Interested in Selling Digital Products, but not sure what to create?

Creating digital products is one way you can monetize what you know.

Even as a coach, VA, or service provider, you can create digital products and sell them to people who want to work with you but can't afford your services.

Here are some examples of what you could create with different industries:

1. Copywriter
👉 Product idea 1: Website copy toolkit (plug-n-play templates, and tools people can use to write their website copies on their own)
👉 Product idea 2: A video training or step-by-step ebook guide on how to effectively write copies for your business (sales, email and website copies).

2. Personal Growth or Mindset Coach
👉 Product idea 1: Mindset Makeover (a pre-recorded workshop on how to overcome the most common limiting beliefs holding you back from starting your business)
👉 Product idea 2: Change your Life in a Year Toolkit (yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily planner, productivity planner, goal setting worksheet, habits tracker, a guide to help you set and achieve your goals, my framework for silencing self-doubt, inner critic and negative self-talk and an accountability group)

3. Hairstylist
👉 Product idea 1: DIY Hair Makeover: (a step-by-step video on how to care for your hair + common mistakes to avoid and recommended products for healthy hair)
👉 Product idea 2: 100 Style inspiration (a step-by-step hair styling picture guide to help you style your own hair and look confident and beautiful on every occasion)

4. Baker
👉 Product idea 1: E-book: The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Own Home Cake Business (how-tos, tips, step-by-step guide, and essential tools you need to get started as a new baker).
👉 Product idea 2: Recipe Book (100+ delicious, melt-in-the-mouth, and fail-proof cake and pastry recipes you can bake at home and enjoy with your loved ones or bake for clients)

5. Photographer
👉 Product idea 1: Posing Guide (Self-Portraits for Business Owners, guides and inspirations to help you get the best photos from your sessions)
👉 Product idea 2: Presets (Now you can edit your photos like a pro and get professional-looking pictures with these Photoshop or Lightroom presets)

6. Tech VA or Website Designer
👉 Product idea 1: WordPress for Beginners (Can't afford to hire a web designer or Tech VA for your WordPress website? Learn how to build and maintain it yourself with this beginner-friendly tutorial).
👉 Product idea 2: Step-by-step guide to using Kajabi to set up your course like a pro

There are so many ways you can profitably monetize any skill, expertise, or knowledge online. You just need to pick one and run with it.

I still maintain my stance on the fact that EVERY skill or knowledge is monetizable online.

Find out how to monetize what you already know.

Another huge mistakes VAs make that sabotages business is not setting clear expectations.

It’s important to be clear with your clients about what you can and cannot do and your availability and turnaround times. And let them know they are not the only ones you are serving. You have other clients and a business that needs you.

I had a couple of clients who expected me to work for them like their employees. We didn’t particularly discuss our expectations. But somewhere in their head, they thought I was their employee who should answer them 24/7, whenever they popped up, I was to be there. They thought I shouldn’t look for or sign any client again since I was working with them (and for how much????). And somewhere in my own head, I was my own boss who was merely providing services to other bosses. Needless to say, we clashed.

Setting clear expectations from the start can help prevent misunderstandings and ensure a positive working relationship.

Is your smartphone an asset or a liability?

With a smartphone in your hands and good internet access, anything is possible and this drastically reduces your excuses.

The phone that entertains you can also educate you, make you money and help you improve your life.

The world has moved ONLINE, this means you either adapt and stop waiting for the day it all falls apart or you get left behind.

This also means that you can now create your own opportunities with the abundance of resources out there.

If you have skills, you have a chance to thrive.

Are you upskilling yourself?

PS: You can earn at least 6 figures as a virtual assistant using your smartphone.

[Confession]

The past months and weeks have been challenging 😥 for me and my business. I abandoned and neglected my business while focusing on delivering results to my client. Then one thing led to another I lost my clients.

So, here I was, with no client, no business, no engaged social media audience, an abandoned website/blog that's now growing w**d, and almost broke.

At some point, I thought I was going to lose it and fall back to where I was before I started this business, but I am back for good 😌

This time, I am not pursuing any client, at least not yet. Rather, I am focusing on

👉 putting myself out there (done hiding. done sitting on the sidelines and watching people who don't have my skills and experience crush it),
👉 building my business,
👉 doing all the things I neglected, creating digital products,
👉 making an impact by sharing and teaching others,
👉 and building relationships with other creators, VAs, and business owners.

I will eventually get back to serving business owners, but for now, I'll serve my business only.

⚠️Mistakes Virtual Assistants Make coming your way! ⚠️

📢 Nothing more to say other than I’m going to talk about some mistakes that are common with new VAs and could cost you or sabotage your business. Watch this space.

✍️ I have written a blog post on this that covers about 11 mistakes I see new VAs make (speaking from experience) and how to avoid them. Visit the blog to read and share your thoughts. I will just summarize each mistake here.

👀 If YOU have a new VA business, you offer skilled services online (social media, etc) or you’re looking to become a VA and start offering services online, then turn on notifications for my posts as they could really help you 💁🏻‍♀️✍️😙

👉Mistakes virtual assistants make: Not Working in their Business!

When you are passionate or really want to impress your clients, it's easy to be swamped by or get carried away by clients' work that you neglect your business.

While working on clients' projects, you need to also be working in your business.

What will happen to your business if 2 or 3 of your clients decide not to renew the next month? Will you still have a business?

I didn't. I also had nothing to show as proof to new prospects. My portfolio was outdated. Dead, abandoned social media accounts and website/blog that was growing w**d. No prospects. No passive income products to fall back to. So, when I lost my clients, I also lost my business.

📌📌To avoid this mistake, I'd suggest you have a day or 2 in the week where you focus solely on your business (creating content, social media, website, portfolio update, prospecting, networking, creating additional income sources). No client work whatsoever.

Life is not about who you once were. It’s about who you are now, and who you are becoming.

Don’t live your life stuck in you'd past (mistakes, failures, rejections and all),

Don't live your unhappy with what you do.

For many years I was stuck in my past failures, mistakes, failed hope, and 'failed potentials' (you know people telling you, "you have potentials, you're gonna do great things, you are this and that...").

I couldn't move on. I couldn't let myself dream new dreams and take advantage of new opportunities and craft a new path for myself.

I stayed stuck and broke. Unhappy. Isolated. Dreaming, hoping that something will drastically change.

Then it dawned on me that years were passing, and I wasn't adapting or changing.

Our identity is fluid. That means who we are or think ourselves to be, what we want or yearn to create or become shouldn't be fixed.

Your life is meant to be filled with adventures, taking chances, and discovering who you are. Even if that means making mistakes, or changing your mind 100 times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I mean, I’ve gone from being the extremely introverted quiet Grace who avoid conversations, confrontations and people at all cost to this person who now expresses herself so much that my siblings now think I've never been, nor am I quiet or introverted.

And on top of that I now an online business that requires me to do a lot of talking and putting myself out there.

Identity is fluid.
Circumstances change.
Individuals change.

I know it can get overwhelming, and sometimes stressful. I know you are going to face moments of doubt. But don’t let these stop you. Let these experiences shape you. Let every roadblock and mistake bring you joy (yes, joy!) and understanding.

You are destined for amazing things.

New virtual assistants are always eager to take on as many clients as possible to build their portfolios and increase their income.

We overcommit because we think doing so will allow us to earn more and gather more experience in a short time.
And we do this because we expect to have more time in the future to finish the task than we have in the present.

When I first started out, I was more broke than the word broke. So I took on as many clients as possible. It didn’t matter what they were looking for and how much they were offering. Just reach out, and you get a yes from me.

At some point, I had well over 10 clients a month needing different services from me.

Imagine that you are a graphics designer (Pinterest pin creator in my case) and you have to deliver 100 graphics in 2 days to 10 clients in different niches and you have other clients' needs to attend to.

Yep, that was me.

I was burnt out, under a lot of pressure, and at some point dreaded the thought of opening my laptop, emails, or messenger. I had no time for myself, no time to work in my own business, no time to uplevel my skills, couldn’t even enjoy the money I was making. And yes, not being able to meet up with deadlines and disappointing my clients.

See, taking on too much work for whatever reason, often leads to
👉 burnout,
👉 decline in the quality of your work,
👉 under-delivering and never meeting up with client deadlines
👉 disappointing your client, losing their trust
👉 and not getting testimonials (which helps you get another client) and a referral from them, which means you’ll struggle to convince a new prospect to pay you.

You can avoid this mistake by:
👉setting goals for your business and finances and timelines so you don't try it make it all in a short time
👉 examining your schedule and available time and prioritise what you think is necessary
👉 learning to say no to clients and referring them to other VAs where necessary.

Let's get back to the basics shall we?

A lot of people think virtual assistants are employees and thus treat them as one. And that's a mistake I have seen most business owners make and even experienced first hand.

I see a lot of job opps requesting the VAs to have a certain years of experience (not a problem), a degree, and then send over an application and a CV. This is just a no no.

So let's clear things up by defining who or what a VA is!

Learning a tech skill or a new skill is good.

But if all you're doing is adding one skill or the other to skill box and never leveraging them to add a few extra $$ or ₦₦ to your bank account, then you're doing it wrong.

This is exactly what I did a few years ago and I was more broke than the word itself. I love learning. But no matter what I learned, I never felt adequate, like I knew enough to start earning an income from them.

Learning and acquiring knowledge on different topics is good. But the goal shouldn't just be to fill your head with a bunch of stuff, but also to profit from them.

You don't need a new skill. Start with what you already know and see how you can monetize it.

There are different ways to make money from what you know, and you don't have do it alone -- even though you could, but it will take you a longer time and many errors. So, take advantage of my one-time low offer class. More details coming!

Hello November! hello Instagram!! Hello Naija!!
I took unplanned break off everything.

Life took its toll on me and I couldn't keep up with anything anymore.
My unplanned, impromptu break definitely broke my clients hearts because I couldn't even get myself to communicate what was going on in my life with them. So needless to say, I've lost good, loyal clients.

And I'm basically starting all over.
But I'm choosing to take a break off offering numerous services and focus on website design and development, and training for upcoming VA's (I get lots of questions about starting a VA business and receiving payment from international clients)

So, this is me welcoming you again to my space.

As someone who has been around the blogging world for nearly 10 years (I created my first blog in 2013),

I can confidently tell you that starting a blog for your business (it doesn't matter what kind of business it is) is one of the best (if not the best) marketing decisions you'll make for your business in this digital age and time.

Business blogging is a great way to market and grow your business alongside your email marketing and social media channels.

It is a great way to show up and answer the questions your customers and potential customers or client's are already asking on search engines.

And that’s not all- here are 4 other reasons you should definitely start a blog for your business! 😍

1. Increase your website traffic ~

Creating and publishing blog posts increases your appearance on search engines (Google) and increases your visibility to potential clients and customers. 💻

2. Repurpose your content ~

You can take your existing social media post (if you share more on social media) and turn it into a blog post that's optimized for search engines (because your best performing social media post doesn't show up on search engines for the same keyword).

You can also repurpose your blog content on your social media channels through images, videos/reels or on your stories to create more value 📲

3. Converts your website traffic into leads ~

Blogging gives you the opportunity to build the know, like and trust factor for your business without ads.

People are more likely to subscribe to your email list or purchase from you after they've read a post on your blog that offered some form of value to them.

4. Diversify your income source ~

If you're selling physical products or services, blogging allows you to explore other legit ways of earning an income.

Do you have a blog for your business?
No? What's stopping you from starting a blog?

Let’s talk about images 📸

I know I should probably be the last person to talk about images, showing face, and photoshoots because:

1. I can't pose for pictures to save my life (I've watched several YouTube videos and read several blogs on 'how to pose for pictures' but I still can't get a hang of it),
2. I make weird faces to cover my shyness (see picture 4),
3. I'd not share anything at all if I have to show face (something I'm intentionally and consciously starting to do)
4.
5. So I know, that having a photoshoot and showing your face can be confronting and scary (especially if you're introverted). 🙈

But, I want to remind you, that a professional photoshoot will make your website stand out from your competitors.

It's no news that visual content has a huge impact on your brand's online identity and the success of your website.

Are you planning to build a website or redesign your existing website?

🗝️ Here are 3 key types of images you want your photographer to capture for your website

1️⃣ Landscape photos with a neutral background and lots of white space

Landscape images are great for full width and banner images. They can also be used as your hero image or within your blog posts. I recommend you take or gather lots of these types of photos as you'll use more landscape images on your website.

2️⃣ Photos of you working or of your processes

Photos of you in the act ot, such as typing on a laptop, coaching clients, writing on a whiteboard, making art in your home, baking, cooking, teaching, working out or yoga, give the feeling of authority and allows your website visitors to connect with you.

3️⃣ Location, office or shop images

Photos of you working in your office, at home, in a coffee shop, or any location are perfect for adding personality to your website, and they also work well for social media and advertising.

Your categories are the main/broad ideas, and the tags are smaller ideas that gives specific details of what your post is about.

👉 You can have as much tags as possible on your blog
👉 and use up to 5 tags per post.

👉 But, stick to 5 or 6 categories max on your blog.

👉 And use only ONE category per post in most of your posts -- especially your pillar contents.

It's hard to show readers (AND Google) you're an expert on a topic if your blog has unrelated or too many topics.

In a nutshell, these tips helps both you and your website visitors. ⠀

05/04/2022

This is probably my first post on Instagram this year.

I recently lost a potential $4k client because of my social media inactivity (would I say inconsistency).

After our discovery call and an agreement to invoice her, she went over to check my IG and Facebook activities, then emailed me that she no longer needed my services -- I wasn't actively sharing content on social media!

I really don’t know how to be here, on Instagram (social media generally) as a business owner, right now.

It feels so overwhelming, confusing and overly demanding to try and show up daily on Instagram.

I mean you have to create and share the content, be present to engage with others, reels, videos, stories and whatever feature that will be introduced next.

A lot of times I just feel lost and unable to put my thoughts together and decide on what to share or what to focus on.

I prefer to just create an SEO optimized blog post, and go back to the blog post to update my keywords once in a while-- anything that doesn't need me to engage on a daily basis

Is anyone else feeling just so lost with this?

What system do you have in place that helps you show up here consistently?

Do you have a website for your business?

Some weeks ago, I ran a poll in one of the Facebook groups I recently joined. I asked if female coaches and entrepreneurs would prefer having only a website or only an Instagram profile if you had to select one. And it seems like 62% of the voters prefer having only an Instagram channel rather than having a website.

Relying on only one marketing tool is a mistake a lot of entrepreneurs do these days.

Here are the reasons why businesses should prioritize having a professional website:

❤️ Read the slides.
❤️ You have full control over your website
❤️Social media does not directly contribute to SEO ranking and SEO is important if you ever want clients to find you through search engines

Invest in your website today so you have full control over your business and online presence rather than just having a marketing tool 💝

I haven't shared a post here in nearly 2 weeks. My website is new and isn't fully set up yet (because I am lazy when it comes to my own business or I get carried away working on client's projects that I forget mine),

But this week alone I have had 2 client discovery calls, and guess where they found me? GOOGLE search result!

I don't only design/build your website, I also optimize it for SEO, set up your GMB so you can get found on Google in no time

You probably already know you should have a freebie, or lead magnet, for capturing new email subscribers. Whether you already have one or you’re looking to create one, these are few tips you should keep in mind when creating your freebie.

Growing a social media following is important.

But don't invest all your time into growing a following on Instagram or Facebook. Start building your email list by creating irresistible freebies and offering them to your audience.

What are you reading?

For me, that will be The Intelligence Trap by David Robson.

This book has been on my reading list for nearly a year. I was less than enthusiastic about reading another book on the psychology of decision making. I picked it up this month because a blogger I follow couldn't stop talking about it in her weekly emails. I changed my mind and decided to read the entire book only four pages into the Introduction 🤓🤓

The society reveres 'intelligence' and we lots of people boasting every day about their intelligence and most times being unnecessarily judgemental and critical of others. Some of us now think 'being intelligent' is a relevant attribute to have or describe oneself as. Yet no one asks: “Does it really matter?”

According to this fun and fascinating read from David Robson, it doesn't. In fact, it could be a liability.

>> This book celebrates the power of humility and curiosity
>> It could serve as a life manual for those "afflicted" with a very high IQ.
>> It should be an eye-opener for anyone whose life or profession concerns issues of intelligence.
>> For the average person, it offers two benefits. First, do not be intimidated by intelligence. Because, outside their own narrow area of expertise (which they've probably developed for years), intelligent people are no more trustworthy than anyone else. Second, "what matters is not intelligence, but wisdom. And wisdom is within reach of anyone. However, wisdom does not emerge from a vacuum. It matures over time through consistent practice of the principles described within."

>> 2 fav quotes from the book (so far),

“Intelligent and educated people are less likely to learn from their mistakes, for instance, or take advice from others. And when they do err, they are better able to build elaborate arguments to justify their reasoning, meaning that they become more and more dogmatic in their views. Worse still, they appear to have a bigger bias blind spot, meaning they are less able to recognize the holes in their logic.”

“Without humility, you are unable to learn.”

''Blogging is dead"
“Social media killed blogging"
“It’s too late to start a blog.”
“There’s just too much competition already out there.”
"I'm already making money on Instagram so why do I need a blog?"
"Blogging takes time, I don't have such time to commit to it..."

Do any of these sentences sound familiar?

They do to me because I hear things like that ALL. THE. TIME.

Whether it is from my clients, or prospective students, or Facebook friends, or just in all those blogging and online business circles, those self-defeating talks that blogging is no longer a “thing” have been around for years.

But guess what? Blogging isn’t dead! People are launching new blogs — and finding incredible success — every single day.

And all those naysayers that perpetually claim it's no longer possible to make legit income blogging?

Well, let them talk.

Because it’s way easier to focus on the negative than it is to actually dig in and do the work. Its way easier to claim something doesn't work than it is to try.

But here’s the truth:

There’s never been a better time to be a blogger than right now.

Facebook/Instagram was down for a few hours and many people panicked. Don't let the end of any platform be the end of your business.

Get a website. Build a blog on that website. Learn basic SEO. Future-proof your business.

What is keeping you from starting a blog?
What blogging myths have you heard, been told, or believed?
