The major concern of every business owner, especially product owners and merchants, is making sales.

But there is a fundamental error I have found out which is common to many who own and sell products.

You may want to know, and I am willing to tell you, if you ride with me... let's shoot!

In tradefair Lagos and just like many other commodity markets, there are ekene, Ayo and musuf who import products xyz from China or any other country to sell.

In the first year, they make sales on the products. Second year they make sales but not as much as in the first year. By the third year, their sales have rapidly dropped and then they blame it either on bad economy or competition or village people. By the fourth year, they are struggling to sell and already considering changing line of business.

The scenario above, also applies to those who manufacture locally or merchants who source from local manufacturers to sell.

The big question they are not asking are these:

- Why did people buy in the first year?
- What made their sales drop in the successive years?
- Why did the product come to a point of struggling in the market?
