“This unusual incident occurred at our branch earlier today. A customer with a Naira account flagged as PND (Post No Debit) and marked with an Arrest on Sight notice visited our branch to report being unable to transact. Upon recognizing the account’s status, we decided to keep him engaged in the banking hall while contacting the Police Investigating Police Officer (IPO). After notifying the IPO of the customer’s presence, we were instructed to have the Mobile Police (MOPOL) in the branch detain him temporarily while the police team headed to our location.
“The customer grew increasingly agitated and insisted on leaving the premises. Despite this, we handed him over to the MOPOL on duty, who kept close watch. The customer continued arguing and threatening to leave, but the MOPOL held him at close range. However, before the IPO and her team could arrive, my chief security officer alerted me with an unexpected update—the customer had spiritually disappeared.
“I pressed the Chief Security for clarification, asking if the customer had simply escaped, but he insisted it was a literal disappearance. Skeptical, I immediately reviewed the CCTV footage. To our astonishment, the footage confirmed something we could never have anticipated—the customer had genuinely spiritually disappeared.
“When the IPO and her team arrived, we explained the entire situation, including the strange disappearance. We showed them the CCTV footage, and their shock matched ours. They were equally bewildered, acknowledging that the suspect might have vanished even if he had been in their custody.
“We are grateful that the entire event was recorded under the surveillance cameras. Without the video evidence, this occurrence might have been difficult to explain or even believe. The IPO and her team expressed their disbelief, recognizing that such an incident is highly unusual.
