Kano Governorship Election Tribunal, Hearing Continues Today

July 11, 2023

The Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has resumed today before 3-Judge-Panel, lead by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay.

12 witnesses already testified for the All Progressives Congress, (Petitioner).

APC is challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for declaring Abba Kabir Yusuf of NNPP as winner of the election, conducted on 18th March, 2023.

APC, through its lead counsel Offiong Offiong SAN, is praying the Tribunal to declare that Abba Yusuf is not qualified to contest the election, alleging that his name was not being in the list of members of NNPP sent to INEC.

In his response, Abba Kabir Yusuf, through his lead counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo SAN, described, the APC’s petition as dead on arrival, academic exercise and privolous.

Kano Building Collapsed : Gov Ganduje Revoked Land Allocation Converted to Parking Space

Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has revoked the area where 3 storey building collapsed at Beirut road GSM market, arguing that, "Originally this place should be a parking space only. It is too small for shops construction."

Amid jubilation by the marketers, during his visit to the scene of the incident, he reminded that, a very powerful Technical Committee was instituted to look into remote and immediate causes of the tragedy.

"We should know that, from onset any building should be designed and supervised by professionals. Within a period of one week only this Committee will submit its report. And we will act on it most appropriately," he reveals.

He urged marketers to cooperate with workers who are excavating debris, adding that, "After excavating the scene properly, government will immediately start providing a befitting parking space."

Governor Ganduje was with his Deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, some Commissioners and some top government functionaries.

APC NEW MEDIA, KANO STATE MET WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH DR. AMINU IBRAHIM TSANYAWA WHERE HE ACCORDS IT WITH TWO ALLOCATION FORMS OF OFFERS, OF PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE.

Representatives of APC New Media under the capacity leadership of Comr. Salmanu Rabiu Gwarzo have meet with the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Kano State Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa in his office for the discussions of some important issues regarding the development of Kano State especially in the health sector of the state.

During the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner in his magnanimous gestures accord two (2) offers of Permanent and Pensionable Appointments to the association.

The Honourable Commissioner further notified the association of their full involvement in the ministry's programs and implementations in dealing with health and health related problems across the five (5) emirates of the state and the state at large.

The meeting were blessed by the Director General Hospital Management Board HSMB, Kano State Dr. Nasiru Alasan Kabo, Principals and Provosts of health institutions in the state and other reputable staffs of the ministry.

The chairman of the association in his remarkable speech, acknowledged the Honourable Commissioner's effort to the association, especially in recognising the association worthy of the Commissioner's gestures.

" The association will work hand in hand with the ministry of Health in containing health and health related problems in the state especially in this period whereby infectious diseases were at rapid increase " the chairman said noting that the association have participated also in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic since before the first reported case in the state.

APC Ward Congress : Gov Ganduje Allays Fears, Says Process Faultless

- As APC Nat HQ commends process

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has allayed fear over the Ward Congress of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), explaining that, the perceived legal fear was on Executive not extraordinary Convention and Congress Committees.

"There is no fear. Because the Supreme Court ruling is referring to the Executive of our party at the national level. But we do not have Executive. What we have is Extraordinary Committee on Convention and Congresses all over the country," he explained.

He made the remarks immediately after the Ward Congress at his Ganduje Ward, in Dawakin Tofa local government, that saw to the affirmation of APC leaders at his ward, Saturday.

Explaining further that, "What we have in place is an adhoc committee in charge of making arrangement for Convention and Congresses. Like what we have seen, what is going on now."

Arguing that, it was not an Executive National Committee of the ruling APC, "...but an extraordinary arrangement in order to ensure peaceful Convention and Congresses of our great party. So we have no fear at all."

Specifically on Kano Ward Congress, governor Ganduje reminded that, they had a meeting when agreement for consensus was reached, he said "We had consensus to that effect. So we dont exercise any fear also."

Responding to some feelings that could come up, he quickly asserted that, "The majority will always have their own and the minority will have their say, anyway. So there is no way you get a hundred percent consensus.

But then, what you have seen today, there is nobody who raises alarm over how we are peacefully conducting our affirmation exercise today."

"So those who have complaints, their complaints will be entertained. There is an Appeal Committee, which is coming round. It will listen to those with any complaint," he disclosed.

The representative of APC National Headquarters, Dr Tony commended the process in the state and urged all those officials to always stick to party's philosophy.

"I can see that election is conducted, consensus done and affirmation done also. We thank His Excellency the Governor for the process. I am happy to also see women participation in the process," he appreciated.

In his part the Chairman Congress Committee in Kano, former Speaker, State House of Assembly, Ya'u Abdullahi 'Yan Shana reveals that, "All the 27 seats in the leadership of the party at Ganduje Ward, all seats were elected through consensus. The consensus was peaceful as I witnessed in all the places I visited today across the state."

Adding that, "Everywhere we visited there was mass turn out, just as we are seeing here. In all the 27 positions, each position was contested by only one person.

Governor Ganduje finally appreciated and urged that, "We are happy to witness this democratic exercise. This exercise is democracy in action. I also invite you, to be conscious of responsibilities vested in you."
