I Witnessed First Graduation, Tinubu Was Not Among Government College's Graduates' - Ex-Governorship Candidate

A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic People (PDP) in Lagos State, Babatunde Gbadamosi has reacted to the claim that President Bola Tinubu attended Government College, Lagos.

There have been some questions on the PO EYE attendance of the President in the school, with claims indicating that he joined the school in 1970. The former governorship candidate further stated that Tinubu was not among the first set who graduated from the school in 1979. 9513

He further stated that he was a mate with the late Jide Tinubu in the school, but it is almost impossible for him to be four years junior to Tinubu's father.

2023: Tinubu attacks Afenifere leader for endorsing Peter Obi

Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has lambasted Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo for claiming the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation has endorsed the Labour Party Presidential flag bearer, Peter Obi as its candidate for the coming election.

Recall that the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Jare Ajayi, had in a statement on July 23, said Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC “will only give continuity to Buhari’s incompetence. We know Peter Obi very well, that is why we endorse him”.

Also, Peter Obi had, in a tweet on August 23, said he visited the leadership of the group.

He said, “Presently visiting PA Ayo Adebanjo and members of the South and Middle Belt Leadership Forum. The National leaders of the Labour Party and other stakeholders are here too,”

However, in a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, director, Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Tinubu alleged that Pa Adebanjo has turned Afenifere into his personal property.

The former Lagos Governor described Adebanjo as the leader of ‘Ohanifere Venture’, insisting that an individual, cannot equate himself with the socio-cultural and socio-political organisation.

The statement reads partly, “Papa Ayo Adebanjo does not speak for Afenifere. He is free as an individual to support anyone he likes, in furtherance of his democratic right.

“We know for a fact that Baba has turned Afenifere into his personal estate as acting leader. We are also certain that there was nowhere Afenifere, as we know it, met and took a decision to adopt Peter Obi as a candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

“We respect the age of Baba Adebanjo, but he cannot turn Afenifere into his personal franchise for any political alliance”.

Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC), an NGO, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his pledge to ensure free and fair 2023 general elections.
Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, the President of the NGO, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

NAN recalls that in an address at United Nations General Assembly recently Buhari promised the commitment of his administration to supervise credible polls in 2023.

“I have set the goal that one of the enduring legacies I would like to leave is to entrench a process of free, fair and transparent and credible elections,” he said.

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has denied report linking him to party leaders who recently pulled out from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign team.

Anyanwu, who, in statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ikenna Onuoha, reiterated his loyalty and commitment to the party, described the report as false and handiwork of detractors.

The statement reads: “The attention of the National Secretary of PDP, Anyanwu, has been drawn to a mischievous and frivolous story on social media that he has pulled out from Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Council.

“The story is totally false and baseless and, therefore, should be disregarded. However, such propaganda and campaign of calumny is meant to blackmail the PDP national scribe and create infighting in our party.

“It is worthy of note that the falsehood remains the handiwork of enemies of our party struggling to distract Anyanwu and his colleagues from dislodging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023 general elections and save the country from misrule.

“The PDP National Secretary further assured Nigerians of the party’s readiness to oust President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government, and, thereafter, enthrone good governance that will be anchored on transparency, sustainable and human capital development
