The Apostolic Secondary Grammar School Ugep management is glad to let the parents, students and staff know that,there is going to be one week mid term break starting from tomorrow Tuesday 14th of November,2023 .

Students are advised to use this period of break to do their assignments and embark on research to advance their knowledge.

We wish all our dear students and staff a well deserve restful break following a busy and productive first half of term one .

All students and staff are to resume school on Tuesday, November 21st,2023 .

Take care and enjoy quality family time .

And the school management wishes to invite parents and guidance to the General Congress of the PTA that is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The Apostolic Secondary Grammar School Ugep Press Club Celebrate Their Press Week And Presented An Award Of Honor To The School Principal

The Apostolic Secondary Grammar School Ugep press club enthusiastically celebrated their press week and conducted interviews to mark the occasion. The press club leaders organised various activities to understand the importance of the press and media's freedom in the society .

As part of the celebrations,the press club members conducted interviews with the school vice principals, teachers, parents and fellow students to learn about their views on the importance of press and media freedom . The interviews helped the press club members to gain a better understanding of the role of media in promoting democracy, good governance and social justice. And the press club members also received lectures on the following topics: freedom of the press, plagiarism, journalists ethics and standards, reasons why the pen is mightier than the sword, importance of press club in schools etc .

Expressing his views on the occasion,Hon. Kutanson Ikona,a Government and Economics tutor,said," In Nigeria,the freedom of expression is protected by section 39 (1) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria constitution .

In addition,the school vice principal Adminstration, Sir Mighty said," I am delighted to see our students taking such an active interest in celebrating press week .It is crucial that the younger generation understands the importance of media freedom in the society,and I am proud of our students for taking the initiative to spread this message".

And on the final day of the press week,the press club give awards to active press club executives and to the school principal , Elder Omini, Ubi Ebri

PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS NEW EFCC CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY OF THE COMMISSION

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr Ola Olukayode as Chairman of EFCC

Mr. Ola Olukoyede is a lawyer with over twenty-two (22) years of experience as a regulatory compliance consultant and specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence.

He has extensive experience in the operations of the EFCC, having previously served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman (2016-2018) and Secretary to the Commission (2018-2023). As such, he fulfills the statutory requirement for appointment as Chairman of the EFCC.

Mr. Olukoyede’s appointment follows the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.

Furthermore, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda to serve as the Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a renewable term of five years in the first instance, pending Senate confirmation.

Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda is a public administrator with extensive experience in public finance management who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Masters in Business Administration from the same university.

He began his career as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. From there, he went into banking, including successful stints at the defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.

The role of teachers in every one's life is great as they are the only usual source of knowledge for their their pupils and students .

Teachers plants the seed of knowledge that grow for ever. Teachers are core nation builders . Teachers make all other profession possible. Without Teachers there wouldn't have been any Doctors , Barristers Bankers etcetera

The leadership of the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Ugep central field,has concluded arrangements to hold a three day youth convention to educate and stimulate the spiritual consciousness of the youths.

The youth convention which has as it's theme,"Divine Advancement For Perfection", will begin tomorrow Thursday 5th of October,2023 to Saturday 7th of October,2023 .

The convention shall feature prayer sessions, seminars, workshops and teachings .

All the youths,the youthful at heart and all lovers of God are invited to the youth convention.

Students And Pupils In Ugep Mark Nigeria's 63rd Independence Day With March Past

Over 19 public and private primary and secondary schools in Ugep participated in today's march past at Ugep peace stadium in order to celebrate Nigeria's 63rd Independence day celebration .

At the end of the event ,The Apostolic Secondary Grammar School Ugep took the first position, Community Secondary School Ugep came second while Girls Secondary School Ugep took the third position.

APOSGRAM Press Club Gets New Leaders

The press club of the Apostolic Secondary Grammar School Ugep has elected officers who will steer its affairs for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The new leaders led by Ebri Simon -Peter Ibiang as the President were unveiled last week Friday during the press club meeting at JSS 2 A block .

Other members of the new executives include :

1.Iwara Gift Effiom - Vice President
2.Victoria Akpama - Editor and head of Editorial Board
3.James Wofai Sunday - Assistant Editor
4.Odumusor Promise Ukam- Secretary General
5.Eyong Precious Iwara - Assistant Secretary General
6.Omini Deborah Martin- Financial Secretary

The school press club staff Advisers Mr. Odey Ojeka and Mr. Abam Abam charged the new executive members to uphold the virtues of the profession .

On his own part,Mr. Odey Ojeka advised the new executive members that press club objectives would be achieved through dedication,hard work and unity of purpose .He lectured the pressmen on how to be an investigative journalist. He said"as an investigative journalist,you can reveal your identity to the person you want to get information from,but you must not reveal your identity to the person you are investigating. And he also promised to speak with the school management to support the school press club financially to enable them celebrate their school press day.

"Having critically observed the different challenge faced by the APOSGRAM press club in time past especially towards finance, equipment,apathy and unity.I will speak with the school management to support us financially",he said.

Simon,in his acceptance speech,said that his team would work to achieve the set goals, while the unity within the members would be maintained to ensure success.

Tobi Amusan become the Second woman after Dawn Nelson-Harper to win three straight Diamond League trophies; she compete against new World Champion Danielle Williams, Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and former World Record holder Kendra Harrison.

This year, the Diamond League prize money for an individual winner is $30,000, followed by for the runner-up, with additional places receiving $7,000, $4,000, $2,500, $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000.

The President of the Senate, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio has congratulated the Senator, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams on his victory at the National and State Assemblies Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar yesterday as well deserved.

Akpabio described the judgment as a testament to Senator Williams's strength and resilience. He praised his courage as a true fighter and he is confident he will remain victorious in the years ahead.

The tribunal, at its sitting in Calabar, Cross River State capital, on Friday affirmed Senator Eteng Williams’s victory at the 25 February National Assembly election as the duly elected Senator for Cross River Central Senatorial District.

LABOUR PARTY REJECTS THE PEPC JUDGEMENT

The Labour Party watched with dismay and trepidation the dismissal of petitions by the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani today and we reject the outcome of the judgment in its entirety because justice was not served and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.
Nigerians were witnesses to the electoral robbery that took place on February 25, 2023, which was globally condemned but the Tribunal in its wisdom refused to accept the obvious.

What is at stake is democracy and we will not relent until the people will prevail.
We salute the doggedness of our team of lawyers who fearlessly exposed the wrath in our system. We can only weep for democracy in Nigeria but we refuse to give up on Nigeria. Details of the party's position will be presented after consultation with our lawyers after the Certified True Copy of the judgement is made available to us.
We urge all lovers of democracy to remain focused and hopeful because a new Nigeria is possible.

On the Obi/LP petition, the tribunal said the petitioners only made "generic accusations of irregularities" in the election but failed to specify the anomaly, the places where it occurred and those affected.

"They failed to state the number of votes affected and the number of people disenfranchised," says Justice Abba Mohammed on the LP/Obi petition.

The court said although Peter Obi and LP claimed to have scored the majority of lawful votes cast, they failed to state the number of lawful votes they scored.

"The determination of election is about figures," the court held.
