Open Letter to Governor Seyi Makinde
Dear Gov Seyi Makinde
I appreciate all the obvious wonderful work you have been doing since May 29.
However to be frank and candid, governance is not all about pleasing people,it is more about doing things that will ease the living condition of the populace.....
You've been paying salaries, completing the roads, investing more in the education sector but honestly, Ex Gov Ladoja did more than that, but look at where we are....I don't want to believe you were voted in to only repeat what has brought us to where we are presently
Here is my point:
Why is it that we cannot boast of self sufficiency?
Border was closed and we kept shouting Buhari, whereas Anambra state just launched a Cocharis rice mill which could provide sufficient rice for the state and some other States, Ekiti Gov Kayode Fayemi has also signed a contract with Cocharis to establish same in small Ekiti, so when that is done, small Ekiti will be supplying rice to big Ibadan, that's shameful...some claim Igbos are gullible, so can you see how they are gullibly planning ahead?
Go to Nnewi and see Innoson and other mighty automotive investment, what of Onitsha Main market and Ariaria Market in Aba...
But what do we have here...SHOPRITE
Also Kaduna state just few months ago inaugurated its own dry inland port which we both started together.. Kaduna's dry inland port is now fully operational, exporting to Niger and Chad whereas Oyo state is still clearing site for dry inland port at Moniya...before we say Hausa's are mumu...we need to check ourselves
Most governors and legislators are escaping directional criticism because people are expecting miracle from Buhari
Another case study is Prof Ben Ayade of Cross River state, I hope you are aware of the power project that was started few years ago which could serve the whole of Calabar on 24/7 power supply....
It is not all by roads and salaries....
Anambra state pays salaries latest by 26th,budget at least 10m naira for each school every session, each school has 2 sound proof generators and a 6kva petrol gen,two Innoson school buses,a computer lab with WiFi, so why are we boasting as an achiever?
Even NLC has to beg Cross Rivers state Prof Ben Ayade to stop paying workers ahead on the 1st of the month
Imagine Lagos came up with Lake rice and asked people to buy with state documents, does that communicate any sense?
Whereas Kebbi your partner hardly experience scarcity of rice
My dear GSM, don't let people deceive you into believing you are a performer, embark on long term projects even as you are paying salaries and settling Lautech's issue...you still have over 3 years and possibly an extra 4yrs if God permits, i'm happy you don't need to embezzle because you have more than enough to last your unborn generation personally..... Forget about satisfying all these glutton politicians, some of them are even waiting for opportunity to back stab you
Some years ago the so called Ajimobi of blessed memory visited Songhai farm in Benin republic with the promise to replicate same in Oyo state, he only came back to demolish Ayefele's Fresh FM, imagine if the farm has been established since then
A good percentage of commodities in Bodija and Gbagi markets come from other States, why?
Better late than never, now is the time to embark on long term beneficial project that we can always remember you for in the next 50 years, roads will damage, workers will retire, students will graduate into labour markets with little or no job, but your Legacy remains
We might not be related, but we share the same surname.... Makinde must be a great name like Awolowo
Expect more check and balance Sir
Your humble citizen
Rasheed Oladipupo Makinde
