27-year-old Man Arrested for Stealing In-law’s Car in Ogun

Men of the So-Safe Corps have arrested a 27-year-old man, Fatai Sholola, for stealing and selling a car belonging to his sister’s husband at N230,000 in Ogun state.

The Punch reported that So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, who disclosed this in a statement said Sholola was arrested during a routine patrol in Sango, Ado-Odo/Ota local government area around 2am on Friday, February 23.

Yusuf said the officers found car documents in the suspect’s bag after which he attempted to bribe the officers with N30,000 that was rejected and upon further interrogation, it was discovered that the suspect stole a car and it was the car documents that were found with him. “Sholola later confessed without torture that he stole a car that belongs to his blood sister’s husband and sold it to one Mallam Abdullahi Yahya at Onibuku Area of Ota at the rate of N230,000.”

It was gathered that the suspect declared wanted for the past eight days before he was intercepted by the corps officers on patrol and transferred to the Sango Divisional Police Headquarters.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Many people are in hell fire today because they had no respect for authority.

We have been exploring the life of Reuben. We already know that
Reuben was the first born of Jacob. He had the potentials to become great in life by being the supposed carrier of the Blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But he missed out in life because of his bankruptcy of character - he defiled his father’s bed.

Now, one character in Reuben that made him to defile his father’s bed was lack of self-control.

Reuben lacked self-control. He could not control himself. That was why his father said he was as unstable as water.

Reuben could not control his passion and desires. At a time, you may see Reuben to be very calm and cool, but at another time, he could be as wild as the wind. He was as unstable as water.

You see, anyone who cannot control his desires cannot control his destiny. When you have no control over your passion, you have no control over your portion.

Now, the second manifestation of Reuben’s bad character is his lack of respect for authority.

If he respected the authority of his father, he would not have slept with his father’s wife.

When you see anyone today who has no respect for the authority of man and that of God, that person has no future with God. Many people are in prison today because they have no respect for authority. Many people are in hell fire today because they had no respect for authority.

That will not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

*TOPIC: DOING GOOD – A ROUTE TO THE BLESSING*

SCRIPTURE: So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. GALATIANS 6:9 (NLT).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Doing what is good habitually and consistently is a pathway to the blessing.

A story was told of a young man who was a cleaner in an office. He came to the office before everyone else in the morning, and left after everyone had closed and gone for the day.

He never said, “I am not meant for this kind of work. I am just marking time here waiting for a better job,” but rather gave it everything that he had got; he gave his best to the job. He cleaned every office, and did every work that was assigned to him without complaining.

Then on a certain day, the Managing Director of the company called him and pointed an office to him with the instruction: “Clean that office for the General Manager. That is the office of the General Manager.”
When he was done cleaning the office, the Managing Director told him, “That is your office, and you are now the new General Manager of this company.”

Beloved, can you see the benefit of selfless and diligent service?

In another instance, a man, who lived abroad sent money to one of his contacts in Nigeria. He told the person, “Build for a house for me in my village, a house that I will live in.” He gave him the description of the kind of house he wanted.

Then the man went and built the house with all the energy he possessed. He built it and tastefully furnished it. He put every high-quality material he could gather. By the time he was done building the house, the owner returned and looked at everything he did, behold, it was of excellent quality.

When the man who built the house handed the house keys over to the owner (the man who lived abroad), he declined and said, “Take the keys. It is your house. I just wanted to prove you. I actually wanted to build a house for you. I wanted you to be the one to execute the project to see what you would do for yourself while thinking you were doing it for another person.”

You see, if the man thought he was doing it for someone else and put shabby roofing sheets and rotten wood on the roof, he would have cheated himself.”

Beloved, this is how life should be. You can get anything in life if you decide to be selfless and hard working. Doing what is good habitually and consistently is a pathway to the blessing.

1. Make up your mind to do what is good always. Be selfless and generous in doing good.

TOPIC: GOING UP BY THE POWER OF FAITH

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To deploy faith by the way you think, talk, move and act is the pathway to greatness.

Previously, we saw that we are destined for a destiny of greatness, excellence and distinction.

We also saw the forces of uprightness and right mentality as the forces behind excellence and distinction.

In our Study today, we shall be looking at the Force of Faith as a lifting force in life.

Faith is a lifter of life and destiny.
Matthew 9:29 says:
…according to your faith be it unto you.

Beloved, everything that is yours is accessible by faith!
You do not access things in God according to your cries, but according to your faith. Your treasures in God are not accessed according to your church attendance and sentiments but according to your audacity of faith.

You see, faith has to do with what you think, what you say consistently, how you move and the actions you take.

You do not act in faith anytime you move with a defeated mentality. You exercise faith when you move with sagacity, “ruggedity”, audacity, and authority. Faith is a product of what you believe on your inside and your action on your outside.

A person of faith does not behave beggarly. There is a way someone will give you a gift, and you have to reject it because faith does not beg. There is a favour you can refuse because it tends to reduce your dignity. If it is a favour that comes to impose inferiority complex on you, you reject it.

Abraham told the king of S***m, “Keep your goods and your gifts; I don’t need them. Keep everything in case later you start boasting that you made Abram rich” (Genesis 14:23-paraphrsed).

Beloved, faith is a lifting force. To deploy faith by the way you think, talk, move and act is the pathway to greatness.

Hardship: Lagos Govt slashes transport fare, to buy food items at discount

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday announced a 25 per cent rebate on fares for government-owned transport schemes in the state.

Sanwo-Olu made this known during a live media chat on Arise Tv.

He said that workers in the teaching sector will maintain the five days a week work schedule and the state government will ensure additional transport support for them.

The governor further stated that as part of measures to ease the economic challenges on residents, civil servants from level 1-14 will begin to work three days a week.

He added that the state government will open Sunday Markets in at least 42 identified markets where residents will be able to buy food items at a discounted price.

”You will only need able to buy items worth up to N25,000,” he added.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every passing day of your life presents you with an opportunity to define or redefine your destiny.

It has been confirmed that what you are today is the product of what you did or failed to do yesterday; and where you will be tomorrow is the product of what you are doing or fail to do today.

You see, every passing day of your life presents you with an opportunity to define or redefine your destiny.

For example, you may have the privilege of opening a door for an elderly person, a chance to make a presentation, or offer a particular service; never hesitate to maximize it. That is an opportunity for you to redefine your destiny; maximize it by giving it your best. This is because wasted opportunities of yesterday are the reasons for the regrets of today.

You see, there are people who work in a place half-heartedly. It is common to hear such people say, “I am just working temporarily here. My real work is not this one; by the time I get my real work, I will give it my best.”

If you have this kind of mentality, you are wasting your time. You are in essence wasting your life because time is the building block of your life. The wastage of time is the wastage of life. When the time ends for a person, we say, he has died.

You see, as time passes, and you are not investing your life and the best of all you have into time, your life is wasting without your knowledge.

The wisdom is, anywhere you find yourself per time, whether as a cleaner, sweeper, tailor, mechanic, or messenger, etc., give that task everything you possess. Let it become your habit to always give your best per time. After a short time, that excellence that has become your habit will form your character and your character will determine your destiny.

Hike of foodstuffs price: ‘It’s artifically manipulated’ – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, on Wednesday said the hike in the prices of foodstuff was artificial and deliberate.

Sani said some unscrupulous individuals are hiding behind inflation to hike the prices of foodstuffs.

Posting on X, the social critic said the reports of food prices coming down show that the hike was being manipulated.

According to Sani: “The fact that food prices are coming down in some states as reported in the papers shows that the prices are artificially and deliberately manipulated by some unscrupulous individuals hiding behind the inflation.”

The economic hardship in the country had led to a hike in the prices of foodstuffs across the country.

The shortage of foodstuffs was also linked to the hoarding by some people and illegal smuggling to neighbouring countries.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Nothing kills mentality like iniquity. Sin ruins sense.

It has been established that character determines destiny. Character affects potentials. Your character can bring either blessings or curses upon your life.

Previously, we saw how Reuben defiled his father’s bed and how that singular act brought a curse upon his life and generation.

In our Study today, we shall look at a major character flaw of Reuben.

Now, what is that character flaw that Reuben manifested?
Reuben operated with a lack of mentality.

He was not reasoning right, he wasn’t thinking correctly. He lacked mentality!

Reuben lacked mentality for sleeping with his father’s wife. Why did he not decide to go and marry at that point? The only woman he saw was his father’s wife. Nothing kills mentality like iniquity. Sin ruins sense.

Today, you see some people behaving senselessly and you will be wondering how they think. This is because their senses have been ruined by sin.

When you see a man who is married, but keeps other girls in five-star hotels and his wife and children are suffering at home, that is bankruptcy of mentality. There are some young unmarried men who are having serial immoral affairs; that is a manifestation of senselessness.

As a lady or a married woman, you have no sense if you go after either married or unmarried men. Iniquity makes you senseless. But that shall not be your portion in Jesus Name.

REMEMBER THIS: Nothing kills mentality like iniquity. Sin ruins sense.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Refuse to ruin your sense through sin.
2. Live right to have sense and right mentality.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Great potentials without character equal great disaster.

Previously, we saw how Reuben was cursed for sleeping with his father’s wife and defiling his father’s bed.

This clearly shows that a life without character is a life that is liable to curses. One of the greatest challenges that can confront anyone is to exist without character. To exist without character is to naturally exist under a curse.

No one needs to curse an armed robber. No one needs to curse a young lady who is donated to a life of prolific fornication and adultery.

You see, potentials without character equal frustration. Reuben had great potentials. He was the first born of Jacob, carrying the blessing of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but for the lack of character, his potential was limited. Potential without character is inconsequential.

In our world today, there are many people who have great gifts, talents, and potentials but very minimal character. Frustration is the portion of anyone with great gifts without character on earth. Even eternity with God in heaven is not guaranteed for such people.

Great potentials with no character equal great disaster. You will not end like Reuben.

In order not to end like up Reuben, you must not only develop your potentials, you must also develop your character. Make up your mind to work on your character. Do not allow your character to bring curses upon you; let your character enhance your destiny. You shall end well in Jesus’ Name.

REMEMBER THIS: Great potentials with no character equal great disaster.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. By all means, pay attention to your character.
2. Refuse to indulge in anything that will affect your destiny and bring curses upon you.

A*o Rock Villa, CBN, 84 other MDAs Face Disconnection Over AEDC Debt

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has issued a disconnection notice to the Presidential Villa, along with 85 other ministries, departments, and agencies under the federal and state governments.

The AEDC disclosed this in a disconnection notice published in a national dailies Punch, ThisDay on Monday, February 19, 2024. The DisCo stated that the total outstanding debt as of December 2023 amounted to N47.195 billion.

According to the noticed the indebted MDAs have been given a 10-day notice, that is February 28, 2024 to offset their bills or face disconnection.

Part of the notice reads: "The relevant MDAs are hereby given that AEDC shall, after the expiration of 10 days from the day of the publication to pay their debt, that is, after Wednesday, February 28, 2024, embark on disconnection of service to them until they discharge their obligation to pay us their debts." It listed the Chief of Defence Staff, Barracks and Military formations, the Federal Capital Territory Authority, and the Ministry of Finance as its top debtors in the period under review. Others are the Ministry of Power, Ministry of State Petroleum, Central Bank Governor, the Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC, Nigeria Police Force, and other MDAs listed as debtors to AEDC.

Otukpo residents protest high cost of tuition fees at FUHSO

Residents of Otukpo in Benue, on Monday morning, took to the streets to protest the high cost of tuition fees and denial of appointments and employment to indigenes at the Federal University Health Sciences Otukpo, Benue State.

The protesters who staged a walk around the Otukpo township and the temporary site of the institution lamented the high cost of tuition at the school and the deliberate refusal of the management to employ indigenes of the community in an institution located in their ancestral home.

Residents who carried placards and chanted songs, said their children and wards are equally denied admission into the university.

FUHSO is a specialized university established to make education in specialized fields easier and more affordable

Lawyer Accused Of Abusing 10-Year-Old House Help Lands In Police Custody

Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor, a lawyer, who allegedly mistreated her 10-year-old house help, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police.

In a statement, Ohaeri Joseph, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Women Affairs, stated that the lawyer is in custody with the weapons used to harm the child included a broken bottle, a knife, and an electric pressing iron.

“Days after the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Ohanenye, placed a N2 million bounty on an Onitsha-based lawyer, Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, for child abuse in Onitsha, she has been arrested.

Ohaeri stated that the ministry would collaborate with the police to initiate an immediate investigation into the matter

The statement adds that the girl is still undergoing medical treatment in the hospital, assuring members of the public that she will get justice.

TOPIC: YOUR TODAY, A SEED FOR YOUR TOMORROW

SCRIPTURE: Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your today is your seed for your tomorrow; you must give your best today to arrive at your best tomorrow.

It has been confirmed that excellence is key to prominence and eminence. Giving your best is key to leaving where you are to where you want to be.

Your today is your seed for your tomorrow; you must give your best today to arrive at your best tomorrow. The seed of excellence you sow today determines the fruit of prominence you will reap tomorrow.

At your place of work, you must decide to give your best. Do everything you can today; give out everything you are able to give. Give out your very best. And when you give out your best consistently, it becomes a habit. Anything that is your habit becomes your character, and anything that is your character eventually defines your destiny.

For example, Joseph had the character of hard work and concern for people. And this character brought him into the destiny of eminence and prominence.

When Joseph was taken to Potiphar’s house, he gave his best to his work as a servant. He kept working hard until Potiphar’s wife lied against him and he was sent to the prison.

In the prison, he gave his best to the task, ministering to the prisoners. He was concerned about the prisoners’ welfare. Whenever he saw a depressed prisoner, he would ask him “Why are you sad? Why are you looking dull? Why are you looking depressed?”

This continued until one day, the chief butler and the baker of Pharaoh, who were prisoners in the same prison, had separate dreams one night and were both troubled. Joseph interpreted their dreams. One was restored to his work and the other was hanged by Pharaoh.

When Pharaoh had a troubling dream, it was the chief butler whose dream Joseph interpreted earlier that told Pharaoh about Joseph.

Joseph was taken out of the prison; he interpreted Pharaoh’s dream and was made the Prime Minister of Egypt. It was Joseph’s character that took him to the palace, the place of eminence and prominence.

Beloved, what you do today determines where you will be tomorrow.

Jacob had twelve sons, and Reuben was the first. But one day, Reuben defiled his father’s bed by sleeping with his father’s wife (Genesis 35:22). That act brought a curse on his life, a curse he never recovered from till he died.

At the end of Jacob’s life, he gathered all his children and began to give them rewards according to what they had done.
To Reuben, Jacob said:
Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
Genesis 49:3-4.

Jacob seemed to have told Reuben, “Reuben, you are my first born. You are my strength and power, the excellency of strength and dignity, but you shall be unstable as water. Your doom is sealed because you defiled your father’s bed” (Paraphrased).

You see, the most critical determinant of your destiny is not your intelligence, money, handsomeness, or beauty, but your character. Your character is the greatest determinant of your destiny.

Who you are determines what you can become. There are many people who want to become many things in life such as doctors, lawyers, great preachers, entrepreneurs etc. All these are good visions and ambitions. However, until your character is in place, your destiny is out of place. What you will become in future is a product of who you are currently.

Therefore, you need to deliberately work on your character so you don’t end up disastrously in life like Reuben.

REMEMBER THIS: Who you are determines what you can become.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. In relation to your character and manners, ask yourself, “Who am I? How solid is my character?”
2. Make up your mind not to end up like Reuben.
