In January, Omotola Jalade shared on her IG that she was grateful that at 40, her last child is already in the University. Remember she has four kids and she married quite early.

Funke Akindele (Jenifa) congratulated her on the post. Funke is 41, and just had her first babies in December of last year.

Now, if you try to compare these two women, you'd fail at it because they are both accomplished. Will you say Funke is unfortunate for just having her first babies at 41 while Omotola's last child is already in Uni?

My point? Stop comparing yourself with others! Your life journey isn't the same with anyone, irrespective of societal expectations.

Not everyone will get married in their twenties, not every couple will have a baby nine months into marriage, not everyone will become a millionaire in their thirties, some people will get their dream jobs at 40, it doesn't mean they've failed. Some will become CEOs at 55.

Please learn to focus on your life. I know it's a difficult thing to do in this era of social media where everyone seems to be doing well in life except you. Don't compare your life journey with others, not even your classmates.

There are only CLASSMATES, there are no LIFEMATES. You're your only mate in life.

Whenever you're tempted to compare yourself with others (which makes you to feel pressured and sad), come back to this post and digest every word. So you better save it, because I will too.

You got married to a man.. you both lived together, planned a home together, had an opportunity to make babies.

You had kids and then moved on in your careers celebrating birthdays and attending fellow colleagues marriages together

Cousins know you !! Friends know you even colleagues know you !! You even had a chance to travel together

And then for some reason another girl comes into the fray.. You got angry and got bitter

A lot of women advised you, you are too beautiful and too gorgeous to stay with him.. he doesn’t deserve you

It’s better you stay alone than let a man disrespect you like this..

You woke up forgetting the good times and angrily you left and that was it.. Men come flooding in, giving you all the attention you need..

Some even promises you they are different and then they married you, never cheated on you and never even argued with you, they honour the ground you step on but you now realise that they don’t have the money to spend on you and won’t even give you the least 10k.

For some they later discover these men are married and have kids while some they married the man but he starts using their own money to finance his lavish lifestyle

For others they realise the men are not at their peak of powers to satisfy them sexually and then others the men are not jovial but very toxic and judgemental and then you begin to wonder was loosing my marriage worth it after all??

I am not saying you shouldn’t divorce, do it but bear in mind that you are responsible for your own decisions and ensure you don’t ever get to the point where you regret it

Many years ago a post trended on Facebook where a woman said many women who left their marriages are regretting it but won’t say it !! Many people came against that post, what they didn’t understand is that the post didn’t say regret it now!! It says regret it meaning even if you regret it in the future you are amongst them

As a kid, I watched mom and dad struggle to put food on my table

We slept on empty stomachs in several occasions

And I watched my mom cry herself to sleep whenever there was no food

While other children went to school with food or extra money for snacks, I went to school hungry and stayed that way till dismissal

Soon the streets became the most friendliest place for me

As I realized my talent of making people happy through music

I sang and sang in the streets of Lagos

Even on empty stomach,
I sang good lyrics with joy and felt satisfied doing so
As I continued to pray and hope that God will send help to me soonest and then the world would hear and appreciate my music 🤔

I kept promising my mama that everything was soon going to be alright and by then
I will buy her big houses, cars and make sure she never lacks anything ever again

Yes I kept trying and trying everyday to make that promise a reality.

The street got me
My brothers from the street made trenches felt like paradise for me as we sang, complement and corrected each other in love

Then one day,

I got a call

"Hello, am I speaking with Imole?
I heard your freestyle and it was really good,
So the Marlian record label will like to sign you meet me in so so so place tomorrow to seal the deal if you are interested"

I rolled on the floor, jumped and danced in excitement

Then I informed my family and close friends about it and they were all so happy for me

Alot of them wanted to be me at that point

The true happiness on my mama's face meant the world to me

The thought of no more poverty,
New story, New level,
New life and riches continued to replay in my mind as I smiled throughout that night

I could barely wait for day to break,

Very Early that morning,
I ran to the nearest saloon and reshaved my hair even though I had just shaved it yesterday

All I could think of was how to look my best in front of my helper
