GOV. Babajide Sanwo-Olu LAUNCHES E-GIS SYSTEM FOR LAND VERIFICATION BEFORE PURCHASE

I am pleased to announce that Lagos State has attained the most advanced stage in land documentation and acquisition by launching an electronic Geographic Information System (e-GIS) which provides digitised access to all data pertaining to the lands in the state before a purchase is facilitated.

The e-GIS portal is a one-stop digital platform that sanitises and revolutionises the process of acquiring, documenting, and verifying land in Lagos. With the portal now live, applications for land titles have transitioned from the centuries-old manual paperwork into digital form, eliminating the need for middlemen and the associated costs applicants previously faced.

Now, anyone can verify, search, and apply for land titles, including Governor’s Consent, from the comfort of their homes at the click of a computer button. This innovative system has organized all archived land records dating back to the 19th century and merged them with all land titles, storing historical transactional data on every parcel of land in the State’s cadastra.

The commitment to creating an enabling environment for Lagosians and investors underscores our dedication to improving service delivery to our citizens. This automated process has transitioned land transactions in the metropolis from manual paper form into a digital format, interpreting them into our Land Registry’s workflow.

Sanwo-Olu Projects Badagry Port To Begin Operation By 2025

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the planned Badagry Port might be ready by 2025.

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed that with necessary arrangements in place, the planned Badagry Port might be ready by 2025.

Sanwo-Olu said this on Tuesday, when the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina.

He also restated his administration’s commitment to construct a new port in the Badagry axis of the state, in order to decongest Apapa and Tincan Island ports.

The governor said that the government is already in touch with a contractor for the construction of the Badagry Port.

”The whole idea is to build strategic infrastructure for our citizens. Lekki is on the Eastern part and Badagry on the Western part, so that we can decongest Apapa and Tincan, which we have stretched beyond their capacities.

”We need to think forward and I am happy that investors are putting the funding together and all the approvals are being sorted so that in two years, we might also have a brand new port.

”These are some of the things that will ensure that things can move in and out and we can begin to compete with some of the nice ports we see around the world, so that we can improve the revenue earning of government and be able to do any other things,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu further stated that the government would continue to partner with the Nigeria Customs Service to ensure the turnaround of ports in the state.

According to him, his administration is committed to making Lagos a business destination for as many investors as possible, so as to improve the economic prosperity of the state.

”I want to assure you that Lagos and Lagosians will continue to give you hospitality; a place of comfort and a willing environment where business can thrive, where officers can do their work without fear or favour, and where service can be rendered to our citizens, your customers, and the international community at large.

”We will continue to work together, and because of where we are as a country and the need to increase our export, foreign currency and ensure that we are not a mono-product country that relies only on oil, we will encourage our manufacturers to export, so that they can drive more foreign direct investment and foreign currency that can help to improve our currency,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Acting Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adeniyi commended the Sanwo-Olu-led administration, adding that Lagos, as the economic nerve centre of Nigeria, generated 70 to 75 per cent of Customs revenue in the country.

Adeniyi also pledged to work assiduously to ensure that smuggling became a thing of the past in Nigeria, so as to boost Made in Nigeria products and improve the economy of the country.

”For us to be able to excel at our full potential, we need a peaceful working environment.

“I want to assure the governor that as responsible officers and agencies of government, we will live up to our civic responsibilities, and more importantly, we will operate within the framework of the law.

”We will be law abiding in our operations. We have followed your (Gov. Sanwo-Olu) serious attempt to make Lagos a Smart City and a good working place for all Lagosians, some of us inclusive.

”We followed the progress you have made. The least we can do as a responsible agency of government is to complement your efforts in terms of sustainable development,” he said.

20 KEY FACTS ABOUT THE DANGOTE REFINERY BEING COMMISSIONED TODAY :

1. It is located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, covering a land area of approximately 2,635 hectares.

2. The refinery is powered by a 435-megawatt (MW) power plant

3. The refinery is the world’s largest single train with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day with a 900 KTPA Polypropylene plant.

4. At full capacity, it can meet 100% of the Nigerian requirement of all refined products and also have surplus for exports.5. Designed for 100% Nigerian crude with flexibility to process other crudes.

6. Self-sufficient marine facility with ability for freight optimization. Largest single order of 5 single-point mooring (SPMs) anywhere in the world.

7. Diesel and gasoline from the refinery will conform to Euro V specifications.

8. The refinery design complies with World Bank, US EPA, European emission norms and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) emission/effluent norms.

9. Incorporates state-of-the-art technology.

10. Designed to process large variety of crudes, including many of the African crudes, some of the middle eastern crudes and the US Light Tight Oil.

11. 65 million cubic meters of sand dredged, costing approximately €300 million, using the world’s largest dredgers.

12. Bought over 1,200 units of various equipment to enhance the local capacity for site works.

13. Bought 332 cranes to build up equipment installation capacity.

14. Built the world’s largest granite quarry to supply coarse aggregate, stone column material, stone base, stone dust and material for breakwater (10 million tons per year production capacity).

15. Developed a port and constructed two quays with a load bearing capacity of 25 tons/square meter to bring over dimensional cargoes close to the site directly.

16. Constructed two more quays in the port with a capacity to handle up to Panamax vessels to export, two quays to handle liquid cargoes. The port will have six quays, including a roll on/roll off quay.

17. In the course of the civil works, 700 piles were drilled on some with total number of piles up to 250,000.

18. It has 177 tanks of up 4.742 billion liters capacity.

19.Dangote is one of the few companies in the world executing a Petroleum refinery & a Petrochemical complex directly as an Engineering,Procurement and Construction(EPC) contractor

20. Trained 900 young engineers in refinery operations abroad. Mechanical Engineers trained in the GE University in Italy. Process Engineers trained by Honeywell/Universal Oil Products (UOP) for six months.
