DEACON KAGBARA SUNNY BROWN TO BE LAID TO REST THIS WEEKEND

Deacon Kagbara Sunny Brown, fondly called Daddyyy, will be remembered as a beacon of integrity; as he is laid to rest this weekend. A proud Old Bori boy, Deacon Brown, chose to remain in the town even while serving as a dedicated civil servant, until his retirement, at the State Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

Residents of Kenule Street in the late 90s will fondly recall the sight of Deacon Sunny Brown leaving early for the Bori Main Park to board a bus to Port Harcourt and returning home in the evening every work day. Known for his petite stature, springy walk, and impeccable corporate attire, he was a daily reminder of commitment and discipline.

A devout Christian, Deacon Brown's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him through his daily life and civil service career with a steadfast commitment to integrity. His passing has left a void in the heart of many, particularly members of his immediate family.

Some believe he left too soon, while others describe it as God's time. However, all agree that it is, indeed, Heaven's gain.

A saint has gone to be with his Lord, leaving behind a legacy of faith and integrity.

UNIPORT DENIES REPORTS OF N649,400 CLEARANCE FEE FOR FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS, CALLS CLAIMS FALSE AND MISLEADING

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has strongly refuted allegations that it imposes a N649,400 clearance fee on final-year students, describing the claims as entirely false and misleading.

In a statement released by Dr. Sam Kpenu, Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations, UNIPORT clarified that the report, which originated from an online media platform, is inaccurate. Dr. Kpenu emphasized that UNIPORT maintains one of the lowest fee structures among federal universities in Nigeria and provides scholarships for students facing financial difficulties.

He further stated that the university offers extended deadlines for fee payments to support students' financial planning and categorically denied the existence of 'medical clearance' or 'admissibility fees' as alleged.

"The attention of the authorities of the University of Port Harcourt has been drawn to an online report alleging that final-year students are required to pay N649,400 as clearance fees. We wish to categorically state that this information is entirely false," the statement read.

UNIPORT urged students and the public to rely solely on official communications from the university for accurate information regarding fees and financial matters, warning against misinformation spread by unverified sources. The institution also called on the media to prioritize accuracy and verification in their reporting.

This rebuttal follows a report by Sahara Reporters, which claimed that final-year students at UNIPORT were required to pay an exorbitant clearance fee, a report that has now been debunked by the university.

TRADITIONAL RULER REACTS TO PASTOR ABEL DAMINA'S TITHE THEOLOGY

In response to ongoing debates surrounding the theology of tithing, His Royal Majesty Baridam Suanu Yormaadam, Gbenemene and Kasemene of Ancient Bangha Kingdom, has shared his personal perspective on the matter.

Reacting via a Facebookpost, the reverend traditional ruler expressed his unwavering commitment to the practice of tithing, emphasizing that his belief in it is rooted in personal conviction rather than external influence

"What I’ve noticed about tithing is that those who often make a big deal out of it are often the ones who have never actually paid tithes themselves," he remarked "I personally pay my tithes and give generously because I believe in it. Nothing on earth could make me stop—not because a pastor says so, but because it’s my conviction, and it truly works for me."

His Royal Majesty’s comments come amidst discussions sparked by Pastor Abel Damina’s teachings on tithing climaxing with his appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, which have stirred conversations within and beyond the Nigerian christian community.

FUBARA REAFFIRMS LOYALTY TO PDP, DISMISSES MEMBERSHIP RUMOURS

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has debunked rumours surrounding his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming that he and his supporters remain dedicated members of the party. Addressing members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) during their visit to Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, Governor Fubara stated that the visit had dispelled the falsehoods spread in certain quarters.

Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to the BoT delegation, led by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wagbara, for their efforts to clarify the situation in Rivers State. He emphasized the importance of setting the record straight and assured the BoT that his stance had remained consistent.

"We that are here are the undiluted members of the PDP," Governor Fubara declared, reaffirming his loyalty to the party. He praised the sacrifices of PDP's founding fathers, such as Chief Bode George and Senator Ahmed Makarfi, for their unwavering commitment to the party's survival.

Senator Adolphus Wagbara, on behalf of the PDP BoT, thanked Governor Fubara for the warm reception and acknowledged the need to maintain peace and unity within the party. Wagbara emphasized that the BoT, as the elders and conscience of the party, were deeply concerned about the media speculations regarding the PDP's position in Rivers State. He assured that the party would address the issues constitutionally to strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 elections.

"We were scared when we read or heard speculations, but we as the conscience of the party must go by the rule of law," Wagbara stated, expressing confidence that the party would emerge stronger from this challenge.

TRIPLE JOY: MAN MARRIES IDENTICAL SISTERS WHO CHOOSE TO SHARE EVERYTHING

A man simply identified as Steve recently made headlines after marrying identical triplets—Aria, Ava, and Avery—in a unique ceremony that reflects an extraordinary bond between the sisters. The triplets, who have always shared a close connection, revealed that their upbringing played a significant role in this decision. Their parents had instilled in them the importance of loving one another and sharing all good things together from a young age.

Steve initially approached and fell in love with one of the sisters, but soon realized the depth of their bond.
