🧡💙

I was seeing Suits, an American law movie when an actress who's accused of stealing someone's idea said, "there's a thin line between theft and inspiration. And in a world where people have similar ideas all the time, resemblance would happen."

Now this might be a perfect defence for plagiarism. Or even patent infringement. Or plainly intellectual property theft. And it might seem dubious. But it's still valid and true.

Ideas are not original. No idea is new. The project you have had in your head for a couple of months now came from an already existing idea you have seen, studied and internalised. But now you're working on it and it's looking brand new.

But you do not actually have a NEW idea. You know, right?

Now these are what you did—

• You reproduced an already existing idea
• You remade and refined the idea
• You branded the idea
• Now you're marketing it differently. Or you're about marketing it differently.

But the good thing—

It has distinctions when compared to the original idea. So there it is.

Why am I writing you this?

You beat yourself up a lot trying to form new ideas. You want it to be purely original. Which is not even possible.

So instead of endless struggles of taking years to get a fresh idea, why not look around you, find an already existing one and improve on it.

The sweetest part of my work is when a client sees his or her and then says, "oya, send your bank details."

At that moment I'll just blush real hard😊

It's just like two days ago while I talked with my friend Yirejah O. E. Moffat on how she can optimize her Facebook profile for her catering business and content writing.

The moment we got to the part where she would pay me money for consultation, I became excited that I left her a Voice Note for the first time since we started talking.

But then, it seems as though only a few skilled persons enjoy this special feeling.

Do you get it often as a business owner?

How about as a skilled person?

You see some people's business are not making enough to sustain growth and development.

It's not as though they're not working enough.

It's not as though they don't have the skill.

But then it's about them lacking the basic skill of marketing themselves and their business.

Have you heard of content marketing?

Do you know that what I'm doing now is content marketing?

I'm not directly or explicitly promoting anything to you, but I'm still stimulating interest inside you.

That's the aim.

There's no limit to how you can sell yourself and your business here my friend.

I can help you.

It's all I want to do here.

So stay with me, we would learn from each other, we would exchange knowledge and we would get better.

A lovely Tuesday morning 😊

11/10/2021

I remembered something this morning and it makes me laugh.

It was while I stayed with my mom in Onitsha and I had newly started working online.

So I usually spend most of my time on my phone and laptop.

While leaving for her shop in the morning, my mom would see me on a screen. When she's back in the evening, she would still find me on screen.

Then one day she said, "what exactly are you pressing? You stay at home all day doing nothing. Shebi you won't go and find work."

It was funny to me at inception. Until she became repetitive about it, about how I should go out and find a real job.

I would just shake my head and go back to work. I mean how do I possibly start explaining to my 60 year old mom how people can actually work and make money online.

How do I possibly explain to her that a Facebook community called THE KING MAKERS (TKM) is hosting an online contest called "Face Of TKM.02" where the winner gets 100k and 30k monthly salary for a period of three months?

It's difficult. Because I'm sure if she hears that one, she would say it's Yahoo that I'm telling her about. And then she would ask me, "shebi you have joined them? No wonder you press phone all the time."

😀😀

I didn't want to make the famous rice and stew today. I wanted something I can swallow, and so Christabel and I settled for Okra soup.

At the shop where we bought the foodstuffs, people were trooping in and trooping out. The shop was literally packed. The owner was selling out.

At the opposite side is a smaller shop that sells similar stuffs. But the number that patronise there isn't close to the one at the other side. They are not even competing.

Then something happened!

After we finished buying from the packed shop and asked that they cut our vegetables, they quickly told us that they do not cut vegetables for buyers, that they do not have the time.

A loophole!

Then we saw people walking to the other side. They buy other stuffs from the packed shop and move to the smaller shop to buy vegetables. And the owner would cut them.

It appeared as the only way her shop could extract some customers from the big competition. And she's holding on to it.

Sometimes we find ourselves in similar situations. We find ourselves against a competition that's obviously way bigger and better than us...

There, maybe we can use this—

Find somewhere your competition is lacking and fill it up. You might not have the resources and might to compete in full capacity with them, but you can always attract something of theirs to yourself.

I hope this serves you value.

This is a client's work.

It's a How To Do design content.

It's a collection of multiple designs that explains how to do a task.

Now this content does not particularly market a product, but it's still promotional.

It doesn't tell you to BUY. But it's telling you that "Okay, hair products is what this brand sell."

And perhaps tomorrow you'll have need for organically prepared hair products and you'll remember LaurelNaturals.

Then it's offering you value als.

It's teaching you.

It's serving you knowledge.

Now you're thinking, "this is nice." And if you have been seeking for means to wash your hair, then you come across this, that can mean, "wow, this seller has me in mind.

As a seller, here you're a forming an emotional connection already with this potential customer. And that's very important to selling.

End point—

Do not allow sell to your audience. Provide them with value that will in turn be profitable to you.

I hope this serves you value.

When business owners ask that I run an ad from Tales Of Nigerian Students to their page, I usually ask that I see their space.

The reason is this:

People are beginning to be very careful with their money. So when you run an ad and they see it, they will first click to view your page and then check through the timeline before they click to your landing page.

While they are doing this, what they're seeking for is credibility. They're seeking for elements that will convince them that you're a real business with genuine market.

I usually see some people who create a Faceboök page just to run ads. The wall would be empty and the profile photo as well. And they go and run ads. Then ask the reason they're not making sales.

Really? You think sales page is enough?

Who buys from a faceless seller?

Yes!

That there is what a business without a properly branded and content filled social media pages look like—faceless.

So how do you achieve a branded page?

Set up your pictural elements and fill your space with content:

Reviews from buyers or users of your service
Testimonies
How To Do Contents
Information about your brand
Videos of your products/services
Storytelling
Engage your comment section

But know this, a business can have all these and still be fake.

But then that's the benefit of branding. It offers credibility even to the fake. You just have to know how to do it well.

I hope this serves you value.

When you hear expression like, "you need to find your target audience" what do you think they mean?

Now this is where the problem is.

And it's not actually about finding your target audience.

Rather it's about understanding what it means to find your target audience on social media.

A couple of years back when I started creating content, I didn't have a niche.

And that meant I didn't have dominance. I didn't have somewhere I could say I was well knowledged about.

So I was shooting sporadically, jumping and mixing content.

Yes, I was going getting engagements and reactions. But then I couldn't convert.

Trust me, all we are doing here is attempt to convert knowledge or skill into rewards, real money rewards.

And you can't never achieve that if you're not taking charge at ONE THING, at least.

So what does finding your target audience mean again?

Simply narrowing your content to only a few set of people who are bounded by the interest they have in your content/business. Constantly feed them what they need and they become what you call them—target audience.

I hope this serves you value.

Always remember...

Do you know that comment management is a service social media manager offer even as independent contract?

Like a business can hire a social media manager to offer strictly comment management services?

Comment section is no longer JUST comment section. For businesses that mean business online, comment section is now an essential element of social media strategy.

It's in comment section that most Business to Business relationship are formed. Equally, the relationship between a customer and a business is fostered in the comment section.

And so there's need for you as business and as a personal brand to take your comment section seriously.

Think of strategic ways to engage your audience. Make excellent connections.

As a business, trust me, if you are able to provide customer service to comments from unsatisfied customers quickly, you can avoid losing such customers and end up gaining new ones as well.

So what tips can you use to enhance the management of your comment section:

• As a business, always ask your audience for feedbacks and suggestions. Doing this engages them. Equally have them for problems they face with your product or service.

See this as a tool or avenue to g*ther data for improvement.

• Always keep the responses short and to the point. Ensure that it's solving a problem or creating familiarity.

• Appreciate your audience. When you respond to their comments, say nice, appreciative words to them.

As a personal brand:

• Go personal. Relate to your audience on a personal level. Talk to them as though they are close friends. Avoid officiality.

• Form relationship with your audience. Go beyond creator and consume interaction. Talk with them off the comment section.

• Create humor. Make small jokes on the comment section. React with HAHA button.

• Ensure to answer questions asked.

• Try to reply every comment dropped. It often mean something, even when you do not intend it to, when you respond to some and leave some. It can come off as audience selection based on important.

I hope these serve you valvalu.

Half the ideas I generate in a day do not come to life. That means I do not get to write and share them on here.

Do you know why?

It's simply because each time I generate them, I always trust my mind to retain them until when I need them.

I could be walking around my street and find a situation, an event, or a display of character that can teach a lesson...

But because I can't immediately reach for my phone, open Facebook and write, I would try to memorize and hope to write later.

80% of times I did this, I never recall these lessons. I do not even recall that I'm supposed to write them at all. And it always hurt me.

But I have found a solution and I hope maybe you can use it too.

When an idea comes to you, or you see an event that has a lesson you can create content from, log on to Facebook, whether you're online or offline, write two or three lines about that idea or situation or event. Then go back and save as DRAFT.

The purpose of this action is simply to help you remember that you're meant to create content out of the idea in the first place.

Then the two or three lines you wrote them will serve as trigger. So the moment you visit your DRAFT and see them, you'll immediately recall the whole you event or idea you experience earlier and from them you can expand your writing.

It works for me.

I hope it works for you.

Always remember...

12/09/2021

Do you know that in 2006, three persons tried to sell Coca-Cola trade secrets to Pepsi?

By trade secret I mean recipes, product development documents, presentations and other highly valued information.

But what happened at this event?

When Pepsi was approached by these sellers, instead of buying these trade secrets, they alerted Coca-Cola immediately and helped them catch these sellers.

The twist of the story is that for ages, Pepsi and Coca-Cola have been at war for market shares.

They sell the same thing. Their products contain almost the ingredients except for few diversities. And they are constantly fighting to outsell each other.

But yet Pepsi didn't buy these secrets.

In a blog post a I read on the subject, the Pepsi spokesman, when asked about the reason Pepsi didn't buy those Coca-Cola secrets, he said, “We did what any responsible company would do. Competition can be fierce, but it must also be fair and legal.”

I think we all can learn something from this event.

Modern businesses, traders, sellers and buyers.

A Competition doesn't mean an enemy.

That you sell the same thing as the next person doesn't mean you can go any length to endanger the business of the other person.

It's called healthy competition. It's benefitial.

Today, it's obvious Coca-Cola owes Pepsi. They might not say it, but it's there. "These people passed over buying our secrets" that means something.

That speaks of integrity.

That speaks of good sportsmanship.

I hope this serves you value.

To make our card playing fun yesterday, Christabel and I decided to put up a prize for the winner.

The agreement was the first person to win five games gets a pack of peanut and a bottle of Chapman's Smoov.

30 minutes into the game, I was leading with 3 wins and Christabel had nothing.

Then suddenly, Christabel started manipulation of cards.

I don't really know, but I'm sure she did dubious things like hiding cards, playing more than one card at once and also pretending to go to market when she didn't.

Soon, we equalled to 4-4.

And then it happened.

Christabel got the last win. I didn't hear word all through. Aunty kept shouting, jubilating, that for the first time she has beaten me in something.

Then she demanded for her prize. And she got them.

It was after eating and drinking that she said, "do you know I didn't use to like this drink, Smoov? I don't know why, but recently I realise that I love to take it."

That interested me. So I asked her, "what do you think changed? What do you think Influenced your choice?"

She said, "It's you. You like the drink too much and me being constantly exposed to it, and you drinking it, has made me grow to like it."

I found that more interestintg. I asked Christabel if she knew she just served a product/service marketing lesson now.

She "no" and I explained my thought.

Sometimes when we are selling a product/services to a client and they say "not interested" that usually becomes the end of that selling attempt. We would then move on to another client. Or even stop selling at all.

I must quickly say that I'm guilty of this behavior too. But I'm learning and I'm making changes.

Do you know why you see Jumia ads on Facebook after you have visited their website or app to check some items?

It's simple—

They're not giving up on the belief that you could buy their products.

Yes, you have left their website/app without buying, but they believe that with more marketing, with more exposure to their products on your end, that you can change your mind and buy.

So when a client or customer says, "no, I'm not interested," what do you do?

It's simple again—

Keep marketing to their face. Find that place/platform that you always meet them and keep advertising there.

Trust me, it's working their mind. It's registering. And one day, they'll slide into your DM and ask, "can I have your bank details?"

11/09/2021

I have seen people here who change their profile photo yearly.

At the beginning of the new year, they will visit a studio and take fresh photos, then select one to be their face.

This one photo, they ensure to use it as their profile image at every social media platforms that they use for personal or business purposes.

Some do half the year. Some do monthly.

But whichever timing you chose to use, I think it's important you understand how frequently changing of your profile photo affects your online consistency and branding.

Profile photo is an element of every personal brand.

It's like a logo.

It's for identification.

Do not change often!

We have reached a stage online where your name isn't the chief factor to use and identify you.

This is because many people bear almost the name with you. Some names are even positioned the same manner you did yours.

This is where your profile photo helps. It sets you apart. And when it's professionally placed, it attracts more audience and potential employers.

These days, your social media profile picture is equivalent to what an appropriate job interview outfit was 20 years ago. Appearances can speak volumes.

Please, Invest in it.

11/09/2021

After creating a professional page on Face.book, the next thing you rush to do is to send random invites to your friends to like your new page.

Whenever I receive such an invite, what I do first is to visit the page to see what it's about and read through its content.

To my utter shock, I find that most of the pages have zero content.

So, why invite friends to like the page in the first place?

I usually decline such invites...

And I have found that even after I declined, I somehow receive the invite again.

I decline again, you send the invite back again, repeating the cycle over and over.

What exactly is the colour of your problem?

Please stop giving me unnecessary headaches 😭😭😭

See ba...

It's okay to invite friends a couple of times to your page in case they passed it up mistakenly, but don't send the invite to the same friends time and again.

People become angry when you send them an invite 3 times over.

Imagine how they would feel when you send it, say 100 times.

They will definitely ha.te and ba.sh you...

Do not take it personally if some do not accept your invitation.

Try to find out why they declined.

You could slide into their DM and strike up a meaningful conversation.

Then, prudently, ask carefully crafted questions as to why they declined.

I no say make you go dey interrog*te people for their DM.

Try to be as conversational as possible.

Listen as they tell you their reasons.

This method works like MAGIC.

If set up a page, make you try dey put up content.

Na content be the life of the page.

And the type of content you put up matters a lot.

Suppose na business page you set up.

Does that mean you should constantly post promotional or commercial content?

Does that mean that every post you make must be about your product or the service you render?

Come and buy this, come and buy that all the time.

That's not an entirely wrong move.

However, doing so could amount to choking your audience with your business and that would scare them away.

Nowadays, people want to know more than just the product or service you offer.

•Show them how what you offer can impact them.

•Through your content, tell your audience what it took you to build your business up to the level it is.

•Take your audience through your daily routine.

•Talk about your challenges and how you were able to overcome them.

•Talk about your wins in a detailed manner (Don't just say 'Na God oh,' because He did not come down from heaven to take the actions that led to you winning).

•Offer pieces of advice to those who would want to build a similar business as you. If there are common pitfalls they should avoid, tell them.

In fact, create and post content that can appeal to people's emotions.

CONSISTENCY is awesome!

But, being consistent in doing the wrong things is a total WASTE.

When you keep advertising like these:

• "Come and patronize your geh"...

• "Come buy wetin I dey sell o, make hunger no finish me"..

• "I carry my market for head o, come buy before I vex for you o"..

• "Make una pity me buy na, your boy never chop since two days na"..

• "You dey see my business posts, dey skip am, fake friends everywhere"...

• "I no know why I get 5K friends, yet none of una dey patronize me"...

• " When I post pictures, una go run come full DM, but when the post business, una go disappear. Thunder go faya una o...

• "If una no patronize me, e no mean say I no go chop, God g*t my back.. . &More

• Etc,...

You'd never attract anyone with such adverts, except they're buying out of pity, which is the worst kind of purchase ever.

Its more interesting because you're consistent in "showing up" every day with your business, but you're consistent with showing it the wrong way, so don't expect anything different to happen overnight.

Sorry, nothing will change...

You'll still keep getting the same poor results, if not worse, because people are already bored with such marketing strategy.

Over 30 Million Nigerians sell in the same wack way, if you are not aware.

So, Nonso, what do I do now?

Give value.

Teach, and educate people about how your products will benefit them. Don't be SELFISH!

The 60 seconds videos I saw five minutes ago is a sponsored ad. It's a clip of a very young boy promising to show/teach people how to make 1.5 million naira in sales.

Believe me, his speech delivery is excellent. His message might be true, but then this was a comment someone left under the video. "So you have 1.5 million like this."

What followed is what you already know: HAHA reactions that exceeded the number of reaction to the actual content.

Two things are focus here:

The young boy lacked credibility and he over-promised.

Know this, in your attempt to convince people to buy your product or service, do not promise them heaven and earth, do not tell them that your product can solve their spiritual and physical problems. They can easily see through it.

And this can only bring you one thing— disbelief. And that can be bad for business.

But there can be exceptions.

I know valued people on here who can over-promise on their customers and they would still achieve massive sales.

And that's because of one commodity that they have achieved over the years— credibility.

Take these two things today. For one you're to build, and the other you're to avoid.

Before I started selling GROW YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE, I bought couple of courses on promotion, marketing and sales.

In one of the classes, I was taught the power of reviews and testimonies. I was taught the desperate for need for it. It doesn't only help you to convince; it equally offers you authenticity.

But I was new to selling online at the time. GROW YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE was my first book, and I hadn't sold a copy then let alone had a review from a reader.

So I was given this: Strategic Way To Collect Testimonies Even When You're New To The Market:

It's simple. It only required to offer your service/product to your immediate families, friends or associate and request a review from them.

If it's a book, offer them a free copy, ask them to read and respond through WhatsApp or email. You can go ahead to give them direction to the exact details you need in their reviews.

That's often the reason some reviews say too much. You'll read them and immediately see that something is missing...

And that's genuineness, this particular quality that it's only Happivibe Services that I have seen posses.

You should know, the best form of reviews you can have for your product/service are the ones you didn't beg for, they are the ones users of your service/customers genuinely gave out of satisfaction and fulfillment they felt using your service or product.

HappiVibes has just that uniqueness.

So in your business deliveries, do not strive to accumulate reviews/testimonies; rather work tirelessly to provide your customers/audience the best of yourself, the best of your service, the best of your product. Then sit back and watch them hama you with better better praise and testimonies 😀
