ỌMỌ IBADAN TI O JALE, OJU LORỌ

People often say 'Ọmọ Ibadan ti o jale, Oju lo rọ' to put down our personality whenever they can. However, we are unshakeable😁

I'll tell you the story behind 'Ọmọ Ibadan ti o jale, Oju lo rọ' as I was told a not-too-long time ago.

Once upon a time, In the time of our forefathers, two men were travelling a far distance. One of them was from Ibadan. They got very hungry as they journeyed.

As they nearly reached a village, they saw something to eat (I have forgotten what exactly the food was but for the sake of my narration let’s use bananas) by the roadside. The other man suggested they take them since they were so hungry, but the Ibadan man refused. He said it would be stealing, and he wouldn't do it.

The Ibadan man suggested they wait for the owner or keep walking to the village to ask for food. The other man didn't listen and started eating the bananas anyway.

Then, the owner and others met them there. It became a big issue. They condemned the man for stealing and praised the Ibadan man’s honesty.

Turning to the thief one of them retorted, “Why can’t you be like this Ibadan man? Instead of stealing he persevered.” “Ọmọ Ibadan ti o jale, Oju lo rọ?” (Ibadan man persevered rather than stealing)

And so, “Ọmọ Ibadan ti o jale, Oju lo rọ” was born as a tribute to the Ibadan man's integrity.

But when people use it now, they're implying that most Ibadan people steal, which isn't true. Every tribe has its flaws, but stealing isn't one of ours in Ibadan.

If you say 'Ija igboro larun Ibadan now', I'll proudly accept it because our ancestors were brave warriors. Now that there's no war, how else should their descendants exhibit their traits?

I hope you understand better now. Share and let more people be aware. Ki eku ile gbo ko sọ fun toko pe awa ọmọ Ibadan o kin fe’wọ oo. Akinkanju ni wa, we would rather persevere than steal.

IBA OLUYOLE: THE LEGEND OF IBADAN

He came from a lineage of warriors and royalty, his father, Olukuoye Ajala was the son of Yamba Bi Ekun, a Bashorun in the Oyo empire during the reign of Alaafin Ojigi. His mother, Agbonrin was the daughter of Alaafin Abiodun I. Oluyole was a farmer, a blacksmith and later, an armorer. In those days, glory and fame were earned at the battlefield, being the grandson of a warrior, Oluyole set out to become a warrior too, he relocated to Ibadan and within a short period he became the Aareago under Oluyedun (son of Afonja) who was the Baálé of Ibadan after Máyẹ̀ Okunade.

In 1835, Shortly after the death of Lakanle, Oluyole became the Baálé of Ibadan, his new position was challenged when the Fulanis raised one of the largest invasion forces in their history and attacked in a war known as the Eleduwe war. It took a large combined Yoruba army made up of leaders like Kurunmi of Ijaye, Oluyole, and Timi Bamgbaiye of Ede to stop them. Although, the Fulanis were successfully repelled, it was at a great cost to the Òyó empire.

Oyo-Ile, the once mighty seat of one of the largest empires in Africa was destroyed and Alaafin Oluewu, his crown Prince, Adeyanju and his great ally, Eleduwe, the king of the Ibaribas, all perished in the war. Oluyole himself and Prince Atiba nearly lost their lives in the battle.

The survivors moved further south, to Ago d'Oyo or Àgọ Ọja and Atiba was installed as the Alaafin, upon his enthronement, he made Kunrunmi the Aare Ọ̀nà Kakanfo and Oluyole the Bashorun, thereby becoming the first Bashorun of Ibadan. Oluyole took on the challenge of defending the ravaging Ibadan, his reign was bloody, he crushed rebellions both within and outside, his battalion acquired many land that is now part of Ibadan.

He established Ibadan as the military powerhouse on which later leaders build upon. His army emerged victorious in the following wars: Ogun Iberekodo, Ogun Oniyefun, Ogun Oke Bode, Ogun Ẹgbẹ.

Oluyole died in 1850 and Ibadan remains a powerful Yoruba town ever since. His statue stands at Béèrè in Ibadan.follow me for more gist

Very interesting
Face me I sl@p you

Face me I face you will make you understand that aye o pe meji. Let's do a throwback.

1. It’s sometimes called Face Me I slap you due to the incessant FIGHTS daily. E ma ja ju. If you don’t FIGHT, someone will FIGHT you. You must fight. "Ta lo gbe omi ti mo pon sibi?" (Ija de).

2. You can never go hungry unless you don’t know your way around. Enter the kitchen at the backyard and start whining who’s cooking. Drop small gist about another neighbor, walahi waa jeun ju. Gbenusi no be atenu.

Output - Gbeborun
Input - Food

3. There’s always that man who will claim he has been living in the house before the house was even built. They are always proud of the years they have lived there. They know everyone and when they were given birth to. (Ancestor Tenant)

4. There will be this group of girls living together. They are always at home during the day except at night. Mothers always warn their children not to enter their room. "Ti mo ba ri e ninu yara awon Anti yen, maa fe lu e daku" but these sisters are always kind. And guys still find their ways into the room 😳🤣🤣🏃🏃🏃.

5. There must be an old woman who settles a FIGHTS. Mama of the house. She is always sitting outside monitoring what is happening on the street. In most cases, she's the landlady. They always have nicknames like "Iya Jeje" "Iya Kofewahala" "Iya Cele"

6. There’s always a landlord wannabe whom everyone hates. He acts like the landlord and he’s always like “Don’t pour waste there” “Pay your nepa bill” and "We will lock this gate by 7pm" bla bla. You will think his name is in the Landlord's will but he's a tenant too. Gboromideleru

7. There must be a regular debtor who doesn’t pay his bills on time, he pays January bills by April. Always coming up with excuses. "My mama just die", the same thing he said last year. Ogbontarigi onigbese

8. One rich tenant must be in the house, he will keep buying things his landlord can never afford. He owes small rent but he’

NAFDAC SEALS PINNACLE SUPERMARKET

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has sealed a popular groceries and cosmetics supermarket, Pinnacle in Dugbe area of Ibadan over sale of fake products.
The supermarket, usually a beehive of activities was now a shadow of itself as the gate leading to the premises was shut with an inscription directing customers to its branch at Challenge.

Management of the supermarket cited technical issues as reason for its closure.

An inside source who pleaded for anonymity however revealed that problem started on Tuesday, 2nd April , 2024 when NAFDAC surveillance team stormed the mall to enforce total shutdown of the premises, thereby forcing shoppers out of the supermarket.

“The NAFDAC team came inside the mall and told us to close, even though people were many inside who wanted to do shopping but they couldn’t because the technical issue started and they all went away in disappointment”, the source said.

A top ranking officer at Ibadan zonal office of NAFDAC disclosed that the directive for the closure came from Lagos office and was enforced.

According to the NAFDAC source, the agency had been on the trail of Pinnacle while the CEO had been invited since January, but she failed to turn up, hence the reason for the total shutdown.

“The woman displayed a total disregard to authority despite the fact that fake products were traced to the mall. She was invited to the Lagos office but didn’t oblige. Nobody is above the law,” the source said.

I am a man aged 40. I married in 2015. My wife has a boy child for another man beore our marriage.
I am tired of this marriage. This woman can't give me a male child. She's always giving me girls. I am not even proud of myself as a man. The only boy is her first child from another man.
Because of frustration sometimes I don't even sleep at home. I also feel bad to see the boy child who is not even mine. I can't keep spending on another man's baby..
Even mom said she sees something ev!l when she looks at my wife. She was against our marriage from the beginning. And now I am seeing what my mother has been saying. Every woman is supposed to produce both male and female kids . Why is my own case different..

Please I need advice. Because I can't continue like this. I need a son.
