In 2022, I came to the realization that I couldn’t work with every entrepreneur. I understood my limits as a creative and I also understood most entrepreneurs especially in Nigeria can’t afford to hire the services of a social media manager, especially at the early phase of their journeys.

So, when I got the idea to begin sharing educative content for small businesses, I jumped on it. Who knew the series that started as a random idea will bring my first physical award just one year later? 🥹

Woman of the moment and Guinness World Records holder, HILDA BACI has done 94 hours cooking time and counting! 😍😍

I first discovered her page while managing a client’s page.

As it is with Instagram , the more you watch a particular kind of content the more Instagram brings more content from that page for you to see.

Everytime I was working on my client’s page, I’d make it a point of duty to check on what she posted and how that content is doing, since my client’s page is also a food brand. From there I learnt of the Hilda Baci Cook-a-thon and saw sneak peeks of the planning process.

There’s so much to learn from her, her growth, dedication and determination.

She wasn’t an overnight success. You must have heard of how she has planned this for 5 years, her baby steps here and there all summed up to today’s success.

I could go on and on, talking about this awesome woman but here are things I’ve learnt from HILDA BACI:

1. The MIND is powerful - Hilda believed in her heart that she could do it and went for it! 💪🏽

2. PLAN and WORK towards it - Plans for the cook-a-thon began 5 years ago. I watched a part of her live video where she mentioned how she hired a trainer and lost some weight.

3. BET on yourself! She already betted on herself even before she began to use the hashtag ”BET ON HILDA.”

4. Count the COST and put measures in place to FIX them - If you’ve been watching the cook-a-thon from DAY 1, you’ll see how plans were made for each stage. Crowd control, times she’d be tired, music, security, photography, time-keepers, choice of MCs, hype-men & djs, the venue, medical team etc.

5. Get a TEAM of people who understand the vision and are willing to run with it - Her team understands the assignment and they are applying pressure to make sure she achieves her goal!! 💪🏽💪🏽

6. Social media is powerful, utilize it - The heavy use of social media contributed to more and more people discovering the cook-a-thon, I say this often but I’ll say it again - SOCIAL MEDIA IS POWERFUL! 🔥🔥

Your girl made you proud!!

After 2 months of hardwork, grit and resilience, I’m proud to announce to you that I’m officially a graduate of the ALX Virtual Assistant programme! 🥹💃🏽

In the month of May 2022, I came across the ALX program in one of the communities I belong to.

I signed up and got ready to join the program in July but the unexpected happened! My laptop broke down so I had to defer and join the September Cohort instead.

I got a new laptop and waited patiently to join the new cohort. Another glitch happened - I didn’t have a squad till almost 1 week after I was logged in but God was setting me up for the best! 💃🏽

Even though I joined my squad late, I met the exact kind of people I was praying to meet and we created a WhatsApp Group where we encouraged each other to submit our milestones on time and graduate the program with Honours! Talk about Romans 8:28 🥰

I’ve been actively working in the social media space for some years now, I planned to learn things in 2022 and ALX provided me this opportunity for FREE!

The program was detailed to the core, eye opening and very easy to navigate. A full team held our hands and made sure we learnt everything we needed to become world class VAs!

I’m really grateful to everyone who made this a reality!!

Are you aware some businesses act too professional & “branded” and lose some clients in the process?

I’ve seen, heard and done business with brands who made me feel like I was chatting with a robot. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Sometimes too much professionalism is a problem!
Sometimes it stops people from returning to your business!

As a brand apply these tips when communicating with your clients / customers:

🎯 Know when to sympathize - Say sorry where necessary!

🎯 Know when to empathize - Laugh when you should! Smile when you should!

🎯 Know when to switch to a language your customer can understand - Sometimes they don’t understand those big, big grammar you use.

Stop acting like a robot! I’m not saying you shouldn’t be professional but don’t be too engrossed with it that you forget to be human.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who does this but before I patronize any brand, I search through their social media pages first. 😁

The way they present themselves is what helps me decide if they can serve me properly or not.

That’s the reality of the 21st century. People still rate your brand’s ability to serve them by how you show up and the perception you create for your brand online.

Strategic commenting is one of the ways to get noticed on social media especially when it’s done on blogs, popular, niche pages or online communities. However, there is a right & a wrong way to do it.

The wrong way is quarreling, insulting people in the comment section with your business account or advertising your business when the post doesn’t call for it.🤦🏽‍♀️

Being your own boss means the responsibility of growing your business rests on your shoulders. It’s success, failure or growth is a direct proportion of the things you do for it each month.

Here are 5 things you can do at the end of every month to ensure growth / sales in your business:

1. Balance your accounts - Check your expenses, sales, cost of goods, etc. This will help you know how much you made, misplaced or lost that month.

2. Restock goods - The availability of products are the raw materials you need to meet your sales targets. You need to give something out (products) in order to receive something (money). Check your inventory and restock items that are sold out.

3. Pay those who render services to your business or pay yourself if you’ve started receiving salary from your business.

4. Run ads - A lot of people shop a lot at the end or beginning of the month when they’ve received salaries. Make sure your ads are running.

5. Get prepared for the new month by setting new goals & strategies.

Sometimes you may not be satisfied with the insights on your Reels. Does this mean you should delete it or stop creating Reels? Nope! 😄

A lot of things play a huge role on the kind of results you get from your Reels. These include:
1. Choice of hashtags
2. Your Reels focus or niche
3. Keywords in your caption
4. Choice of music/sound
5. Use of clear quality videos/pictures
6. Choice of cover photo
7. Following trends
8. Use of transitions & attention grabbing hooks & lots more.

When creating Reels, “virality” shouldn’t be the first thing in your mind.
