FEC : INEC TO RECEIVE N18 BILLION TO CONDUCT IMO, BAYELSA, AND KOGI ELECTIONS.

Ahead of the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi, the Independent National Electoral Commission would receive N18 billion.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, states that the electoral umpire will receive funding from the N2.1 trillion 2023 supplemental budget for the polls scheduled for November 11, 2023.

Following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that was held today, Bagudu made the statement at the State House in Abuja.

He said, "In addition, N18 billion was given to the Independent National Electoral Commission to assist them in conducting the elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo."

He claimed that the supplemental budget was approved in order to deal with pressing matters.

The FEC, he said, "approved the sum of N2,176,791,286,033 as supplementary budget, and this supplementary budget is to fund national defense and security and other urgent issues."

"This is to accelerate and maintain the security gains that have been made; the security agencies require these funds before the year ends."

N210 billion is also allocated for the payment of wage awards. with the Nigeria Labour Congress in negotiations," Bagudu continued.

About 1.5 million federal employees will receive N35,000 apiece from the federal government in September, October, November, and December of 2023.and it comes out to roughly N210 billion in sanctioned funds as well as N400 billion in cash transfers.

As you may remember, the World Bank provided a $800 million loan to the Federal Government so that 15 million households may receive cash transfers totaling N25,000. The two months covered by the $800 million are October and November. The President gladly agreed that the federal government should provide funding for an extra month, which is what this N100 billion is intended for.

HISTORY WILL EXONERATE ME - ATIKU.

History will finally prove him right, according to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential candidate in the election scheduled for February 2023.

Following the Supreme Court's ruling upholding Bola Tinubu's legitimacy as the president, he made this statement to the media on Monday, October 30.

Atiku, stated: "I always chose the path of truth, morality, and the rule of law at a critical point in my political life." History will support my position.

"Removing the military from power and restoring civilian administration in Nigeria was a crucial challenge when I entered politics.

It eventually turned into a defining conflict, and I was singled out for removal as one of its leaders. There was an attempt on my life to kill nine police officers who were stationed at my home in Kaduna. That incident also resulted in my nine-month exile.

The former Vice President elaborated on his reasons for suing Tinubu over his educational background, saying, "It is not about me, it is about our country, Nigeria, and the future." It all comes down to the type of society we wish to leave our children and the next generation and the sort of example we want to set for them. It has to do with how the world views Nigeria and Nigerians.

OVER 70 DEAD BODIES FOUND IN ABIA LGA

Around the Lokpanta Cattle Market in Umunneochi LGA of the State, the Abia State Government has found over fifty decomposing bodies, over twenty headless bodies, and many human skeletons.

At his monthly media chat, "Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians," which takes place at Government House in Umuahia, the governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, revealed this information. He reassured that his government is dedicated to taking on the challenges of insecurity head-on, regardless matter whose ox gets gored.

Since some brothels were recently shut down and Umunneochi is now peaceful, Governor Otti claimed that prostitution, the drug trade, and other illegal vices surrounding the Lokpanta Cattle Market made the raid necessary.

After the Governor insisted that the Lokpanta market be turned into a daily market with opening and closing hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., sectors of the market have been allocated to cattle dealers and other enterprises. In an attempt to guarantee proper security, he disclosed to the public that his administration is likewise enclosing the market.

He said that his administration decided to make the market a daily event because the Lokpanta area was known for kidnapping and armed robbery. Despite misunderstandings about the policy, he added, everyone agreed with the government's position that the market should be open every day for the benefit of all parties during a discussion with market leaders.

He continued, saying, "We have a single goal in mind: eliminating insecurity in Abia State. As a result of the knowledge that no government can survive in the face of violence, kidnapping, or insecurity.

According to the State's chief executive, devices will be placed in key locations to protect people's lives and property. He continued, saying, "This government will not get involved in supporting insecurity," and that his administration is prepared to make sure that Abians have a wonderful Christmas this year. We'll position our gadgets at key locations.

In an interview with reporters, Governor Otti disclosed that his administration was using a fresh strategy to get Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), out of prison. Such an approach is not for public consumption, he continued.

However, I trust outcomes over media hype. We don't want the commotion in the media. In actuality, Nnamdi Kanu was not imprisoned by the current government, despite the fact that we are making every effort to secure his release. Personally, I believe that the new government does not have to take on the bad decisions made by the previous one.

The governor expressed hope that his strategy would produce the desired outcome, and that the public will only be notified once the outcome has been reached.

Governor Alex Otti revealed that he had given the Ohafia-Abam–Okobo–Arochukwu road building rights, stating that his administration is dedicated to the State's infrastructure development. It was further disclosed by him that the Federal government was going to start work on the Ohafia-Ututu-Ihechiowa-Amuvi soon, and that construction work would soon start in Nunya Road in Isuikwuato LGA.

NLC THREATENED TO BOYCOTT FG MEETING IF THE LABOR MINISTER SHOWS UP.

In the event that Labor Minister Simon Lalong attends the Nigeria Labour Congress's (NLC) meeting with the Federal Government on Monday, October 30, 2023, the NLC has vowed to boycott.

Following a briefing on the situation of workers in Imo State, NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero delivered the threat on Sunday while taking questions from journalists in Abuja.

He stated, "Hopefully, we may meet with the Federal Government tomorrow (Monday) to see whether or not the agreement with organized labor on the removal of fuel subsidy palliatives was met."

"We will not participate in any meeting with the Federal Government that the Minister of Labor and Employment attends, so if that meeting takes place, it will be without the Minister of Labor and Employment."

The government and labor unions have been negotiating over the scheduled industrial action due to the fuel subsidy reduction.

Ajaero also made threats during the ceremony on Sunday to organize its members to storm Imo State on Wednesday, November 1.

The head of the NLC charged that the workers' rights in Imo State were being violated by the government.

Ajaero bemoaned the fact that many of them had perished as a result of what he claimed was Governor Hope Uzodimma's negligence of their wellbeing.

He listed some of the alleged violations committed by the governor of Imo State against laborers, such as the governor's purported refusal to carry out prior agreements, particularly the one struck on January 9, 2021; unpaid salary arrears of nearly two years; unfair designation of employees as ghost workers; and unpaid gratuity arrears, among other things.

He claims that over 11,000 employees have been classified as ghost workers by the Imo State Government, and nearly 10,000 pensioners have had their benefits incorrectly labeled as ghost pensioners, leading to almost 22 months of unpaid pensions.

The NLC President also bemoaned the state government's noncompliance with the federal minimum wage, alleging that Governor Uzodinma has opposed the application of social dialogue and collective bargaining to address the problems.

I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO IMPEACHMENT WARRANT — FUBARA.

On Monday, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara said that he had not committed any crimes that would have allowed the House of Assembly to impeach him.

The governor told his supporters at the Assembly Complex, "Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment."

The governor promised the state's citizens they would reap the benefits of democracy and promised to address the issue when it was opportune.

"Let me reassure the residents of Rivers that I will keep working to make sure you reap the benefits of democracy." "I will speak to the media at the appropriate time," he declared.

As the House on Monday dismissed its leader, Edison Ehie, the Rivers Assembly was reportedly engulfed in a new crisis amid rumors of an imminent impeachment process.

Tear gas was being shot outside the Complex as the House members, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, served Fubara with an impeachment notice before running for cover.

Speaking to his supporters who had demonstrated outside the Assembly Complex against the move, the governor claimed he had done nothing to merit the Assembly's impeachment process.

This happened a few hours after the Assembly Complex caught fire on Sunday night.
Although it was unclear whether the fire was related to the political controversy, there had long been rumors of a schism between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been placed under arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Less than an hour after he was liberated from the Department of State Services' custody, Emefiele was hauled up on Thursday night.

As per the information obtained, the former governor of CBN is presently being questioning at the EFCC's National Headquarters located in Jabi, Abuja.

Recall that in June, President Bola Tinubu dismissed Emefiele from office effective immediately and the DSS detained him on the same day.

WAIT FOR 2031, GANDUJE TELLS ATIKU,OBI FOLLOWING SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT.

Both Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party have been advised to postpone pursuing their presidential dreams until 2031 in light of the Supreme Court's ruling upholding President Bola Tinubu's victory in the polls held on February 25.

All Progressives Congress National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje praised the ruling of the supreme court on Thursday, stating that Obi and Atiku still had a chance.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje was cited as saying, "There is still room for both Obi and Atiku to actualize their presidential aspiration after the second term tenure of President Tinubu in 2031."

We live in a democracy. With Tinubu's win, democratic government in the nation has gained additional ground. I commend Obi and Atiku for their tenacious efforts to broaden the scope of our legal system and democracy.

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) asked Nigerians to support President Tinubu regardless of their political inclinations in order to guarantee that he brings more democratic dividends to the country and steers it towards sustained prosperity.

"Nigeria is ours collectively; as patriots, we must pool our resources to advance our nation," the APC leader continued.

Ganduje stated that the outcome of the Supreme Court verdict would now allow Tinubu to focus on carrying out the APC's "Renewed Hope" mandate for the benefit of Nigerians, putting an end to the opposition's claims that the votes in the presidential election were rigged in favour of Tinubu.

Ganduje made these comments soon after the Supreme Court rejected Atiku and Obi's appeals. The appeals of Tinubu's ineligibility to run for president, allegations of electoral law violations, and fraud were dismissed by a panel of seven judges as unmeritorious.

BUHARI PRAISES COURT'S DECISION REQUESTS OPPOSITION TO COLLABORATE WITH TINUBU

The Supreme Court's ruling upholding President Bola Tinubu's election has been lauded by former President Muhammadu Buhari, who has called on the opposition to support the Nigerian leader.

Shortly after the top court denied the petitions of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Buhari made this claim in a statement issued through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.

"The country deserves a break now that we have reached the final bus stop following an arduous eight months of costly judicial proceedings. The adversary has put up a strong fight. He was cited in the statement as stating, "They should accept the hand of fellowship extended by Tinubu/Shettima and the APC government, having now exhausted their rights as permitted by the constitution."

"Let them permit the Government to govern and the People to fully benefit from the promises made by the All Progressives Congress (APC)."

He said that he and the majority of Nigerians are relieved by the ruling.

The ruling, in Buhari's opinion, is "a reaffirmation of the will of the majority of the people against the determined will of a hard-fighting minority."

But considering the popularity and vitality of democracy in Nigeria, he voiced concern over the low voting rates across the nation, particularly in metropolitan areas, and called for a change.

The statement said, "He hopes for a successful term in office for the President and his team."

KENNETH OKONKWO:THE SUPREME COURT AGREED THAT ELECTION WAS NOT CREDIBLE.

According to Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, the Supreme Court concluded that the 2023 presidential election was not legitimate.

One of Obi's attorneys, Okonkwo, gave this declaration to reporters on Thursday, October 26, following the Supreme Court's decision.

He stated: "As a fine imposed on the second respondent for the proceeds of narcotics and money laundering by the district court of Illinois, I sat down too I did not hear it and I wonder whether that was swept under the carpet or was an oversight because the lead judgement was detailed on all other issues and they say all the issues there have been overtaken by even all our own issues and I did not hear the issues.and so that is why I say I disagreed respectfully, eventhough the decision is binding."

The Supreme Court has the power to interpret the Constitution, so yes, it has been put to rest. That is all I have to say about it; it is their prerogative as the branch of government that has been granted the authority to interpret, and it is the interpretation they have given to it that is obligatory on all of us."

That is highly intriguing because the sole statement made public by the Supreme Court that caught people's attention was that it acknowledged that voters' confidence in the election was lowered when the results were not uploaded to IREV. I understand it to suggest that the Supreme Court concurs that the elections lacked credibility, or at least not as much credibility as they should have if the results had been uploaded.

Credibility is therefore one of the three pillars of a free, fair, and credible election for the people. The Supreme Court's observation that the non-uploading of the results reduced Nigerians' confidence in it—that is, that it cannot be presumed to be credible because Nigerians were shut out in it—made me very happy. Credible means believable. Why shut out the people for the right the law has given them."

WIKE HOSTS RIVERS APC, "WE'll VOTE TINUBU AGAIN IN 2027,"

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has promised to galvanise support for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming election, stating that candidates who received 2,000 votes in the 2023 polls would receive almost nothing in the 2027 contest.

The minister made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja while hosting Rivers State leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Victor Giadom, the National Vice Chairman for South-South.

In addition, Wike stated that he owed no one an apology and that he had no regrets about backing President Tinubu in the previous general election.

The minister pledged to support the Rivers APC and all Nigerians, saying he would never treat anyone unfairly on the grounds of their political, ethnic, or religious beliefs.

Let me state this clearly for everyone to hear: regardless of the political party to which we may belong, we have an obligation to support the President.

"My identity is not concealed. I have no obligation to apologise for my hard stance on Tinubu. I support justice, equity, and fairness.

"To God's glory, I give thanks to God that the war is over. The Nigerian state is not owned by any one individual or group, and since we are all members of it, it is crucial that we all comprehend this.

"In a nation such as this, if A seizes the opportunity, B. Inclusivity should have it next. Thus, I promise not to treat anyone unfairly. For Nigerians, I am here. Party members and non-members alike can find me here.

"After emerging, Mr. President is not the APC President. He leads Nigeria as its president. There is no denying that he must protect his political party's interests even as he governs Nigeria. It's organic.
"Rivers State's interest is paramount. Our goal should always be to project what will be best for our state. Despite the fact that I am not an APC member, I think that Asiwaju needed assistance.

Why did you support Tinubu?Upon examining all the Southern contenders, I concluded that Asiwaju could not be defeated. He is capable of acting and has the political will to do so.

"Asiwaju employed the majority of you. We are aware of those who were employed by Asiwaju. It wasn't kept secret. It was obvious.

"I don't consider myself a politician. To all, I am a politician. Not'me, me, me'. It is never done. Ultimately, you need others to survive, so anyone who acts in that way does not want to live.

But rest assured that we are all collaborating on President Bola Tinubu's behalf. "I'm confident that in the upcoming election, those who received 2,000 votes won't receive 50 again because we have no more votes to give to anyone because they supported President Bola Tinubu."

Giadom had earlier commended Wike for his choice to back the President and pleaded with him to include Rivers APC members in his group.

This is a delegation from the APC representing Rivers State, he declared. We are here to express our gratitude for your tremendous support of our presidential candidate during the previous election and to congratulate you on your appointment.

"We implore you to stay involved and contribute to the administration's and Nigeria's success.

"We know that you sincerely cared about justice when you voted for our presidential candidate.

"You are fully capable of carrying out the duties assigned to you by your office, safeguarding Rivers' interests, and advancing national unity."

INEC'S INABILITY TO ELECTRONICALLY TRANSMIT RESULTS DOES NOT INVALIDATE TINUBU'S VICTORY - SUPREME COURT.

The panel's presiding justice, John Okoro, rejected Atiku and the PDP's claim that the Independent National Electoral Commission had broken the Electoral Act, declaring that "the failure of INEC to transmit results did not affect the results of the election." This issue is therefore decided against the appellants.

The appellants' "judgement of the court below that they abandoned the duty imposed on them and relied solely on INEC's failure to transmit the results in real-time" was acknowledged by the court.

He declared, "The IReV portal is not a collation system, as the court below held."

He did, however, caution that the public's faith might be damaged if INEC fails to send results to IReV.

The court ruled that "the collation of the results does not stop where the IReV portal fails."

JUST IN : SUPREME COURT KNOCK OUT ATIKU PLEA TO PROVIDE NEW EVIDENCE AGAINST TINUBU.

Atiku Abubakar's request to provide new evidence against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was denied by the supreme court on Thursday.

At the Presidential Election Tribunal Court (PEPC) on Thursday, during the hearing of the appeals filed against Bola Tinubu's victory, Justice Inyang Okoro gave the verdict. In order to prove that Tinubu provided the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with a falsified certificate, Atiku has petitioned the court for permission to present further evidence. This is what Atiku claims.

In the interest of justice, according to Atiku's attorney Chris Uche (SAN), the 32-page document that was made available to his client should be acknowledged.

However, Justice Okoro stated that it is already too late to admit this kind of evidence. He referred to the 1999 Constitution's Section 285(5), which states that the PEPC will consider and rule on any petitions pertaining to the presidential election.

He claimed that the Supreme Court lacked authority to admit the document because the 180-day period had ended on September 17.

TINUBU ADVOCATES FOR PRIVATE-PUBLIC UNIVERSITY FUNDING IN NIGERIA.

According to Tinubu, this would provide colleges access to the resources they so sorely needed to raise the standard of higher education in the nation.

Speaking during the capital project's opening and the grand finale of the University of Ilorin's (UNILORIN) 37th and 38th convocation ceremonies.

Nevertheless, the president urged support for the universities from businesses, communities, and people in general.

Tinubu claimed that it was standard practise for public universities to get substantial government support as well as additional funds from the private sector to supplement their income.

Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, Minister of State for Education, spoke on behalf of Tinubu, who declared: "It was in awareness of this that the federal government put into law the students' loan which will positively change the landscape of education in Nigeria.

"Our government will continue to champion the cause of impactful education while also making sure that both lecturers and students are given the best resources to improve their unique capabilities."

According to Tinubu, the elimination of gasoline subsidies was done in an effort to "ensure that the development of our nation is not in any way stratified" and to support a more sustainable and effective energy landscape for "our nation."

"We empathise with the difficulties this may be causing in our daily lives," he said, describing the pain as "undeniable."

Please anticipate the potential long-term benefits while acknowledging that there will likely be short-term drawbacks.

"The elimination of subsidies can open the door for investments in alternative energy sources, infrastructure, and public services that will help make Nigeria stronger and more prosperous."

"Let us remain united as a nation during this transition, supporting one another and working jointly to find solutions," added Tinubu. It's a difficult trip, but if we embrace innovation and use energy sparingly, we can overcome these obstacles and come out of them stronger as a country.

"Remember, change frequently entails its fair share of difficulties, but it is through resiliency and cooperation that we can shape a better future for ourselves and generations to come,"

Prof. Wahab Egbewole, vice chancellor of UNILORIN, earlier praised the president's resolve to turn around the tertiary education landscape.

He acknowledged the president's recent gesture and expressed his "belief that all other outstanding issues will be resolved in order to not only increase commitment and productivity in the system but also to accomplish the repositioning agenda."

USE KOGI,IMO,AND BAYELSA POLLS TO RESTORE VOTER'S CONFIDENCE IPAC TELLS INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to use the upcoming off-circle governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo State to boost voter faith in the electoral system.

Prior to the November 11 governorship elections in the three states, Yabagi Sani, the chairman of IPAC, made the appeal on Tuesday during a stakeholders' meeting with INEC in Abuja.

The INEC chairman also voiced concern over recent court rulings addressing the nomination and replacement of party candidates as well as their implications for the handling of sensitive election-related materials.

"With regard to the candidature issue, the Commission is worried about the recent wave of court rulings and decrees regarding the nomination, substitution, or disqualification of candidates after all the sensitive documents have been printed. In addition to being expensive, managing the process of having the materials reprinted in accordance with court orders in a short amount of time is exceedingly difficult, he said.

"Although the Commission has previously released the final list of candidates for the three States, we are required to evaluate the list due to four recent court judgements. The updated list of parties and candidates on our website reflects these changes. However, the impacted candidates' or their political parties' pending appeals are unaffected by this ruling.

As the elections approach, the INEC chairman also raised alarm about the recent wave of violence in the states.

"I want to remind you, party leaders, that only a peaceful environment can allow for free and fair elections. Since voters, election officials, observers, and members of the media are all human, it is only natural that we are concerned about their safety during the election process, he said.

IPAC has "an obligation to impress on your members, candidates, and supporters to maintain peace during the campaign rallies and procession," according to the INEC chairman, who added that the commission is working with security agencies to ensure calm during the elections.

I request that you make a similar appeal to them on election day and thereafter. The purpose of the meeting on Monday was to inform the political parties of the exercise's preparations and their involvement in the voting process.

It served as a forum for the political parties to voice their concerns to the INEC chairman over the off-cycle elections.

COURT SENTENCE LAGOS DOCTOR, OLALEYE TO LIFE SENTENCE FOR DIFILING WIFE NIECE

Doctor Olufemi Olaleye, the medical director of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, was found guilty on Tuesday by Justice Rahman Oshodi of ra**ng his wife's niece.

The victim's evidence and the doctor who examined her were found to be believable, according to the judge.Olaleye's confessing testimony and his wife's exchange of WhatsApp and email communications, he said, were sufficient proof against him.

As indicated by the confession and undertaking the defendant signed at Anthony Police Station with his attorney Olalekan Buruji and his NBA seal, the victim was allegedly r***d and forced to suck the defendant's genitalia, according to Justice Oshodi.

Oshodi found Olaleye guilty of defiling and having s*x with a 15-year-old juvenile, concluding that the prosecution had established its case beyond a reasonable doubt and that the victim's testimony had been supported by all of the evidence presented to the court.

Olaleye was accused of s*xually assaulting his wife's niece between March 2020 and November 2021 in two separate counts of defilement and pe*******on.

On November 30, 2022, the defendant was charged with the crimes and entered a not guilty plea.At least seven witnesses were called by the prosecution. One, however, was "withdrawn."

The survivor, whose name has been concealed, the defendant's wife, a child forensic expert named Bisi Ajayi-Kayode, police inspector Esther Igbineweka, medical examiner Akinbunmi Oyebimpe, and police officer Abe Leonard are among the witnesses.
