Dear Upcoming Video Editor, stop charging too highly for your gigs.
Give yourself time to grow!
Charge based on your level of expertise!

On a more serious note now...
Dear upcoming Filmmaker,
“Dont charge more than your skill. A a matter of fact, this is a stage where you should do more free works to build your Portfolio.
Hone the skill first and money will follow!
If money is the first thing for you, you will never get it, at least not through legal means.
I've shot free weddings before; I've done videos for people that gave me N100 etisalat recharge cards; I've done free works to gain someone's access and attention; I've done free countless works just to have a portfolio and guess what? I was doing it hapilly; I was learning; I was growing!
Sadly... today's newbies will charge you so hugely and when you ask to see what they've worked on in the past (their portfolio) you will be wondering “what the ~heck~ is this?”
I do not know who advised you to always charge so highly when you don't even have what it takes to charge at such level but you should stop doing that, I'd advise.
Maybe this is why you've been broke. Who knows?
At this level, If the works/gigs coming your way for now is still 10k, 5k, 3k, 2k or 1k or even recharge card or even a “Thank you, God bless you” payment...
Accept it and do it will all your might; they are seeds! You will reap them in relationships, recommendations, connects, and huge cash returns too.
Don't be in haste!
Build!
Scale!
