My daughter June is missing – Korra Obidi raises alarm

Famous US-based Nigerian dancer, Korra Obidi has raised alarm that her child, June is missing.
Speaking in a Facebook live video on her official page on Friday, Korra alleged that her daughter went missing from school.

While declaring June missing, she accused her estranged husband, Justin Dean of being the prime suspect.

She said; “I went to pick June up from school and she was missing. The teacher said someone came to pick June up by 1:00 and school closes by 2pm.

“June is not with me right now. She’s missing. And of course I know who kidnapped June from her new school. This is a brand new school, she started the new school yesterday, and she didn’t even finish the whole day of her second day in school.

“When I wanted to register her in the new school I didn’t want to bring the divorce drama issues to the school. So I put the names of both parents. So that’s how he was basically able to go to school and kidnapped her.”

I’m alive and healthy – Actress Ngozi Ezeonu denies death rumour

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Ezeonu has debunked reports that she is dead.
The actress in a video on her Instagram page, said she is “alive and healthy”.

She was reacting to reports on social media that said she had passed on.

According to her, her previous post in which she posted a candle was a tribute to a friend she recently lost.

“I lost a very close friend of mine, I posted a candle, a half-burnt candle and they now put my picture on that candle and everybody is saying that I died.

“It is wrong. I am alive and healthy, please.

In journalism, what you do when in doubt is you leave out. If you cannot get across to the person to at least confirm the story, you don’t post.

“Don’t do that, please. Don’t try it again. This is a new year, why would anybody want to hurt each other just because they want people to follow them?”

“The calls I have been receiving have been very worrisome. I don’t know why anybody should take my post.” She added

Tiwa Savage petitions police, accuses Davido of physical threat

Famous Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage, has filed a petition against Davido over the alleged threat of assault and grievous bodily harm.

In the petition addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, and dated January 9 2024, Tiwa stated that Davido threatened to “f-ck me up.”

She noted that Davido made a direct threat to her rights to life, privacy and dignity.

“I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, Tiwatope Omolara Savage and David Adeleke.

“On the 23rd of December, I made a post which included myself and Sophia Momodu on my Instagram Story.

“And MR DAVID ADELEKE messaged my manager who’s also part of his management team that I should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very disrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person.

The events of that day have led to a barrage of calls from our mutual connections, asking me what I did to him that he’s upset that I chose to maintain a relationship with his daughter Imade’s mother, Sophia Momodu who he’s having issues with

“I, therefore, would like to make this complaint, and to state that in the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me and member of my family, I will like the Nigerian Police Force to hold MR DAVID ADELEKE responsible.”

‘I’ll teach you a lesson’ – Tiwa Savage’s ex-hubby, Tee Billz threatens Davido

Music executive and estranged husband of singer, Tiwa Savage, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Tee Billz, has threatened to teach Davido “a lesson” for allegedly disrespecting his family.

He lamented that despite the “love” himself, Tiwa Savage and their son, Jamil showed towards Davido’s first daughter, Imade, he disrespected his family.

Tee Billz, who didn’t disclose how the singer disrespected his family, vowed that his family would be the last he would ever disrespect.

He added that he is waiting for the Grammys to be over, so he can spill the tea about the singer.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Tee Billz wrote: “Protecting one’s family is not just a duty; it’s the essence of a man’s character, a testament to his love and commitment……… After the love Jamil, the mother of my son and I have shown towards your daughter…… My Family is the last one you will ever disrespect in Nigeria.. It’s not a threat like I told Bobo! You’ve been getting away with disrespect David Adeleke… I’m not Uncle Dele or Amaju. I will teach you a lesson on their behalf also…… I gave you every chance but you thought it was another one! They warned you not to f*ck with me! His outburst is coming days after Davido and Tiwa Savage unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Why I gave Davido my song ‘Blow My Mind’ – Wurld
Nigerian singer and songwriter Sadiq Onifade, popularly known as WurlD, has explained why he gave Davido his song, ‘Blow My Mind’.

He said he wrote the song which Davido released with American R&B star Chris Brown in 2019.

Speaking in a recent interview with 3Music TV, Accra, Ghana, WurlD said he gave the duo the song because it was “a song I didn’t have a use for at the time”.

He said, “It [giving ‘Blow My Mind’ to Davido] wasn’t planned. I was in Lagos promoting my project, ‘Love Is Contagious’, and I got a call from my guy, producer Shizzi… It was even one of those things I didn’t plan for because I was gonna use the song myself. I wanted to get some features on the record, but I was promoting a new project, and I didn’t have time.

“I didn’t have a use for ‘Blow My Mind’ at that time. Davido and Chris Brown, it’s just a beautiful thing to lend my art with another artiste and at the same time and see how well the song is done.”

Governor Obeseki wishes Rema speedy recovery

Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has joined fans and colleagues of Rema to wish him a quick recovery.

Calm Down’ crooner, who was initially scheduled to tour the cities of Lagos, Abuja, and Benin, said he would not be performing anywhere this December due to health reasons.

Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Governor Obeseki said Edo people are proud of Rema and remain behind him every step of the way.

He noted that the Edo-born’s extraordinary feat of selling out London’s O2 Arena to amassing 1.6 billion streams on Spotify this year not only shows that he is exceptionally talented but also serves as an eye-opener for young creatives.

Burna Boy got $5m advance payment from record label – Rapper Phenom

Nigerian hip-hop artiste Phenom has revealed that Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy received a $5 million advance payment before signing a recording deal with American record label Atlantic Records in 2017.

He claimed that Nigerian-American music executive Matthew ‘Baus’ Adesuyan, the owner of Bad Habit, an imprint of Atlantic Records, to which Burna Boy is signed, facilitated the payment.

The ‘Murder Dem’ crooner disclosed this in the latest episode of The Yarns podcast.

He also stated that he would return to rapping if presented with a $1 million advance payment offer from any record label.

He said, “If you really want someone like me to rap, give me $1 million. Lock me up in the studio. Those rapping in America, they [music executives] give them big contracts. Even before Burna Boy made a comeback to music, the guy that gave him the connection to Atlantic Records [Matthew ‘Baus’ Adesuyan], they gave him [Burna Boy] $5 million when he was coming back.”

Phenom said raving rappers like Odumodublvck would soon quit rapping for singing because hip-hop is no longer lucrative.

“If someone like Odumodublvck is given $100,000 advance by his label, he will have to drop rap, start singing and enter TikTok to make it back it for the label,” he said.

‘I am not the perfect musician’ – Shallipopi admits

Nigerian singer, Crown Uzama, aka Shallipopi, has admitted that he is not a “perfect musician”.

He said he is neither a “perfect” singer nor a songwriter but has vibes and ‘street lingual’.

The ‘Obapluto’ crooner said that was the reason he signed artists who are better than him to his newly-launched record label, Plutomania Records.

Speaking in the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, Shallipopi said, “I never wanted to sign anybody at first but the thing is that I know people that are better than me at singing.

“I can not sign somebody that I’m better than. I’m not that good at singing but I know how to maintain my sound. I’m not the perfect musician that you will say this guy has a game or crazy voice. I’m not that type of artist. I call myself a vibe artist. I put street lingual in my music that some fans relate with my music.”

He added: “I’m a talker, I’m not a rapper. Talking is my genre of music.”

Famous singer and entrepreneur, Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, aka Mr Eazi, has revealed his love language.

According to the Zagadat Capital boss, credit alert is his love language.

He disclosed this in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos.

Speaking on his love experience, Mr Eazi said he used to mistake being “financially present” with “physical presence” because his dad was responsible despite not being a present parent due to the nature of his job.

He said his childhood experience has made credit alert his love language.

“My love language is credit alert. But learning someone else’s love language; learning communication, how to apologise and how to take those next steps in relationship; it could be getting engaged, new house, marriage. That’s what described the last five years of my relationship.”

Mr Eazi recently revealed that he has tied the nuptial knots with his fiancée, actress Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire and philanthropist Femi Otedola.

He said contrary to popular opinion, his marriage to Temi was not a secret.

Warri Concert: Nigerians divided over refund of money paid to Davido by organisers

Following the on-going fight between the Brownhill Events Inc., organisers of ‘Warri Again’ annual concert, and pop star, Davido, Nigerians have expressed mixed reactions over the refund of the $94,600 allegedly paid to the singer to perform at the show, for which he didn’t show up.

While some Nigerian social media users, yesterday, condemned the ‘Unavailable’ crooner for his action, many others have hailed the singer.

Meanwhile, reacting to the allegation, dangling facts condemned David’s action, saying if it were in the United States, would he say he won’t refund the money in question?

MTV EMA creates Afrobeats category, nominates Burna Boy, Asake, others

Organisers of the MTV Europe Music Awards have introduced a new category called ‘Best Afrobeats’ in the 2023 event.

The category was included in the 2023 MTV EMAs nominations announced on Wednesday.

The pioneer nominees in the category are French superstar, Aya Nakamura, and Nigerian singers, Asake, Arya Starr, Burna Boy, Davido and Rema.

Meanwhile, Rema’s collaborative hit song with Selena Gomez ‘Calm Down’ was nominated in the ‘Best Song’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories.

Asake, Burna Boy, Cameroonian diva, Libianca, Tanzanian star, Diamond Platnumz, and South Africa’s Tyler ICU were nominated in the ‘Best African Act’ category.

Burna Boy was also nominated in the “Best Live Performer” alongside Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and others.

American singer, Taylor Swift bagged the nominations (7), including “Best Artist”, “Best Song” and “Best Video”, the latter for her single ‘Anti-Hero.’

Mohbad: Naira Marley gives conditions to turn himself in for investigation

Nigerian rapper, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has said he would turn himself in to be investigated over allegations linking him to the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad if the security agencies can guarantee his safety.

there have been calls for Naira Marley to be investigated over Mohbad’s death for allegedly sponsoring hoodlums to bully and threaten the late singer after he exited his record label, Marlian Music controversially in 2022.

Speaking in an interview with Reno Omokri on Wednesday night, Naira Marley said he was ready to submit himself for investigations on the condition that his safety is guaranteed.

He said he has been out of the country since August 31, 2023, and only found out about Mohbad’s death on social media.

He said, “I was out of Nigeria from the 31st of August. I’ve been with my family up till date. I haven’t been to Nigeria [since then] that’s one.

“Two, He [Mohbad] has left Marlian Music since… I don’t know the particular date but since 2022, he has left Marlian Music. We’ve not stopped him from dropping music or anything. He has been working with one PR [firm] or something like that ever since.

So, when I heard about his death, it was shocking to me. I was out of the country as well. So, I have to find out what was wrong with him just as much as everybody is trying to find out. So, I’m just finding out what was wrong with him online. I’m seeing all the lies too. But we’ve to focus on the fact that: who was he with? How did he die?

“If you’re blaming me, how did I kill him? I have nothing to do with his death or whatsoever. I was so hurt when I heard that. I’ve nothing whatsoever to do with his death.”

Naira Marley added: “I am willing to return to Nigeria to answer questions if the police can guarantee my safety.
“I don’t belong to any cult. I don’t know what a cult is. I have been running away from all these people. I’m actually anti-cult.”

The police have launched an investigation into Mohbad’s demise.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said he has also invited the Department of State Services to join the investigation.

Mohbad: I’m returning to Nigeria to honour police invitation – Naira Marley

Nigerian musician and owner of Marlian Record label, Naira Marley, has stated that he is making arrangements to return to Nigeria to honour police invitation following the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Mohbad.

Mohbad, the former Marlian Records signee, died in a controversial manner on September 12, 2023.

Following the controversial death of the singer, Naira Marley, who owned Marlian music and his associate, Sam Larry was accused of having a hand in Mohbad’s sudden death after a series of documents and videos of the duo subjecting Mohbad to a relentless bully for leaving the Record label surfaced on the internet.

The Nigeria Police Force, on September 18th, set up a special investigative team to probe the singer’s death.

Speaking in a statement on his official Instagram page on Tuesday evening, Naira Marley said, “In light of the police invitation, I am making arrangements to return to the country to assist the investigation and give my version of the events.

“In addition, I have been out of Nigeria since the August 31, 2023, and I’m yet to return.
In the last few days, there has been a lot of onslaught on my person and reputation globally over the death of my former signee. All manner of stories have been woven against me in respect of his untimely death.

“Before I progress further, let me say that, as it is traumatic for a lot of people to bear the reality of Ileri’s death, so it is to me. May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace and may God grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“Permit me to categorically state that I have no hand in the death of Ilerioluwa, either directly or indirectly.

I am fully cooperating with the police team and I certainly have no reason to be a fugitive when I have no hand in his death. In due time the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death will be unveiled and the world will know the truth.

“Mohbad left the label in September 2022, the label accepted his departure. Marlian Music did not stop or interfere with his career or releases since and he has been with one RPM [sic]..

“The rumours regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue. I am not a drug lord, neither do I belong to any cult or fraternity. I’m dedicated to proving my innocence, and I’m cooperating with the authorities to clear my name with sufficient evidence.” 🕊🕯😑💔
