Access Holdings CEO, Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son reportedly di£ in a chopper cr@sh in the U.S.

Wigwe, who is the immediate past Managing Director of Access Bank, was reportedly on board a chopper with his wife, son and three other passengers when the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to reports, the chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it cr@shed near a border city between Nevada and California on Friday night, February 9, 2024.

No survivor has been found so far.

This sad event took place yesterday at 6pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja. More details about the deceased and the arrangements for his State Burial will be announced later.

Popular photographer d!es in a car crash.

A popular photographer based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State who is best known as Wildshot, has d!ed in a lone car accident in the Wimpe area of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State.

According to reports, the photographer was said to have rammed into a building while trying to overtake a trailer at about 9pm on Friday, December 8. The deceased who was an only child, was reportedly at a popular gymnastics centre in Port Harcourt when his mother in the Rumuola area called him to complain that some suspected cultists were shooting around her residence.

Late Wildshot was said to have abandoned his activities at the gym, hopped into his vehicle and rushed to the area in a bid to save his mother. Eyewitnesses claim late Wildshot who was on speed, tried to overtake a trailer but lost control of his car, rammed into a building and sustained serious injuries. He was said to have been rushed to two different hospitals which rejected him. He was confirmed d£ad at the third hospital he was taken to.

Wildshot d!ed a day before his birthday. He was only child.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budgets, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake says conduct of local government elections is still a priority in the present administration's agenda to champion rapid change and development in all communities across the state.

Mrs. Nnake stated this in Awka during a stakeholders'
forum tagged: "Strengthening transparency, accountability in governance and electoral process.

The forum drew participants from Anambra State House of Assembly, Anambra State Association Of Town Unions, ASATU, members of Anambra State Disability Commission, representatives of political parties, African Centre For Leadership Strategy and development, International Peace and Civic Responsibility Centre, IPCRC, journalists, religious leaders among other community stakeholders in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Nnake who spoke through the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Partnership, Mrs. Oggochukwu Oji said that since he assumed office, Governor Soludo has been determined to alleviate the sufferings of the people through positive policies that have direct effect on the people at the grassroots.

Commissioner Nnake said as such Governor Soludo's promise on inauguration day to conduct a election that will see to the institution of democratically and constitutionally elected local government in the state remains paramount, thus his drive to restore total peace and security to the local government areas affected by insecurity that predates his administration.

She assured Ndi Anambra that the present administration is committed to surpassing all its campaign promises to the citizens and stated categorically that Governor Soludo is one who follows due process in all he does and such is working hard to ensure that all the enablements for a peaceful conduct of peaceful, transparent, free and fair election is put in place in the 21 local government areas as no local government will be left out in the event of an election.

Contributing, the Chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Affairs, Honourable Chimezie Ikwunne recounted several promises redeemed by Governor Soludo and surpassed and promised that the legislative and executive arms of government will work together to see to the peaceful conduct of the local government elections soon.

For the Director of Strategy, African Centre For Leadership Strategy and Development, Mr Itia Otabor and the representative of the International Peace and Civic Responsibility Centre, Mr. Chris Azor recalled that Anambra State last conducted local government elections in January 2014 thus their reason to mobilize and galvanize critical stakeholders in the state to come up with strategies towards ensuring the emergence of democratically elected local government administrations.

They pointed out that it is imperative to restructure the local government administration for transparency, accountability and improved service delivery, as required of every democratic governance structure so as to rejuvenate the interest of citizens with capacity to hold government to account on its responsibility.

For the State Secretary, Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Mr. Uzochukwu Eminent and Administration Secretary, Society For Equity, Justice And Peace, Anambra State, Venerable Jason Onyeakagbusi called on the state government to conduct local government elections into the 21 local government areas of the state without further delay.

𝗣𝗗𝗣 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗺𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Thursday, dismissed the suspension of its Imo State Chapter Chairman, Charles Ugwu.

A former Minister of Commerce and Industry, was suspended on Tuesday for alleged gross misconduct and insubordination.

Consequently, Chidi D**e, the zonal PDP chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, was appointed interim chairman of the party in Imo State.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, explained in a statement on Thursday that the NWC, at its 579th meeting, declared Ugwu’s suspension null and void.

Ologunagba declared that the suspension is of no effect and not consistent with the laid-down rules and provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

The statement read in part, “The NWC therefore charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, members, and teeming supporters of our party in Imo State to be guided accordingly.

“The NWC enjoins all party members in Imo State to remain united and continue to work together in the overall interest of our party.”

Nigeria's Vice President, Senator Kashim Shetimma has commissioned an electric energy metre manufacturing factory built by Advanced Energy Management Solution Ltd, AEMSL in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Council Area of Anambra State.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo who received the Vice President at the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri earlier in the day, accompanied him to the factory commissioning ceremony.

Owing to the enabling environment being created by the Soludo-led administration, the commissioning of the electric meter manufacturing company in Oraifite is a big boon to Anambra state as it can lead to numerous benefits.

With the increased demand for electricity across the state, having such a company that produces electric meters can help meet the demand and also provide job opportunities to the people in Anambra state and beyond.

Performing the commissioning ceremony, the Vice President who lauded the development strides of the Soludo-led government in the state, especially in helping to create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive, expressed optimism that the factory will stimulate the economy of not just the state but the entire country.

On his part, Governor Soludo hopes the Vice President's visit to the state strengthens the synergy between the State and the federal government, leading to better cooperation on issues of mutual interest, such as security, environment, education, and healthcare; a relationship that could also help Anambra State secure more federal funding for its programmes and initiatives.

During the visit, the Vice President also commissioned Ijele FM radio station and flagged-off the third phase of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation Housing Scheme, as well as witnessed the distribution of palliatives to widows' cooperative society.

Symbolic presentation of house keys to select-widows by the Foundation also featured during the ceremony attended by Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, National, State House Assemblies and House of Representatives members, among others.

Abiodun Thanks Supporters Over Appeal Court Verdict

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has appreciated the people of the state for their support through his journey in court.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Friday, affirmed Abiodun as the duly elected governor of Ogun State in the March 18 poll, dismissing the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party's candidate, Ladi Adebutu.
