"Many have passed away, and those who are still here are called
"the elderly.""
We were born in the 40s-50s-60s.
We grew up in the 50's-60's-70's
We studied in the 60s-70s-80s.
We were together in the 70s-80s-90s.
We got married or not and discovered the world in the 70s-80s-90s.
Adventuring into the 80s - 90s
We're settling in to the 2000s.
We became wiser in 2010s.
And we’re going strong into 2020 and beyond.
Turns out we went through EIGHT different decades...
TWO different centuries...
TWO different millennials...
We've gone from phone with operator for long distance calls, pay booths, video calls worldwide.
We’ve gone from slides to YouTube, vinyls to online music, handwritten letters to emails and Whats App.
Live games on the radio, black and white TV, color TV, then HD 3D TV.
We went to the video store and now watching Netflix.
We've known the first computers, punch cards, disks and now we have gigabytes and megabytes on our smartphones.
We wore shorts all through our childhood, then trousers, ep pants or mini-skirts, Oxfords, Clarks, Palestinian scarves, jumpsuits, and blue jeans.
We avoided childhood paralysis, meningitis, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, swine flu and now COVID-19.
We've done roller skating, roller skating, tricycle, bicycle, moped, gasoline or diesel and now we drive hybrids or electric.
We played with the little ones
horses and checkers, ostrich and marbles, 1000 threshold and monopoly, now there's candy crush on our smartphones
And we read... much
And our schoolmates religion was not a subject...
We used to drink tap water and lemonade in glass bottles, and the vegetables on our plate were always fresh, today we get meals delivered
Yes, we have been through a lot but what a beautiful life we have had!
They might describe us as “ex-annuals”; people who were born in this 50s world, who had an analog childhood and digital adulthood.
We should add the Biological Revolution that we have witnessed. In 1960, biology was very descriptive. We have witnessed the event of Molecular Biology: the molecules of Life have been discovered: DNA, RNA etc. When you see everything that has come from it: gene therapy, gene fingerprints, and others the progress is considerable.
We kind of have "seen it all"!
Our generation has literally lived and witnessed more than any other in every dimension of life.
This is our generation that has literally adapted to "CHANGE".
A big congratulations to all the members of a very special generation, which will be UNIQUE.. "

JOURDON ANDERSON'S LETTER TO HIS FORMER ENSLAVER, 1865

In 1865, Jourdon Anderson, a formerly enslaved man from Tennessee, received a letter from his former enslaver, Colonel P.H. Anderson, asking him to return and work on his plantation. Jourdon responded with dignity and clarity, explaining why he would not go back.
To My Old Master, Colonel P.H. Anderson, Big Spring, Tennessee
Sir,
I got your letter and was glad to know you remembered me and wanted me to come back. You promised to treat me better than anyone else could. I have often worried about you. I thought the Yankees would have hung you for hiding Rebels at your house. I suppose they never found out about you going to Col. Martin's to kill the Union soldier left in the stable. Even though you shot at me twice before I left, I didn’t want to hear of you being hurt. I’m glad you are still alive.
It would be nice to visit the old home and see Miss Mary, Miss Martha, Allen, Esther, Green, and Lee. Give them my love and tell them I hope we will meet in a better world if not in this one. I would have visited you all when I worked in the Nashville hospital, but a neighbor told me Henry intended to shoot me if he ever got the chance.
I want to know what good chance you propose for me. I am doing fairly well here. I get $25 a month, with food and clothing. I have a comfortable home for Mandy (people here call her Mrs. Anderson) and the children, Milly, Jane, and Grundy. They go to school and are learning well. The teacher says Grundy has a head for a preacher. They go to Sunday school, and Mandy and I attend church regularly. We are kindly treated. Sometimes people say, "The colored people were slaves in Tennessee." The children feel hurt, but I tell them it was no disgrace to belong to Col. Anderson. Many would have been proud, as I used to be, to call you master.
If you will write and say what wages you will give me, I can better decide if it would be to my advantage to move back.
As to my freedom, which you say I can have, there is nothing to be gained there since I got my free papers in 1864 from the Provost Marshal General of Nashville. Mandy says she would be afraid to go back without proof that you will treat us justly and kindly. We have decided to test your sincerity by asking you to send us our wages for the time we served you. This will help us forget and forgive old scores and trust your justice and friendship in the future. I served you faithfully for thirty-two years and Mandy for twenty years. At $25 a month for me and $2 a week for Mandy, our earnings would amount to $11,680. Add interest for the time our wages were withheld, deduct what you paid for our clothing and doctor visits, and the balance will show what we are due. Please send the money by Adams Express, care of V. Winters, Esq., Dayton, Ohio.
If you fail to pay us for our past labor, we can have little faith in your future promises. We trust the good Lord has opened your eyes to the wrongs done to me and my ancestors by making us toil for generations without pay. Here I draw my wages every Saturday night, but in Tennessee, there was never a payday for the Negroes any more than for the horses and cows. Surely there will be a day of reckoning for those who cheat the laborer of his hire.
In answering this letter, please state if there would be any safety for my Milly and Jane, who are now grown and both good-looking girls. You know how it was with Matilda and Catherine. I would rather stay here and starve and die than have my girls brought to shame by the violence of their young masters. Please also let me know if there are any schools for colored children in your neighborhood. The great desire of my life now is to give my children an education and have them form virtuous habits.
P.S. Say hello to George Carter and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.
From your old servant,
Jourdon Anderson

Actor Van Diesel broke up with his partner for 3 years, but when they separated, he did not take her out of his house, he was afraid that she would live in a lower level, so he left her the matrimonial home and went to live near her.
Not only this, but he was sent weekly bills for her and her daughter, as well as paying all the monthly internet, phone, and electricity bills, and completely refusing any media to interfere or publish anything about their separation.
After 6 years, his partner had an accident while returning from a shopping trip and he had a photo session, and the moment the news reached him, he stopped the photography and flew to the hospital, stood by her side, and donated his blood to her, she needed blood and when his partner recovered, they got back together. 💙
- Bottom line: Either we live together in love with pure and humble hearts, or we separate, but love and respect remain between us, and we keep our precious memories together and respect each other no matter what happens... To understand what true love is and human sacrifice is.

“Pets, it turns out, also have last wishes before they die, but only known by veterinarians who put old and sick animals to sleep. Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a vet what was the most difficult part of his job.
The specialist answered without hesitation that it was the hardest for him to see how old or sick animals look for their owners with the eyes of their owners before going to sleep. The fact is that 90 % of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so that they don't see their pets leave. But they don't realize that it's in these last moments of life that their pet needs them most.
Veterinarians ask the owners to be close to the animals until the very end. ′′It's inevitable that they die before you. Don't forget that you were the center of their life. Maybe they were just a part of you. But they are also your family. No matter how hard it is, don't leave them.
Don't let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they don't like. It is very painful for veterinarians to see how pets cannot find their owner during the last minutes of their life. They don't understand why the owner left them. After all, they needed their owner’s consolation.
Veterinarians do everything possible to ensure that animals are not so scared, but they are complete strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think about the pet. Endure this pain for the sake of their sake. Be with them until the end.”

🦅👣 Conquer Your Challenges, Soar Above the Rest! 👣🦅

Take a look at this incredible image! 📸 Nature, in all its wisdom, teaches us an essential lesson. In this moment, a fearless fowl appears to be stomping an eagle, the epitome of strength and majesty.

What does this remarkable encounter remind us? It's a powerful metaphor for life itself. 💪

Challenges will come your way, and they may seem as daunting as an eagle in flight. But remember, within you lies the spirit of that brave fowl, standing firm in the face of adversity, ready to conquer its fears and take control.

🌟 In life, you too can stand your ground, face your fears, and rise above your challenges. 🌟

As Eleanor Roosevelt once wisely said, "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.'"

So, my friends, let's draw inspiration from this incredible image and tackle our challenges head-on. In doing so, we'll discover the extraordinary heights we can reach! 🌄💫

"🌠 Dare to Dream, Embrace the Journey, and Celebrate the Adventure of Life! 🌠

Life is an incredible journey, filled with twists and turns, challenges and triumphs. It's up to us to make the most of this remarkable adventure.

Don't be afraid to dream big, to set audacious goals, and to take the first step towards your aspirations. Your dreams are the compass that guides you through life's vast terrain.

Remember, success isn't just about reaching the destination; it's about learning, growing, and evolving along the way. The journey itself is where you'll discover your strength, resilience, and the amazing potential within you.

So, embrace each day as an opportunity to craft your own story. It might not always be smooth sailing, but it's in the stormy seas that we learn to navigate and become stronger.

As we set out on this magnificent journey, let's remember the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, 'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.'

The path you carve is unique to you, and the world eagerly awaits the impact you'll make. 🚀💫

🌞 Find Joy in the Small Moments 🌞

Hello, my lovely friends,

Life can get busy, but it's the small moments that truly make it beautiful. Let's take a moment to cherish the little things that bring joy to our lives. 🌼

🌟 Here's a reminder:

🍃 Happiness isn't always found in grand gestures or big achievements. It often hides in the everyday moments, like a warm cup of tea, a smile from a loved one, or the laughter of a child.

💫 Today, I challenge you to:

1. **Savor the Present:** Take a deep breath and be fully present in this moment. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin or the cool breeze in your hair.

2. **Express Gratitude:** Reflect on the things you're grateful for. It could be as simple as the roof over your head or the food on your table.

3. **Spread Positivity:** Share a compliment or kind words with someone. Your positivity can brighten their day.

4. **Indulge in Simple Pleasures:** Treat yourself to a favorite snack, a good book, or a cozy movie night.

Remember, life is made up of a series of small moments. These moments, when treasured, can add up to a lifetime of happiness. 💖

16/10/2023

During pregnancy, the baby's cells enter the mother's bloodstream, a phenomenon known as 'fetal-maternal microchimerism.' These cells circulate between mother and baby for 41 weeks, leaving a lasting imprint in the mother's tissues, bones, brain, and skin, often persisting for decades. Subsequent children also leave a similar imprint.
Remarkably, even if a pregnancy doesn't reach full term or if an abortion occurs, these fetal cells migrate into the mother's bloodstream. Research has indicated that in cases of maternal heart injury, fetal cells rush to the site of the injury, differentiating into specialized cells for heart repair.
It's a unique symbiosis where the baby contributes to the mother's healing, while the mother nurtures and builds the baby. This reciprocal relationship may explain why some ailments improve during pregnancy.
This biological connection underscores the protective bond between mothers and babies, with each playing a vital role in supporting the other's well-being, ensuring the baby's safe development and survival.
Consider those unusual cravings during pregnancy; they might be related to the mother's needs prompted by the baby's influence. Furthermore, studies have demonstrated the presence of fetal cells in a mother's brain up to 18 years after childbirth, highlighting the enduring connection between mother and child.
For all the moms out there, this scientific confirmation provides a fascinating perspective on the intuitive bond you share with your child, even when physically apart. It's a beautiful revelation.

“We were in Athens yesterday and Avery had to go to the bathroom really, really bad. She & I ran into the closest place which was a Subway in downtown Athens. We ran straight to the bathroom and the employee got my attention and told me the bathroom was only for paying customers. I didn’t have my wallet with me and I told him I was sorry, I didn’t have my wallet and we would leave. Without hesitation these 2 young men spoke up and said they would buy a cookie for Avery so she could be a “paying customer” so she could use the restroom.”
“I was so grateful, thanked them profusely and dashed in the restroom with Avery. We came back out and they were still there, so I thanked them again and started talking with them. Turns out they both play on the UGA football team. (Go Dawgs) We had a great conversation and exchanged some laughs, and talked about football. To some it may seem like a small act, but I was so thankful and impressed that these 2 college kids who don’t have kids of their own gave so freely and without hesitation to help us out. The world needs MORE of this! Thank you Latavious & Jaylen!!
Fine young men who asked for nothing in return and a great example. A much needed ray of sunshine. Reminds me of Andy Stanley’s sermon “What does love require of you”? Food for thought.
Go Dawgs!!”

A father used to say to his children when they were young: —When you all reach the age of 12 I will tell you the secret of life. One day when the oldest turned 12, he anxiously asked his father what was the secret of life. The father replied that he was going to tell him, but that he should not reveal it to his brothers.
—The secret of life is this: The cow does not give milk. "What are you saying?" Asked the boy incredulously. —As you hear it, son: The cow does not give milk, you have to milk it. You have to get up at 4 in the morning, go to the field, walk through the corral full of manure, tie the tail, hobble the legs of the cow, sit on the stool, place the bucket and do the work yourself.
That is the secret of life, the cow does not give milk. You milk her or you don't get milk. There is this generation that thinks that cows GIVE milk. That things are automatic and free: their mentality is that if "I wish, I ask..... I obtain."
"They have been accustomed to get whatever they want the easy way...But no, life is not a matter of wishing, asking and obtaining. The things that one receives are the effort of what one does. Happiness is the result of effort. Lack of effort creates frustration."
So, share with your children from a young age the secret of life, so they don't grow up with the mentality that the government, their parents, or their cute little faces is going to give them everything they need in life.
Remember 👇👇
"Cows don't give milk; you have to work for it."

Very inspired story: A Year to Live.
Anthony Burgess was forty when he learned he had a brain tumor that would kill him within a year. He had no money at the time and nothing to bequeath to his soon-to-be widow, Lynne.
Burgess had never been a professional novelist in the past; but he was always aware that he had the talent to be a writer in him. So, just to be able to leave at least the copyrights to his wife, he put a piece of paper in the typewriter and began to write his first novel. It was not even certain that what he had written could be published; but he couldn’t think of anything else to do.
“It was January 1960,” he said, “and according to the diagnosis, I had a winter, a spring, and a summer ahead of me. That year, when the leaves began to fall, I would have died too.” With that speed and haste, Burgess had managed to write five and a half novels before the year was out. E. M. Forster could only write so many in almost an entire lifetime; J. D. Salinger, one of America’s greatest writers, managed to write only half of it in his entire life.
However, Burgess did not die. His cancer first regressed; then it disappeared altogether. In his long and full life as a writer, he produced more than seventy works, most famously A Clockwork Orange. He might not have written even one of these novels had it not been for the death sentence that cancer had inflicted on him.
Most of us are like Anthony Burgess; we hide a great talent waiting for an emergency to emerge from within us.
A useful exercise in self-motivation is to ask yourself what you would do if you were in Anthony Burgess’s place and found out that you would die of cancer within a year… “What would change in my life, how would I live my last year if I had learned that I would only live one more year?? What exactly would I do? Considering the brevity of life is a useful exercise; it often brings up surprising thoughts in your mind that will reveal your unused talents that have not yet surfaced.
