So this morning I was in the midst of some elderly people some older than my dad and some younger than my dad I was enjoying the conversation they are having, talking about life and experiences they had while growing up.
I kept quiet and listened to them while the conversation was going on and when some jokes comes up, i do join them and laughed.
But something stroked me when one of them probably my mum's age range said that so many things have spoiled in this generation and he thinks that it should be better if we bring back some traditional ways things were done in the 90s, 80s, and 70s.
I hopped in and asked
"like what and what are you trying to relate to?"
Though inside of me I was thinking it was about the economy and conditions of the nation.
He said that Phones, Facebook, WhatsApp, and some other social media platforms (probably what he meant) have spoiled things and how things used to be.
I ask further like on what basis sir?
He said that when he was in Onitsha that every morning you come out and check your box to know if you're sent a later.
That then if he wants to talk to his father that he writes a later to him and then before his basic 4(primary 4) that he's already writing later and he can speak English fluently mind you that this same man still pronounces when as "qwane" and two as "thuuu"
I laughed and he continued.
Just imagine if you want to talk to someone you will just pick up your phone and call the person anyhow. No respect(he argued).
Just imagine if you want to talk to your parents, you will just call the person on the phone and say whatever you want to say with no hesitation (just like one of my nephews does when he wants to talk to me and my family) during their own time you will sit down and write later to your parents, and wait for days before you will get replies.
I laughed at this man so hard that both I and my dad couldn't hold it any longer.
He continued to brag.
During our own time, we use to go to the newspaper stand to read the trends in the country, and he doesn't like to miss any happening in the country but now, any small thing ha asi na afuru ya na Facebook.
Then I asked oga are you trying to say that these innovations are bad?
He said yes,
Phone has spoiled everything, nobody watches news on television now it's now everything phone phone phone phone.
My dad said that Facebook and WhatsApp are not bad oooh that it depends on how you use them and on what basis you are using them, he said to my dad forget that nwokem.
Ife emebi go.
Am sure my dad didn't know when he said to the man "" Nnaa you be local man😂""
Honestly, this man no like easy life and na hater of better options in life.
Pen down.
