The Coordinator, NYSC Rivers state, Mr. George Mfongang has called on corps members to use sports as a veritable instrument to recreate a new Nigeria.

He said this today during the finals of the inter platoon football, volleyball and athletics competition for 2021 Batch C Stream 2 corps members deployed to Rivers state.

Mr. Mfongang noted that football rallies all Nigerians together irrespective of ethnicity, tribe and religion and therefore become a ready tool in the hands of the Scheme to dig deeper the unity and integration of the country.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Save A Life Foundation, Dr. Richard Okoye, whose Foundation sponsored the sports finals commended the various platoons for their dogged performances in the sports competitions.

The youth friendly medical icon used the occasion assure the Scheme of regular support of his Foundation in its programmes and activities.

In the football finals, 7 platoon emerged champions and carted home a giant gold trophy while 2 platoon won volleyball and were rewarded too with a giant gold trophy.

Athletics finals for male and female 100m and 4×100m equally held with medals given to each category of winners with princely cash prizes courtesy of Dr. Okoye's Save A Life Foundation.

A HUGE REWARD AWAITS YOU FOR THE SKILL YOU TENACIOUSLY ACQUIRED TODAY - GEORGE MFONGANG

Rivers state NYSC Team Lead, Mr. George Mfongang has informed corps members that the skill they tenaciously acquired today will be a huge source of reward for them tomorrow.

He made this known today during the SAED exhibition and closing ceremony for 2021 Batch C Stream 2 corps members deployed to Rivers state.

gorgeous George as the amiable State Coordinator is fondly called used the occasion to further inform the corps members that NYSC top management are into strategic partnership with funding institutions to provide them with start up capitals for their business whenever they submit a viable business proposal.

The Team Lead concluded by charging the corps members to maintain the same focus, determination and tenacity of purpose which they exhibited during on camp training during the post camp training so as to perfect on their chosen skill.

In a welcome remark, Mr. Eze D.O, the SAED officer of the state commended the corps members for their active participation in the 10-day programme and urged them to sustain the tempo in the next level of the training.

He also appreciated the State Coordinator, camp officials, master trainers and others who supported the SAED committee tremendously in the discharge of their assignment.

The closing ceremony featured exhibition and inter platoon competition.

Platoon 9 came 1st,
1 platoon 2nd and 2 platoon 3rd at end of all the competitions.

2021 BATCH C STREAM 2 INTER PLATOON DRILL COMPETITION:

YOUR BEAUTIFUL PARADE RAISES HOPE FOR NIGERIA - GEORGE MFONGANG

Beautiful parade displayed by corps members in today's drill competition has been described as a sign of hope for Nigeria.

Mr. George Mfongang, Rivers state NYSC Coordinator gave the above assertion after watching the inter platoon drill competition for 2021 Batch C Stream 2 corps members deployed to Rivers state.

He described the energy, focus, commitment and dedication exhibited by the corps members during the march past as a sign of great things to come for Nigeria.

The State Coordinator used the occasion to encourage the corps members to translate the virtues put into the competition into their daily life as a routine and watch the ugly narrative in the country positively rewritten.

In a remark, the Chief Empire, Major AM Sani commended the corps members for showcasing an excellent march past.

At the end of the competition, 6 platoon came 1st, 8 platoon 2nd, 7 platoon 3rd and 5 platoon last. 5 platoon was awarded the 'Otondo Spoon'.

To spice the event, men of the Nigerian Army performed silent drill to the admiration of the corps members.

Gorgeous GEORGE MFONGANG HAILS AIRTEL AS THEY DONATE CHAIRS, TABLES TO THE SCHEME

Airtel Nigeria has been hailed for its diligent support to youths advancement and empowerment using the NYSC Scheme's platform.

Rivers state NYSC Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang gave the hailing today when he received plastic chairs and tables from Airtel Nigeria, represented by its Port Harcourt Sales Representative, Mr. Emmanuel Okoronkwo.

The capacity Rivers state NYSC Team Lead, Mr. Mfongang commended Airtel for their efficient corporate social responsibility initiative targeted at the educated, vibrant and virile youths in the NYSC Scheme, describing the synergy and relationship as "worthy and mutually rewarding".

In a remark, Mr. Emmanuel Okoronkwo, the Airtel Port Harcourt Sales Rep. described his brand as "youth friendly", noting that Airtel Nigeria pays a lot of premium on youths because of their huge reservoir of talents and leadership potentials as the successor generation.

Mr. Okoronkwo further informed the Coordinator that the donation of chairs and tables are token, assuring him that Airtel Nigeria will have a lot to make the Scheme to be grateful come 2022 as the telecommunication giants have made adequate budgetary provisions to support the Scheme in all its programme implementation efforts.

YOU ARE TO HEAL THE WOUNDS OF THE PAST BY YOUR SELFLESS SERVICE TO THE NATION - BARR. ONUKWUE

Corps members have been charged to use efficient service delivery offered selflessly to the nation to heal the wounds of the past.

This charge was given today by a retired Deputy Director of NYSC Scheme, Barr. Godwill Onyeabu Onukwue when he delivered a 'Motivational Lecture' to the 2021 Batch C Stream 2 corps members in Rivers state camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai.

Barr. Onukwue used the occasion to inform the corps members that the Scheme was established to unite and integrate the country in the aftermath of the unfortunate Nigeria/Biafra civil war of 1967-70.

Speaking further, he noted that NYSC has been in the business of uniting and integrating the country through selfless services rendered by corps members across the nation which has helped in the healing of the wounds of the past since 22nd May, 1973.

The learned gentleman enjoined the corps members to actively participate in all the cardinal programmes of the Scheme as failure in one means failure in all.

The 3 times Coordinator concluded by reiterating the need for the corps members to leave positive legacies in thei communities where they are to serve by deploying their talents to the benefit of the people.

He called on them to obey all NYSC rules and regulations while doing everything in their power to stay alive and return the huge investment made on them by their parents and guardians.

The lecture was graced by eminent camp officials.
