later, the wife came home from shopping and heard that buzzing noise coming from, the living room. On entering she saw her husband sitting on the couch, downing a cold beer, and staring at the TV. The vi****or was next to him on the couch, buzzing like crazy.
The wife asked, "what the f #*k are you doing?"

The husband replied, "I'm watching football with my son-in-law."

In my office, I receive more than 1,000 letters and mails every month.
All these letters and mails pass through my hands.

I stay awake almost all nights reading and responding.

After my promotion, I had to move into a new office and take over some special duties in addition to my schedule of duties.

In the new office, I saw letters that were dumped somewhere. No one has touched or open the letters nor read the letters

I wondered how the letters got there.

The envelopes used for the letters were very dusty. About nineteen letters from the same person.

It has same name.

Same phone number.

Same address.

Same request.

And same handwriting.

When our cleaners wanted to dispose them, I stopped him and requested him to bring them to me.

I opened and read one.

It was a letter written to the accounts and finance department of our company by a labourer in November 2019.

The letter was a request.

The worker was humbly requesting the head of accounts department to pay him, his salary that he is critically sick and needs the money for urgent treatment. In the letter, he stated that he had hepatitis which affected his liver.

I read the second letter. It was the same request. Looking at the letter, one will know that it was written in tears. The drops of tears were still visible on it, since the letter was inserted in an envelope.

I read the third letter and saw the same thing.

I read the fourth letter, it was still the same request.

He has been writing and sending in letters since November 2019 and the last letter was written on 10 August 2020, in which the writer stated that the accounts department should have mercy on him and his family and unblock his line and answer his calls.

It was confusing.

Who blocks people's lines here?

I decided to call.

I used my phone and dialed the number on one of the letters, which was the last letter written on 10 August 2020.

It ranged.

No one picked.

I redialed it.

It ranged again.

Someone picked.

I spoke first.

*THE SECOND VULTURE*
In the 1990's there was a widely circulated photo of a vulture waiting for a starving little girl to die and feast on her corp. That photo was taken during the 1993/94 famine in Sudan, by Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist, who later won the Pulitzer Prize for this 'amazing shot'.*

*However, as Kevin Carter was savouring his feat and being celebrated on major news channels and networks worldwide for such an 'exceptional photographic skill', he lived just for a few months to enjoy his supposed achievement and fame, as he later got depressed and took his own life!*

*Kevin Carter's depression started, when during one of such interviews (a phone-in programme), someone called in and asked him what happened to the little girl. He simply replied, "I didn't wait to find out after this shot, as I had a flight to catch..." Then the caller said, "I put it to you that there were two vultures on that day, one had a camera".*

*Thus, his constant thought of that statement, later led to depression and he ultimately committed su***de. Kevin Carter could have still been alive today and even much more famous, if he had just picked that little girl up and taken her to the United Nations Feeding Center, where she was attempting to reach or at least take her to somewhere safe.*

*Today, regrettably this is what is happening all around the world. The world celebrates stupidity and inhumane act, at the detriment of other. Kevin Carter should have taken the girl away from that place, which will cost him nothing, yet he didn't. Here is the inhuman posture, "he had all time to take his shot, but he had no time to save the girl's life".*

*Thus, we must all understand that, the purpose of life, is to also touch lives. So are you too a Vulture. In whatever we do, let humanity come first, before what we stand to gain out of the situation. In the pre-dawn hours of November 12, 1833, the sky over North America seemed to explode with falling stars. Unlike anything anyone had ever seen before, and visible over the entire continent, an Illinois newspaper reported “the very heavens seemed ablaze.” An Alabama newspaper described “thousands of luminous bodies shooting across the firmament in every direction.” Observers in Boston estimated that there were over 72,000 “falling stars” visible per hour during the remarkable celestial storm.

The Lakota people were so amazed by the event that they reset their calendar to commemorate it. Joseph Smith, traveling with Mormon refugees, noted in his diary that it was surely a sign of the Second Coming. Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglas, and Harriet Tubman, among many others, described seeing it. It became known as “The Night the Stars Fell.”

So, what was this amazing occurrence?

Many of those who witnessed it interpreted it as a sign of the Biblical end times, remembering words from the gospel of St. Mark: “And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.” But Yale astronomer Denison Olmsted sought a scientific explanation, and shortly afterwards he issued a call to the public—perhaps the first scientific crowd-sourced data gathering effort. At Olmsted’s request, newspapers across the country printed his call for data: “As the cause of ‘Falling Stars’ is not understood by meteorologists, it is desirable to collect all the facts attending this phenomenon, stated with as much precision as possible. The subscriber, therefore, requests to be informed of any particulars which were observed by others, respecting the time when it was first discovered, the position of the radiant point above mentioned, whether progressive or stationary, and of any other facts relative to the meteors.”

Olmsted published his conclusions the following years, the information he had received from lay observers having helped him draw new scientific conclusions in the study of meteors and meteor showers. He noted that the shower radiated from a point in the constellation Leo and speculated that it was caused by the earth passing through a cloud of space dust. The event, and the public’s fascination with it, caused a surge of interest in “citizen science” and significantly increased public scientific awareness.

Nowadays we know that every November the earth passes through the debris in the trail of a comet known as Tempel-Tuttle, causing the meteor showers we know as the Leonids. Impressive every year, every 33 year or so they are especially spectacular, although very rarely attaining the magnificence of the 1833 event.

The Leonid meteor showers are ongoing now and are expected to peak on November 18. But don’t expect a show like the one in 1833. This year at its peak the Leonids are expected to generate 15 “shooting stars” per hour.

November 12, 1833, one hundred ninety years ago today, was “The Night the Stars Fell.”

Cockroach are irritating when you have them around your house, especially in your kitchen.

Most times, you may have used all sort of insecticides and you are beginning to get tired to spending every now and then. Most insecticides do not go less than 2k.

So, to keep them away by spending less, you can either do any of these two methods

1. Get Cucumber— Slice them and place them in areas where you see or feel Cockroaches reside in your kitchen or anywhere in your room. Cockroaches run away from cucumbers and will never come close.

2. Get sugar, mix it with a lot of baking soda and pour in the areas where you think they gather most. Mostly at corners.

When you do any of these, you will never find any cockroach in your house and kitchen for a long time.

There is a road in France that can only be used twice a day for just few hours, then it disappears under 13 feet of water. During this hour of usage, the road is seen dry. It’s a 4.15 km long road. However, when the water start building up, commuters starts getting off the road, else, they get their vehicle submerged. This passage is called ‘Passage du Gois’

Chef Hilda Baci has been dethroned 😩

Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles.

First up, he's claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.

Alan then claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA) with a time of 31 hours 16 minutes.

What's even more impressive is that Alan took on both attempts back to back, meaning he was at work in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest in between!

There is something you should also know.

When you notice or observed that flies ain’t perching on a certain food especially in an environment where you know flies are. Know it that the food may have been poisoned or contaminated.

That little Flies you see, has the ability to know foods that are poisoned. So they avoid such foods; and the females who also usually lay eggs on foods will refused to lay their eggs on it.

14-yr-old girl arrested for st@bbing FUT lecturer to d£ath in Minna, Niger State

A 14-year-old girl, identified as Joy Afekafe, has been arrested in connection with the gruesome m¥rder of a lecturer of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Dr. Funmilola Adefolalu

Recall that the lecturer was found d£ad in a pool of her bl%%d with multiple st@b wounds on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Joy, who was paraded at the Bosso Police Station in Minna, Niger State, admitted to the crime and stated that she had visited the lecturer’s house to confront and a$$ault her for sending her packing.

She said she served as the deceased’s housemaid for about three weeks, and was laid off due to her misdeed which the deceased could no longer condone.

After she was laid off, Joy met two of her classmates, Walex and Smart, and narrated her ordeal to them and the trio conspired and att@cked the lecturer at her residence on the ill-fated Sunday morning leading to her d£ath.

According to the SS 2 student: “It was Walex who said that she would recognize us if we left her alive, so they started st@bbing her with the knif£ we brought, I then str¥ggled with the knif£ with them which made Smart enter her kitchen and take a knife there and they continued st@bbing her.

They st@bbed her in her stomach, her hands, her legs and she was just shouting Jesus, Jesus. After all that, they took her phone and laptop and her car battery before we left the house in the motorcycle we came in.”

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abiodun Wasiu, while parading the suspect, said that the police are on the trail of Joy’s friends, Walex and Smart, saying that the investigation is ongoing as the case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution. Professor Aminu Mohammed Dorayi is a renowned educationist and adventurer that drove from London to Kano with his car.

The elder statesman is a Record-breaker, who broke a world record by driving his Peugeot 504 over a distance of about 4,000miles, in 24 days.

Prof Dorayi is a distinguished Abusite (Ahmadu Bello University) and respected professor of Chemistry. He doubled as a former president of the ABU Students Union Government (SUG) for 1966/1967. Dorayi set up the Sharada Industrial Estate in Kano. He is also the first to organize trade fair in Nigeria.

He is called The Adventurous Chemist because of his passion for adventure. While in the UK, his journey was inspired by several adventure books he had read. For instance, he read about the Marcopolos, the Mungo Parks, these adventurous stories fascinated him.

Dorayi, therefore proceded to make a record-breaking trip by driving his Peugeot 504 over a distance of about 4,000miles in 24 days.

According to the elder statesman, “England is an Island. So when you reach Southampton you have to take a boat, you and your car, to Calais, France. I drove through Paris and so on through Madrid, Gibraltar. So when you reach Gibraltar, you reach the Mediterranean Sea, where you also take a ferry to Algeria.

"From there you enter the road all through, though there is no road, in the desert, you’re guided by your compass, your map.”

Speaking further on the trip, Prof disclosed that ”I became very keen during my PhD in the US. I had a Volkswagen which I bought for about 600 dollars at that time. I used it to drive across the desert over there.” He added that he is highly adventurous, that is why even his autobiography is titled, The Adventurous Chemist.

Dorayi disclosed that as he bought the Peugeot 504 for 1000 pounds and hit the road immediately.

He said, ”I was assisted by the British Automobile Association (AA). They gave me the guidelines, the map, the route. They told me what to do in crossing the desert, and what not to do. So, I was quite prepared.

Speaking of his preparedness, Doriya said, ”Since I went to secondary technical school, I was technically inclined and I could service my car. I came from a technical background. Going back to Zango in Kano and hanging out with friends, they taught me confidence. So this thing has been in me for years. I enjoyed reading about trans-Sahara.

In his encounter, Doriya noted that ”There was a place I passed in Algeria, and the day I arrived, it was raining heavily. Little children of 13 years and below were running helter-skelter and crying. When I asked the elders why they said those children had never seen rain before. No rain for 14 years, so they thought heaven was falling. They had to be counselled by their elders.”

Eleventh May Two Thousand and NineTEEN

I still remember vividly how it happended.

It was the least thing I ever expected to take place, not in my life, not on that beautiful day that was filled with so much joy and celebration.

I had fixed the things needed for my debut Book Presentation. Calls of felicitations and congratulations were already popping in. It seemed like my wedding day ooo.

My joy knew no bounds. It was indeed a great day for me. A day I officially took a step into the journey of writing.

The Book Presentation was meant to commence at 12pm.

Few minutes around 11am, I had rushed out with one of my dear friends to pick something urgent from our Town Market.

I had snapped selfie, made an upload and was jollying down the market in a Tricycle.

Suddenly, there was a clash, like an upgraded Nigerian movie, our Tricycle sumasulted and landed us inside the gutter.

As if that was not enough, it landed on us and squeezed us the more inside. Thank God for the gift of men. We were snatched out from the cold hands of death.

When they took us out, our body was something else. I sustained serious injuries. My face, my knees, my thumb finger(that was my writing finger)

People gathered, they opted to take us to the hospital for treatment... I refused! No nah! I cannot come and be admitted in the hospital, not that day, not any other day.

People were waiting for me at the venue for the book launch. I had invited all the schools in our town. How could it be that the devil won?

At last, we were taken to our family Medical Personnel. She did justice to the pains, my thumb was even stitched. I was cryiiiiiiiiiiiinggggggggg.

People were like... "Oh! So this book presentation will not hold again... Chai.. So this is how the devil scattered this day for this lady!

No! I je**ed up! In tears and reduced pains... I headed to my house. I prepared! And headed to the venue amidst the pains and scars.

I couldn't allow the devil to have an upper hand in this testimony

People were really dumbfounded. The book presentation was a huge success.

And this is the gist the Lord wants me to whisper to your ears this morning...

No matter how many bruises and wounds life has made you sustain... Don't give up!

It doesn't matter what you are going through right now... Don't throw in the trowel.

Determination is a key that unlocks many door. Apply it today.

As long as you are willing, as long as you have chosen to hold unto God, as long as you have decided to press on... You will never be defeated!

Rise up now and take up that challenge to become all that God has called you to be. That dream is possible!!!

Scars are signs that we've been through many waters and fires of life but were neither drowned nor burned.

Always Chew Down Properly Before Swallowing

I'm still fretting. It was yesterday at a funeral VIP tent in my home town Amawbia. I was licking a nice plate of egusi soup. No fish. Therefore no such bones to be cautious about. Only large chunks of beef. I scooped a spoonful of the soup, mainly vegetable and undissolved egusi.

Naturally I munched lightly and rolled the things with my tongue to swallow. And click, my teeth ground something metal. I gradually picked it off. And it was this hook!

Lesson: eat out, eat public but please carefully chew every scoop properly. Scrutinize every mouthful with your tongue. Something very deadly like this can sneak through public cooking. And find its way into your plate. Imagine if I had gulped this down. God was kind. I'm still thanking.

Some years ago, a friend invited me to his house.

I never knew the reason why he invited me. But he assured me that he would like to show me something and also have a brief discussion with me.

He was an auto spare parts dealer who was doing so well for himself.

When it comes to jokes, he can crack jokes so well and knows how to make fun of so many things.

This my friend was living in a three bedroom bungalow. Well furnished with many facilities that could make a house comfortable.

When I got to his house, he took me to one of his empty room and said to me;

"My girl friend is coming to visit me next week. When she comes, I will bring her to this room. I will pretend as if this is where I live. I will tell her that I am sharing this flat with someone else. I will make her feel that this is my own portion of the flat. The other rooms belong to my neighbor and am managing this one room."

I gazed at him.

There was no television, no radio, no air conditioner, no fan, nor any other appliances in the room. Only small foam on the floor with clothe hanger.

"Why do you intend to do it that way?" I asked.

He looked at me with a smiling face.

"I know you very well. You like to play pranks over many things." I said.

"You know she is coming for the first time to visit me. I don't want to give her the impression that i am doing so well as a bachelor. If she discovers am the one that owns this three bedroom flat and living alone, she may see me as a rich guy. She may accept to marry me because of my money. I want to pretend to be poor. Let me see her perspective about it. I want to feel her reaction."

"Hmmmmmm" I exclaimed.

"Yes nah. I want to test her. I want her to feel am nobody when I'm somebody. If she accepts to marry me under this condition, I will know she is the right person for me. But if she refuses, I will know she is not the right person for me." he said

"But if she eventually discovers that you occupy the entire apartment, don't you think she will regard you as a liar." I asked

"At the end, I will be the one to first open up to her before she discovers I own this place. I will tell her that I was merely testing her to know her kind of person."

"Ok. Let's see how it goes" I said

I wished him best of luck.

One week later, his babe arrived.

He first told the lady that he was an auto mechanic. He never revealed the fact that he deals on auto spare parts business.

The lady told him that as long as he has something doing that could put food on his table, with more efforts, the sky will be his starting.

He then took her to the one room he set aside as his room.

When the lady got there, she began to arrange the room for him. She swept and cleaned the room and made everywhere lively. She encouraged my friend not to feel depressed by his humble beginning. Assuring him that God is not yet done with him. She told him that many rich men started that way before they got their breakthrough. And as long as he has a place he could lay his head, the future is going to be bright for him.

My friend was so elated with this lady's actions and encouragements.

They are happily married with 3 kids.

The more electricity something uses, the more heat is generated in the wiring.

NEVER use power strips or extension cords to power an air conditioner, refrigerator, or anything that draws a lot of power. Anything that uses a lot of power should always be plugged straight into the outlet.

No extension cords. No splitters. No power strips.

We don't want to fight a fire right now. It's too hot outside.
Ask anyone who has experienced a fire, and they will tell you they are NOT fun. Zero stars - Would not recommend.
