The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of an Inspector, who was shot by unknown gunmen on Wednesday in Coker Aguda area of Lagos state.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesman for the command, narrated that the Inspector was inside a tricycle (keke) when he was shot.

The spokesman also added that the command had commenced investigation to track and arrest the killers.

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has warned Nigerians against moving to Northern Cyprus, due to the abuse and killing of Nigerians in the country.

She also added that the federal government of the de facto state do not have mechanisms that would enable justice be served.

Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa, in a briefing on Thursday, warned, “Think twice before going to Northern Cyprus. We can’t do much for Nigerians there. Our students are being killed daily.”

Bandits have blocked Katsina-Jibia highway, killed one and abducted several others in an early evening attack on commuters on Wednesday.

Mr Mustapha, whose relatives were victims, said the bandits contacted his family around 10:00 p.m. and demanded a ransom.

Mr. Gabriel, the soldier who allegedly killed an Islamic cleric (Goni Aisami) has confessed to the police how he carried out the crime.

"I fired a warning shot, thinking he would be scared and run away. But he didn’t run away," he said. Mr. Gabriel has also been accused of stealing N480, 000 from his boss.

Investigations are ongoing. The police said following the investigation, the suspect and his accomplice, Adamu Gideon, will be in court.
