Transformation Of Widow, Tied, Flogged Over Witchcraft Allegation
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, has shared new photos, video of the widow, Amarachi Okechi, who was beaten and accused of being a witch after the death of her husband.
Gwamnishu posted a video of the woman getting a makeover on his Instagram page on Friday, saying that he had taken her to his house in Asaba, Delta State after she left the hospital so she could be away from her abusers.
He wrote, “The widow they called a witch, tied and beaten. What more can I say than thank you God for using this platform for humanity. After Mrs. Amarachi left the hospital, she couldn't go back to her community because of her abusers and she was also traumatised.
"I instructed them to bring her to my house in Asaba, Delta State. She needed to heal from her past and I offered to be her son and took the burden. I will continue to support and use my platform to protect vulnerable widows and I urge everyone to do the same.”
Okechi was beaten by some residents of Umueghu in Amaegbuato autonomous community in the Nkpa Bende Local Government Area of Abia State for allegedly being a witch.

Headies: Davido Wins Best Humanitarian, Digital Artiste Awards
Singer, Davido, clinched two awards at the 15th Headies, which held in Atlanta, United States of America.
He won the Humanitarian of the year and the Digital Artiste of the year awards.
The Digital Artiste of the year is one of the three newly-introduced categories to the award.
Davido is known for his generosity and slogan, ‘We rise by lifting others’, which he also named his tour after. In 2021, he called on his friends to raise money, which he donated to orphanages in Nigeria.

Wizkid Wins Big At 15th Headies
Singer, Wizkid, has won the Album of the year category at this year's Headies with his Made in Lagos (deluxe edition) album.
His collaboration with Tems, 'Essence' also won awards in the Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best RnB Single categories.
Other big winners of the event include, Patoranking who got two awards for Best Recording of the year and Best Reggae and Dancehall album.

EFCC Arrests 41 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Awka
Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC have arrested forty-one (41) suspected internet fraudsters in Awka, Anambra State.
They were arrested on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 following actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in cyber crimes and other related activities.
Sixteen(16) of the suspects were arrested at Umuodu Tansi Road,Awka, Anambra State while the remaining 25 were arrested at Umudu Okpuno Village ,Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspects are: Eze Stanley Chineze, Emmanuel Chijioke Ejikeme, Chinonso Edwin Abonyi, Emmanuel Akoi Chibuike, Henry Umenyi Chukwualuka, Ayo Iteze Chidiebere, Emeka Justice, Emmanuel Ayakem, Ememuo Innocent Ifeanyi and Odinaka Udeh.
Others are: Okonkwo Stanley Chukwuma, Ezeakolam Godswill Chihurumnanya, Emmanuel Mgbakor kenechukwu, Benneth Odinaka, Ndefor Chukwudi, Ngadi Chima, Akalam Lucky Ibuchi, Akalam Michael, Justus Akalam Chunazom, Akalam Kenneth , David Monday Ebuka, Uchechukwu Kingsley Ebuka, Henry Echezona, Onyedika Chukwu, Abuchi Awa, Henry Adumaka, Chidera Chika, Malachi Asonbe, Cosmos Obidimma and Akuma Wisdom.
The rest are: Agwu Victor, Godwin Okoro, Obumneke Nwankwo, Igboanugo Charles, Ibeh Chisom, Agbafuna Ifeanyi, Chukwu Joseph, Chukwu Benard, Anson Ugochukwu, Mathew Chukwuemeka and Temple Emmanuel.
Items recovered from them are several mobiles phones, laptops, one Lexus RX350 Sports Utility Vehicle, one Lexus ES350 car, another unregistered Lexus ES350 car and one Toyota Camry car.

Has Aubameyang chosen the wrong squad number at Chelsea?
Chelsea confirmed the signing of Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a deal worth £10million - plus a free transfer for left back Marcos Alonso - late on deadline day. The move marks a return to England for Aubameyang, who only joined the Catalan side in February on a free after his exit from Arsenal, and will see him reunite with former boss Thomas Tuchel.
However, tongues are wagging already because Auba has taken the 'cursed' No 9 shirt at Chelsea.
The number nine was vacated by Romelu Lukaku after his return to Inter Milan in June - and there is a long history of Chelsea strikers struggling in that shirt.
The 72-cap international wore No 17 at Barcelona and No 14 at Arsenal, but wore the number nine for part of his time at Saint-Etienne and with Dijon in France. Lukaku, signed in August 2021 for £97.5million, only scored eight Premier League goals in a disappointing season.

One of the housemates of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Bella, on Thursday, pleaded for a dinner date with her love interest in the House, Sheggz.
She made this plea during her diary session with Big Brother. She asked that Big Brother arrange a dinner date for her and Sheggz to help them to resolve their relationship issues.

’s Tacha Laments As Dubai Sends Nigerians Home
Reality TV star, Tacha Akide, on Thursday, claimed that Dubai is denying entry to Nigerians and sending them back home, even with their valid visas.
This comes a day after a tweep, Dinchi, revealed that some Nigerians arriving Dubai had been detained with their passports seized. No official explanation was also provided for the situation.
On her Twitter handle on, the popular Big Brother Naija alumnus lamented the experience of the affected Nigerians, saying, “I can’t even believe after spending those long hours in transit. After paying and getting your visa. Buying ticket too. Making Dubai plans and you will just be sent back like that!!! Gosh! The humiliation Nigerians face outside Nigeria ehn!! It is just dispiriting.
“Dubai is really sending Nigerians back to Nigeria even with their valid visas!!! And 'ontop' of that when you reach Nigeria!! You’ll be paying an additional fee of N31,000 for whatever reason I don’t even know.”
Her tweets come after she posted a video stating she was in Dubai.

Former LASU Vice Chancellor, Hussein, Dies

The former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussein is dead.
According to a statement on the official LASU page on Facebook on Monday, Hussein died after a brief illness in the evening of Sunday, 31st July, 2022 aged 75.
Prof. Hussein, a professor of Physics was the sixth Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University; he served between 2005 and 2011.
Hussein will be buried on Monday according to Islamic rites.
