EFCC Does not Issue Arrest Warrant on Loan Defaulters

The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to some contrived documents on "Arrest Warrant Processing", "Loan Fraud Escalation" and others, being circulated by some loan companies, purportedly issued by the Commission against loan defaulters.

Authors of such documents are falsely linking their threats against loan defaulters to the Commission. The public is enjoined to be wary of such claims. As a rule, the EFCC does not issue arrest warrant on loan defaulters.

Loan companies linking the Commission to their loan recovery efforts should desist from such fraudulent engagements as the EFCC may stop at nothing to bring them to book.

GOV DIRI FLAGS OFF EXERCISE STILL WATERS, CALLS ON STAKEHOLDERS TO WORK TOWARDS STABILIZING PEACE IN BAYELSA

The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, has today, 17 October 2023, called on all hands to be on deck to further consolidate and stabilize the peace currently enjoyed in Bayelsa State. He made the call while flagging off Exercise STILL WATERS III at Otuopkoti, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Giving his remarks, Governor Diri, reiterated the importance of setting in motion different strategies such as Exercise STILL WATERS III to checkmate the possible rise in criminal activities within the state, especially as the yuletide season approaches, and the preparation for 2023 Gubernatorial Election in the state gains momentum. Acknowledging that the numerous successes recorded by Exercise STILL WATERS last year contributed immensely to the peaceful yuletide enjoyed by Bayelsans in 2022.

He further stated that a lot have been achieved in terms of peace and security in the state as a result of operations of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

While commending the Chief of Army Staff , Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja for sustaining the Exercise, he was particularly delighted with the professional conduct of the troops of the 16 Brigade. He added that the enormous commitment and sacrifices of all the gallant security forces in the state in improving security and peace for Bayelsans is appreciated.

Giving the opening remarks, the General Officer Commanding(GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army/ Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operations DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam stated that the Exercise is in line with the COAS command philosophy which is “ To Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well-Trained, Equipped, and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment”. He further added that the Nigerian Army has come a long way and living up to its assigned constitutional duties, especially in contributing to global peace and security.

He further added that "Integrating relevant security agencies in the state, enhances the troop's proficiency in the ex*****on of military operations other than war" and cements the existing cordial civil-military cooperation to facilitate civilian support for the military.

The GOC further stated that there has been a significant increase in Nigeria's oil output. He attributed this to the renewed efforts of troops in securing pipelines and clamping on illegal oil bunkering. This he said clearly shows that those who accused the military of being part of the problem dont really understand the situation. He urged troops not to be demoralized but to continue to be loyal, disciplined, and dedicated at all times.

Earlier, while delivering his remarks, the Commaner 16 Brigade, Brigadier General Sadisu Yakasai stated that this year’s Exercise has been packaged to cover all areas of security concerns in the state, in other to garner participation from all stakeholders in the security architecture of the state so as to create a free and safe environment for Bayelsans and Nigerians.

Highpoint of the flag off was an amphibious display, medical outreach, as well as group photographs.

Troops Neutralize Bandits, Clear Hideouts in Kaduna.

Troops of Operation Forest Sanity have neutralized two bandits and cleared several hideouts in Chikun.

According to Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, the troops achieved these breakthroughs during fighting patrols along the Kaboresha-Rijana Forest-Kuzo-Kujeni-Gwanto-Kachia axis.

The troops set up an ambush position along the Gwanto-Kwasau Road, and thus engaged bandits approaching the location on motorcycles. The troops neutralized two bandits and recovered three motorcycles.

The troops also raided bandits camps in the Kutura-Rijana general area. The bandits fled into the forest on sighting the troops, who then destroyed the camps and recovered three motorcycles.

Other items recovered include several sets of military uniforms and bandoliers. The onslaught against bandits is in progress and government appeals to the general public to continue to volunteer useful information.

14 Year Old Boy blown up by explosive device mistaken as scrap metal in Borno village.

A 14 year old boy was killed and two others seriously injured as a bomb he mistook to be a metal scrap exploded.

The incident occured in Banki town, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State on Wednesday, 21 December, 2022.

A Security Analyst and Counter Insurgency Expert in the Lake Chad, that the young boy and two of his friends unknowingly picked the IED when they went in search for scrap metals in the outskirt of Banki. On their return, the young boy attempted to destroy the object by hitting it with an iron; when that didn't work, he took the bomb to where his mother was cooking and placed it on fire with the intention to melt and dismantle it.

Unfortunately, the bomb exploded, shattering his body into pieces.

The incident once again raised concerns about the safety of children in the so-called “liberated communities”, especially now that the state government is returning thousands of internally displaced persons to their communities.
