A WOMAN'S WRATH.
Writer: Unknown.
Producer: Funke Akindele Bello.
Sayo, a young lady who supposedly had a bright future was not interested in any form of education; formal and informal. Her mother and only brother tried all they could but all their efforts proved abortive.
After so much persuasion, she opted for tailoring. Just as mischivious as she was, there was no concentration. She was always getting into one trouble or the other. Her boss made her do different house chores; washing plates, cloths etc. That did not go well for somebody who was only forcing herself to learn. One day, she got tired and she walked away.
Her brother, Jide got her some money and she started "bend down and select" business. She was quite jovial and that helped in getting huge patronage. She was returning home one day, when she met Segun. One thing led to the other and they became lovers.
Segun was a third year student in their town. He was liked by many girls but he proved to Sayo that she was the one he wanted. Their love was a very strong one, I must say. Sayo got food stuffs and made food for Segun from the little she was making from her business.
Segun needed to pay school fees, he could not get from his dead broke parents. Sayo on the other hand could not afford to give him anything. She got her wares seized by the policemen at that time. She tried all she could and eventually she got some money from her friend and gave to Segun. She used the remaining to start a rodenticide business.
It was Segun's graduation. Sayo hosted a party for him, she even selected ankara for her friends. She felt on top of the world- Graduate's wife. Segun was out of school but he remained in that village. He looked for a job to no avail, so they both agreed that he should join Sayo in her business.
One day, they just finished changing their dress in the bush and were heading back home. Suddenly, a sack was thrown at them. Segun moved close and discovered the sack contains a huge amount of money. He carried it and moved aside. The thief who threw the money came searching and met Sayo on the floor. He asked for her money and threatened to shoot her. Sayo called Segun to come out from where he was hiding but there was no response. The thief fired at her leg and threatened to kill her if he didn't come out. Before he could fire the second time, he was shot down by a policeman.
Segun left with the money and Sayo lost one of her legs. She couldn't walk properly again and she became an element of mockery in the entire town. She couldn't bear it any more, so she packed her things and went to join her friend in Lagos. She helped her friend in her rice-selling business. After a while, she decided to get a job of her own. She started washing cloths from one house to the other. She encountered series of tortures and insults but she endured all.
Then, Sayo came across Madam Irene. Irene was so nice to her. She gave her lots of gifts and extra money till Sayo decided to work for her, only. One day, Madam Irene invited her into the house and there she saw Segun's picture. He was Irene's husband and they had a daughter!.
Sayo didn't wait for the food again, she left immediately. She told her friend about it and she advised her not to go to the house again. Sayo wanted to know more, she became closer to Irene. She was in the kitchen helping with the meal one day when Segun walked in, he had been away. He was surprised to see Sayo. All these years, Sayo was worried. She even thought Segun had been killed 😣. He tried to explain things to her, his wife came in and they couldn't continue their conversation.
The following day when Sayo went to resume work, she was not allowed in. She told her friend about it who insisted she should stay away from Segun and his family. Sayo knew a guy, MK, in her friend's shop. They became quite close and she used to share things with him. She told him about it and he helped her forget her sorrows by getting her drunk!.
In that drunk state, she went to Segun's house again and waited till evening when the wife returned. She confessed to the wife that Segun was her Ex. To Irene, all Sayo was saying was plain rubbish and unbelievable. Sayo told her personal stuffs which were true about Segun and Irene began to have a second thought. She invited Sayo into the house and got her arrested.
Sayo was made to sign an agreement to desist from disturbing Segun or even trying to move close to him. All her explanations at the Police station was abortive. Only her friend knew about the whole thing and believed her. Segun denied ever knowing her.
When they got back home, Segun placed a call to Sayo's friend and told her to warn her friend. In Segun's statement, Sayo was yelling over just 50 million naira which has not really yielded anything for him. He promised to look for #100,000 and send to her as soon as possible. Sayo snatched the phone from her friend and placed a whole lot of curses on Segun.
Sayo couldn't take it anymore. She had been maltreated. She had suffered!. She vowed to revenge. She went to meet MK and got a gun from him. She proceeded to Segun's house and met him on bed with his wife. She made Segun confess that truly he knew her and all he had become was from Sayo. Irene was surprised and bittered. Sayo shot him in the leg and Irene rushed out to call the police. Before they came in, Sayo had shot Segun, dead!. She got arrested...
Now...,
1) If you were Segun, what would you have done?.
2) If you were in Sayo's shoes, what step would you have taken?.
3) If you were the judge, how would you sentence Sayo?.
