MINOR SEVENTH CHORD
The minor seventh chord is a poly chord ( a chord that consist of more than three notes). It consists of root, flattened third, fifth and flattened fifth.
HOW IS IT FORMED
1) By Picking the root, flat third, fifth and flat seventh of any key.

Example: let's derive a C minor seventh chord from the C major scale
>>> C D E F G A B C
1 2 3 4. 5 6 7 8• C is the root
• E is the third, we're going to drop it down by a half step to Eb
• G is the fifth
• B is the seventh but we're going to drop it down by a half step to Bb..

Therefore C minor seventh chord is (C Eb G Bb).

2) Minor seventh chord can also be formed by adding a flattened seventh note to a minor triad.

Example in the key of C.

Form a C minor triad (C Eb G)
Add the flattened seventh (Bb)

Hence C minor seventh is C Eb G Bb

Let's also form an F minor seventh chord

• Firstly, form an F minor triad (F Ab C)
• Add the flattened seventh (Eb)

Hence F minor seventh chord is F Ab C Eb
