S/East Has No Natural Resources, Political, And Economic Value - Asari Dokubo Blasts Those Hailing Unknown Gunmen |

"Southeast Nigeria has almost no substantial natural resources.

The South East is almost a barren soil.

The South East has no outstanding Federal importance.

The only thing the Igbos in the East have to their advantage is the ability to turn money into more money ; but they can only achieve that if the East is peaceful for business.

Today the Southeast has begun a movement that could turn the East into a desolate desert.

To those hailing Unknown Gunmen, you should also know that a bullet knows nobody...

All we have to do, is sit down and watch the show."

Sen. Abaribe Reacts To Femi Fani-Kayode's Defection To APC |

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has reacted to the defection of Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Abaribe said Fani-Kayode’s defection confirmed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s remark about his character.

IGBERE TV recalls that Fani-Kayode had officially joined APC on Thursday during a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House – an action which drew condemnation from several quarters.

The lawyer-turned-politician was presented to Buhari by the acting National Chairman of the APC, Mai Mala-Buni.

Reacting to the defection, Abaribe described Fani-Kayode as a confused human being.

Appearing on Arise TV, the Senate Minority Leader said: “I do not want to dwell on his issue. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had said it all before ‘Femi Fani-Kayode is my boy. Provide him food, he will eat and then sing for you. He’s a smart boy.”

The Senate Minority Leader recalled that Obasanjo once said Fani-Kayode would always go to where there is “food.”

Abaribe also stressed that the PDP would return to power in 2023.

He stressed that the APC has done nothing good for Nigeria since assuming power in 2015.

“No one can really pinpoint any good thing done by APC since 2015. The PDP will win the presidential election in 2023,” he added.

BREAKING!!! Southern Governors Declare Support For States To Collect VAT

By Wisdom Nwedene

Southern Nigeria Governors have declared their support for States to collect Valued Added Tax (Tax) instead of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.

In a communique issued after their meeting in Enugu State on Thursday, the Southern Governors reaffirmed its earlier commitment to fiscal federalism as resolved at the inaugural meeting of the Forum held on Tuesday, 11th May 2021 at Asaba, Delta State and emphasized the need for the Southern States to leverage the legislative competence of their respective State Houses of Assembly as well as representation in the National assembly to pursue its inclusion in the Nigerian Constitution through the ongoing constitutional amendment.

The Southern Governors further said the meeting resolved to support the position that the collection of VAT falls within the powers of the States.

IGBERE TV recalls that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has been battling the issue of who ought to collect VAT with the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.

While Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State declared support for Federal Government to collect VAT, the meeting held on Thursday saw the Southern Governors declaring support for Wike and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Other issues discussed during the meeting include,

1. Expressed satisfaction with the rate at which the States in the Southern Nigeria are enacting or amending the Anti- Open Grazing Laws which align with the uniform template and aspiration of Southern Governors and encouraged the States that are yet to enact this law to do so expeditiously.

2. Encouraged the full operationalization of already agreed regional security outfits; which would meet, share intelligence and collaborate, to ensure the security and safety of the region.

3. Reaffirmed its earlier commitment to fiscal federalism as resolved at the inaugural meeting of the Forum held on Tuesday, 11th May 2021 at Asaba, Delta State and emphasized the need for the Southern States to leverage the legislative competence of their respective State Houses of Assembly as well as representation in the National assembly to pursue its inclusion in the Nigerian Constitution through the ongoing constitutional amendment.

4. Following from paragraph “3” above, the meeting resolved to support the position that the collection of VAT falls within the powers of the States.

5. Expressed satisfaction with the handling of issues around the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and ownership of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) by the larger Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

6. Reiterated their earlier position that the next President of Nigeria must come from the Southern part of Nigeria in line with politics of equity, justice and fairness.

7. The Forum thanked the host Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and chose Rivers State as the next host for the Southern Governors’ Forum meeting in November 2021.

FIRS, NOT STATES SHOULD COLLECT VAT —UMAHI

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi says the state is not in support of Rivers, Lagos and other states in their moves to collect Value Added Tax.

Umahi stated this at a dinner organised in honour of a former Chief of Army Staff and Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Amb. Tukur Buratai, on Monday night.

Umahi said Ebonyi was solidly and would continually throw its weight behind the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s collection of VAT.

Speaking at the dinner held at the Governor’s Lodge, Centenary City, Abakaliki, Umahi reiterated that state would not support any of the states collecting VAT, adding “Evil will continue to thrive if good people keep quiet.”

He said, “We must make Ebonyi State very exceptional by rising to the challenges. When we shout true federalism, I say, I agree; but it should be administrative restructuring.

“Ebonyi State is not in support of any state collecting VAT. We are in support that FIRS should continue to collect tax and share.”

While urging the country’s leaders to speak up against dissenting voices that were capable of polarising the nation, Umahi stressed he was open to debate with any governor from the stable of the Peoples Democratic Party, who felt he had delivered more democracy dividends to his people than the APC-led administration in Ebonyi State.

“People are taking special interest in Ebonyi State and her Governor, positively and negatively; but it is very important to be in the news than for you to say there are 36 states, you will name 35 and say what is the other state?

“We have aborted it; we are now a state to reckon with and we have no apologies.

“When I say I have no apologies, you can talk everything about me but you can not say we have not delivered and so when people open their mouths in PDP to talk about APC, they should know that I belong to APC and if they like, let PDP offer any of their best Governors to come for debate with me and I will defeat any of them; it’s not just to be talking and talking. You don’t sit on people’s sweat and resources and be talking nonsense.

“We have no regrets taking our people to the centre. We have always played at the centre. We are not playing party politics, we are playing politics that will be an advantage to our people, criticise me; no problems. But we need resources, we need friendship with the centre,” Umahi stated.

Hushpuppi: President Buhari Will Decide Abba Kyari’s Fate – Minister |

The Minister of Police Affair, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari will take the final decision on suspended former Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, IgbereTV has learned.

Dingyadi, who disclosed this while featuring as a guest on Channels Television programme ‘Politics Today’ monitored by Daily Independent said the federal government is trying to ensure that due diligence is done on the matter because it has international connotations.

According to the Minister “The issue of Abba Kyari has become a public domain and I think by now everybody has heard that the police in their very wisdom, in their usual way of becoming transparent and fair to all have set up a committee to investigate all these allegations”.

“We have also reported that the committee has submitted the report to the IGP. We have also submitted this report and recommendations to the Attorney-General of the Federation for legal opinion, thereafter, we will take it to Mr.President for final consideration”.

“So, you can see that even though this matter is a local matter here, it has some international connotations. We have to do some due diligence to ensure that we do the right thing. We have to do some consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice before a final decision will be taken”.

“But what is important is that Nigerians should know that the police management is up and doing and they have done what they are supposed to do. I hope people will wait and see what actions will be taken on this matter”.
It will be recalled that Kyari had been indicted by the FBI in a $1.1 million Internet scam allegedly carried out by an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, commonly known as Hushpuppi and four others.

The commission had earlier suspended Kyari with effect from July 31 pending the outcome of the police investigation.
