Unveiling Emma Bishop Okonkwo, The Billionaire Who Didn’t Allow The Loss Of His Leg To Deter Him

Some grass to grace stories are just superb and terrific materials for legends – and a very good example is that of Emmanuel Bishop Okonkwo, one of Nigeria’s richest men and billionaires.
Born ‘without any blemish’, unconfirmed sources told Igbo History And Culture TV that Emma Bishop, like he is widely known and addressed, lost one of his legs to accident. But rather than allow himself to be deterred by that, the Chairman of Ekulo Group of Companies, with hundreds of people in his employment, now jokes about that. So much so that during a visit by some of his kinsmen years ago to seek his financial assistance, he allegedly took off his artificial leg, joking that instead of two-legged men to assist a one-legged man, the reverse was the case. Thus, infecting and infesting the whole atmosphere with so much laughter.

A self-made man, Odenigbo Amichi (one of his numerous titles) could be likened to the proverbial King Midas; anything he touches automatically turns to gold.

Incorporating his company, Ekulo International Limited, with head office then on 30, Isale Agbede Street, Lagos, on July 3, 1984, the business has today metamorphosed into an oak tree. Initially into trading, they have since diversified into manufacturing and et al.
Now a group of companies, with Ekulo International Limited, Prize Destructioners Nigeria Limited, Ekulo Industries Limited, Evans Industries Limited and Ekulo Pharmaceuticals Limited as subsidiaries, the man is worth billions.

The franchise owners/manufacturers of popular brands like Eva Wine, Goya Oil, Adonko Bitters, Mayonnaise, Sardine, Eva Soap, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Baron de Valls Wine, Don Simon Drink, Meditol Soap, to mention but a few, their headquarters have since shifted to highbrow Victoria Island. With factories and branches scattered here and there.
Decorated as an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic by ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2011, he started out in Onitsha, Anambra State, before berthing years later in Lagos, Nigeria’s then capital, where fame and fortune located him almost immediately.

Born on December 31, 1960, his late father was a shoe dealer, which obviously must have been where and how he fell in love with business. A native of Ichi, near Nnewi, Anambra State, his education couldn’t advance beyond Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi. But via interminable reading and travelling, the man has so expanded his horizon and outlook that except you are told you will classify him among the graduates.

Married to Ngozi, a.k.a Mmili Aku, and blessed with wonderful children, his father’s plan was to hand him over his shoe business. Which he declined and resisted, choosing instead to pursue his own vision and dream. A move that ultimately paid off, and very handsomely too.

A proud member of the Knights of Saint Christopher, the white-loving businessman who also holds the title of Okpuluisizuluora of Amichi is heavily into philanthropy.

One of his Rolls Royce carries the customised number plate: Okpuluisi, which literally means the one who does for all.

Highlife music kings, Oliver de Coque and Osita Osadebe, also documented same as well as his many businesses in their various albums before they bowed out. Thus, making him a household name, especially East of the Niger.

Wife of Facebook owner Vs wife of Facebook user.

Ndi efulefu will still come and defend the later and remind you she makes money from going clothless on Facebook.

Whereas the one clothed is the boss who pays out stipends to the unclothed umu ewus who goes about shaking nyash bolobolo and balabala in the name of content and entertainment.

Dear young women choose ye today the type of women you want to toll their path.

They say "varieties is the kini kan of life". That is the new line of okwu nkasi obi these online efulefus uses in consoling themselves when defending the iberiberism of naked women online, but I'd rather not be part of the nuisance constituting varieties on the internet that will make the society question your upbringing and family background most of the time.

No be all money dey bring joy and peace of mind on the long run.

Nah laziness dey make people like Yanbaba resort to content creating with his young marriage when he knows he has no talent, instead of going to Mgbuka Obosi to go and be hustling like his mates. Thereby always bringing upon his young family and extended family members insults and drags maka nonsense money made from content creating.

Sorry I deviated.

Dear young girls,
You can still be popular and rich while being classy and wearing decent clothes.

Do you know there is an abandoned seaport in Enugu ?

This is an abandoned seaport in Uzouwuani Enugu state called Ogurugu seaport built and commissioned in 1978.

This abandoned seaport, after some work had been done there was built for cargo ships that were loading and offloading agricultural produce there.
This abandoned seaport was from where colonialists entered northern Igboland and where the entire Igbo nation in this side of the world traded their goods and transported their agricultural produce to the outside world.

In this abandoned seaport one can see the debris of what is left of the commercial bank used by colonialists and Igbo traders at the port for transactions in Ogurugu seaport Enugu .

FACTS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS.
1. Sleeping alone is better than sharing your BED with someone who shares a BED with someone else when you are not around.

2. Cheating does not mean you have to kiss, meet or have s*x with a third party. Once you find yourself deleting texts and e-mails so that your partner will not see them, you are already there.

3. If a man is crazy about you, pray he does not get well, if he is getting well, know that another woman is giving him some tablets.

4. First love may not die, but true love can bury it.

5. If you still believe "LOVE IS BLIND" then I know for sure MARRIAGE WILL OPEN IT FOR YOU.

6. A woman's beautiful face attracts a flirt; A woman's beautiful heart attracts a lover; A woman's beautiful character attracts a man.

7. Never you fall in love because you are lonely, fall in love because you are ready.

8. A blessed water is better than a cursed fried rice. A Godly poor man is far much better than an angry rich man in marriage.

9. I will rather have you stay in your fathers house that you are sure of, than pack into a man's house you are not sure of.

10. Most men base their capacity of manhood and their abilities to fertilize ovaries and produce children. Any man can impregnate a woman. The real deal is HOW MANY MEN CAN BE THE FATHER TO THEIR CHILDREN, not promoters of ABORTION?

11. HOLY Wives do not just speak in tongues, they MANAGE their homes, make SUPER meals, raise GODLY kids, and finally they
bring out the KING in their man.

12. When you tend to your garden diligently you will be the one to reap the fruit of the vine thereof.

13. You can say "sorry" a million times, say "I love you" as much as you want, say whatever you want, but if you are not going to prove that the things you say are true, then do not say anything at all. Because if you cannot show it, your words do not mean a thing.

14. Never you lie in order to satisfy somebody for a moment, because the pain that you cause them in the future can last them for a

THE ANCIENT FEMINISM OF OLD IGBO TRADITION
(The Female POPES of IGBO Ethnic Group)

THE QUESTION
A child belongs to his fatherland and not his motherland; and yet, we say 'NNEKA' - 'Mother is Supreme.' Why is that?'
(Things Fall Apart - pg 106)

I was born in the eastern part of Nigeria, Igbo Tribe. It does not in any way represent the whole Africa, but allow me to tell you about my forefathers and the place of a woman in the ancient Igbo tradition and custom. One of the biggest lies in the world's history is the record that claimed that women were objectized in Igbo Land. There is no truth in it.

In as much as Igbos - like every patriarchal society of the old -
prefered male children, their daughters were their pride. A woman perpetually belongs to her father's house. It is called 'Okputolokpu' - everlasting, that is why every Igbo community calls grown daughters born in a family - Umu okpu. This explains why a man can never finish the marital rites of a woman in Igbo land. During bride price, no Igbo community would accept everything offered as dowry. The reason is that the woman is priceless.

That is why, in Igbo tradition and custom, when a man beats his wife, the wife can return to his father's house. It is not a taboo, and before the husband can take the woman he MUST -according to the tradition - go to his in-laws with a pot/bottle of wine.

NO ONE IN HISTORY HAS EVER FINISHED PAYING THE DOWRY OF AN IGBO WOMAN FOR SHE IS PRICELESS

One of my oldest relative had only sons and no daughters; he normally said to his sons, 'You do not have a sibling yet.'

In the Igbo ethnic group, a child belongs to the fatherland but is referred to as the child of the mother. The term 'Siblings' is generally known as 'Nwanne' (trans. the child of my mother because men were polygamous, the children of your mother are your siblings).

A male sibling is 'Nwanne m Nwoke' (The male child of my mother)

A female sibling is 'Nwanne m Nwanyi' (The female child of my mother).

History of 4 market days in Igbo land

It was during the reign of Eze Nrijiofor I 1300-1390AD, the fifth Eze Nri in the line of succession. One day during his reign, four strangers came to visit him at his palace. When they arrived, these four wise men or ‘magi’ pretended to be deaf and dumb. They did not say their names or their mission to Nri. Each of them carried ‘nkata’-basket known as “Abuokpa”.

They were taken to the visitors’ room by the king’s servant-‘Adama’. Later in the evening, the Eze went to see them, but they did not greet the Eze and did not acknowledge his greetings. ‘Oji’-kolanut was presented to them but they did not say anything.

Later at night, they were shown where to sleep. In the middle of the night, the Eze’s soothsayers sent a rat to disturb them. When the rat went to the first basket that belonged to ‘eke’ and started to nibble at it, ‘oye’ woke up and said “‘eke’ wake up”. When he answered him; ‘oye’ told ‘eke’ that a rat was trying to get to his basket. Eke woke up and the rat ran away. After a while, the rat repeated the same trick on the remaining baskets, and in the same manner, all of them revealed each other’s names.

In the morning, the Eze went to the strangers’ room to greet them and to perform the ‘oji ututu’-morning kola nut rituals. The Adama broke the kola nuts and the king called each of the visitors by their names-‘eke’ ‘oye’ ‘afo’ and ‘nkwo’. The visitors which were referred to as ‘o bialu ije ekwu okwu’-visitors that do not talk, were astonished when they heard their names being mentioned by the Eze.

They asked for water to wash their hands and faces; and took the kola nuts that were presented to them. After chewing the kola nuts, they gave the King ite ano-four earthen pots and directed him to keep the pots in front of the Nri Menri shrine outside the ‘obu’-palace, with each pots facing the sun. ‘Eke’ who was their spokesman, told the Eze that the first pot was owned by him, ‘eke’, the second one by ‘oye’ the third by
