IGBO LEGAL SYSTEM MORE ADVANCED THAN THE ENGLISH SYSTEM - AKAOLISA

The legal luminary and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Imo state, Chief Barr. Cyprian Okechukwu Charles Akaolisa has averred that the Igbo traditional legal system is far more advanced and organized than the English legal system which was imposed on us by the colonialists.
Speaking during the launch of his book titled " Anthology of African Jurisprudence", last weekend, at Concorde hotels, Owerri, Barr. Akaolisa maintained that the Igbo traditional means of getting Justice has been discovered to be more advanced, organized and democratic than that of the English legal system which is very autocratic and undemocratic.
Akaolisa noted that in his book he compiled varied arguments about the subject matter from many Professors of law.
He said, while some were questioning through their books that the African legal system does not exist, others were of the opinions that it existed and even better than that of the white men. According to him, one author stood his ground and wrote that there was nothing like barbaric or evil about the African legal system as opined by the Europeans.
The Attorney General said that what he is doing through his book is to sell our indigenous African legal system to the world and to showcase that the Africans have a proper, well defined legal system that guided their existence before the coming of the white men adding that there inability to study it doesn't mean it never existed. He said African scholars like him knew it was a perfect system of delivering justice and better than the English system.
He gave instance of how the African system worked by saying that you don't punish a man for killing another man by killing him, rather you bannish him to an unknown destination to go and suffer for his sins and never return to his community. Also, if you damage another man's property, if the leaders look into it and found you guilty, you will be ordered to replace what you damaged. Unlike English legal system, more people are involved in taking decision on a particular matter making it democratic and transparent.
He said, African judicial system is better because it encompasses both the democratic and the Justice system, also it begins from arbitration and ends in justice system while the white men system begins with justice system and sometimes involve arbitration. He said the world has started embracing the African system .

The Imo state House of Assembly deputy speaker, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu who represents Nwangele LGA has been impeached by 18 Honourable members.

The Honourable members and others who do not want their names mentioned said the former deputy speaker was the cause of the crises rocking the house especially the suspension of the seven Honourable members. But meanwhile the suspension of the honourable members has been lifted and normalcy returned.

The management and staff of the Mouthpiece Newspaper have felicitated with the newest secretary of the People's Democratic party PDP Chief Samuel Anyanwu after the national convention yesterday.

Chief Anyanwu before his emergence was the south East consensus candidate for the position. He was a Senator representing Owerri zone at the red Chambers Abuja.
Anyanwu had in the past displayed examplery leadership both in the Imo state House of Assembly and at the Senate and that has prompted his nomination to be the national secretary of the party.

Is Nigeria really a giant? I do not understand the basis of that illusion! These days I have stopped using South Africa in my speeches because many told me that it was not a fair comparison. So, I switched to Angola, and no one has explained why Angola budgets $45 billion for 33 million people when Nigeria can only manage $35 billion for 210 million with most of that $35 billion borrowed.

Fellow citizens, Angola is an oil nation. How can we retire all these men who have been running Nigeria since 1999 since whatever they are doing is not working? I mean we are severely underperforming as a nation across major metrics.

With The Gruesome And Mindless Killing Of Our Traditional Rulers In Njaba Local Government Area Of Imo State, I Have Come To Believe More The Revelation Of The Former Deputy Governor Of Central Bank Of Nigeria, Dr Obadiah Mailafia, From Southern Kaduna In Kaduna State, Before He Was Reportedly And Clandestinely Killed Few Weeks Ago, That As 2022 Approaches, The Fulani Bandits And BokoHaram Insurgents Would Take Their Killings To South East And Other Communities In The South, Killing Our Prominent People. According To Dr Obadiah, These Killings Are Grand Prelude To A Well Orchestrated Plot To Their Large Scale Killings And Civil War That Would Be Declared In 2022. As Soon As Dr Obadiah Mailafia Exposed The Evil Plot, He Was Subsequently Arrested And Detained. Although He Was Later Released, He Died Through Unexplainable Circumstance Months Later.

The agitation for NIGERIA Presidency of South East extraction has become a burning National issues that cannot be ignored by well meaning Nigerians.

This is pertinent considering the overdue neglect and marginalization of the Igbos in key Political Positions since the country's Independence to the extent that Igbos now doubt their true sense of belonging to the United Nigeria. A country that operates on the mantra --- " UNITY IN DIVERSITY"

As Political events unfold towards achieving equitable leadership representative and sustainable development plans for our dear country, there's need for considerable agreement in the nation's Political permutations that will usher a commensurate advantage to the Igbos to emerge the position of number one citizen of the country as we have in the past Supported other regions. This is a Mandate that we are going to pursue with every single vigor and every solidarity at our disposal.

In 2023, NIGERIA Political space will witness the greatest Political tsunami ever in the history, and by the special grace of God this will usher the a paradigm shift in the country's Governance.

This is evident in the recent zoning of party Chairmanship Position of PDP to the north, which invariably means that power will return to the south affiliated region and the ruling APC Congress are expected to follow suit. And South East stands the best favourable chance to grab the position when micro-zoned.

SUNCHI FARMS LTD BAGS POULTRY FARMERS' INTEGRITY AWARD

The Sunchi Farms limited, an agro processing business based in Enugu state has been honoured with Integrity award from the Poultry Association of Nigeria PAN, Imo state chapter for their performances and quality Services.
The award which was bestowed on the company during the recently concluded World Egg day / Poultry Conference 2021 at the Pastorial Centre Wetheral road, Owerri was received by Sales representative of Sunchi , Mr Raymond Ezemmaduka with great joy.
Mr Ezemmaduka in his speech thanked the Poultry farmers for the award. He said , Sunchi Farms limited deals with Day Old Chicks production which are builder farmers and hatcheries. "Other products include poultry feeds, catfish/ fingerlings, poultry equipments, Soya oil, processed chicken."
Ezemmaduka said his company was chosen for the award because of the quality of their products sold to customers, their Integrity and ability to touch lives positively. " The award is a great honour to the company and to encourage us to do more for the people".
He said poultry farmers honoured them mostly because of the quality of Day old chicks production which the association purchases regularly from the company.
Prof Abimbola Uzoma, a lecturer in Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO while presenting the award to Sunchi commended for their good works and enjoined them to do more for the people.
Other awardees included Ichie Sunday Ephraim Ezeobiora, Dr James Wageti, Mr Uchegbu Chijioke N, Dr Emmanuel Ohajinwa amongst others.

COMMUNIQUE OF THE NUJ KADUNA EMERGENCY CONGRESS .

The Nigerian Union of Journalists Kaduna State Council held an emergency Congress on the 5th October, 2021.

The Council deliberated extensively on the NUJ Delegates' Conference scheduled to hold at Umuahia, Abia State.

The Congress critically reviewed the security situation in the country and particularly, the continuous deteriorating security situation in the South East perpetrated by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

The Congress also looked into consideration the substantive Court Order restraining the National Executive Council (NEC) from proceeding with the elections process .

After a robust deliberations, the Kaduna State Council unanimously resolved by an overwhelming vote that it will not be attending the Abia Delegate Conference because of the serious risk members lives and properties would be exposed to.

However, Congress did not prevent any member from attending the aforementioned Conference in Abia on their personal capacity. Congress however , cautioned such members who might wish to attend not to claim to be representing the Kaduna State Council, warning of the dare consequences should anyone claim to representing the Council.

The Congress also unanimously re-admitted Isaiah K. Benjamin and Jacob Onjewu Dickson into Council after serving a suspension for over 12 months as provided the Union's constitution over matters on SWAN

APC LACKS POLITICAL WILL TO REVIVE NIGERIA - Senator Samuel Anyanwu

-ADVISES NIGERIANS TO LOOK TOWARDS PDP

Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has slammed the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) for lacking the political whilwithal to confront Nigerian challenges in order to engender economic stability.

Anyanwu maintained that if President Muhammadu Buhari's led APC administration is unable to restore security orderliness following killings of unarmed citizens across the country, it therefore means that the government does not posses the capacity to rescue Nigerians from economic savitude and untold hardship.

Senator Anyanwu therefore enjoined Nigerians to think towards the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 as better alternative, noting that the party possess the political will to revive and revamp the country's backwardness.

He regretted that despite billions of dollars allocated to security, education, health, agriculture and youth sectors, the country is still wobbling and staggering to survive.

According to him, "the problem of Nigeria is caused by the ruling APC and her leaders. Not only that they lack the vision and better programmes to lift the country from her current economic, social and political quagmire, but it is obvious that they cannot perform even if the masses give them more time to improve"

Anyanwu further urged Nigerians to rescue the country by voting APC out of power in 2023, describing their leadership in the last seven years as worse than hell.

The officials of the Cocoa and Plantain Farmers Association, Imo state chapter have visited the chairman , Imo state council of Ndi Eze inline with our resolve to reach all the stakeholders in Imo state concerning cocoa and Plantain farming.
The courtesy visit which held on the 24th day of September, 2021 at the palace of Ndi Eze, Mbari, Owerri was very remarkable and promising.
Ambassador Innocent D**e in his speech, noted that the visit was to advocate and attract the support of the royal fathers to cocoa and Plantain Farmers Association in Imo state.
His Royal Majesty, Eze Emma Okeke in his speech, expressed his happiness over the benefits that will come from cocoa production if engaged and the infact that it can be intercropped with palm trees and plantains. He assured that he will facilitate the gathering of traditional rulers of Imo state for CPFAN Imo state to make their presentations on cocoa and Plantain farming.

I read with amusement the level at which some opposition member in Imo have turned to overnight emergency roads experts and flood alert machines. What is more funny is the fact that even Okorocha supporters are the ones making the highest noise and posting pictures of minor porthole on the roads constructed by Governor Uzodimma including uploading snap shots and videos of floodings in some areas within Owerri. No doubt, this can be likened to a confirmed Pr******te shamelessly mocking a happily married woman in a market place. Do you understand where iam going?

To start with, Governor Uzodimma as a matter of truth, can be said to be a paragon as long as constructing durable roads are concerned. We all saw how Imo state roads were and how the roads were left in a state of disrepair for 8 years Okorocha was Governor. The short lived Ihedioha's government did not help matter much as nothing tangible was done for the 7 months except giving excuses. However, immediately Governor Uzodimma came on board, two greatest problems that he inherited were: puncity of funds and bad roads. By the time Okorocha left office, there was no single motorable road in the whole of Imo state. I stand to be challenged.

Construction of roads under him witnessed the highest level of shabbiness and shoddiness. The roads got destroyed before the completion of the same roads. That gave Imo state the notoriety in Nigeria as the state with 'China' or 'Biscuit roads. We lived with that stigma untill Okorocha left office.

Though, I am not an Engineer neither am I a Road construction expert but I know that Governor Uzodimma is not compromising standard in road construction .

PRESIDENT BUHARI DIRECTS INCORPORATION OF NNPC LTD, APPOINTS BOARD

President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacity as Minister of Petroleum Resources, has directed the incorporation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

This is in consonance with Section 53(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, which requires the Minister of Petroleum Resources to cause for the incorporation of the NNPC Limited within six months of commencement of the Act in consultation with the Minister of Finance on the nominal shares of the Company.

The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr Mele Kolo Kyari, has, therefore, been directed to take necessary steps to ensure that the incorporation of the NNPC Limited is consistent with the provisions of the PIA 2021.

Also, by the power vested in him under Section 59(2) of the PIA 2021, President Buhari has approved the appointment of the Board and Management of the NNPC Limited, with effect from the date of incorporation of the Company.

Chairman of the Board is Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, while Mele Kolo Kyari and Umar I. Ajiya are Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Financial Officer, respectively.

Other Board Members are; Dr Tajudeen Umar (North East), Mrs Lami O. Ahmed (North Central), Mallam Mohammed Lawal (North West), Senator Margaret Chuba Okadigbo (South East), Barrister Constance Harry Marshal (South South), and Chief Pius Akinyelure (South West).

Due to the ongoing renovation of the Imo NUJ modern conference Hall that is yet to be completed, the Imo state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ has shifted the date of commissioning of two of it's facilities slated Friday, 17th of September, 2021 to next week.

The Caretaker Committee is poised to bringing back the union to its former glory hence needs to put finishing touches to the renovation of the facilities to a required standard.

We regret all inconveniences that this postponement may cause our guests, members and general public. The next date will be communicated after Union's emergency Congress on Sunday, September 19,2021.

Incessant sit-at-home - Imo SEYEA demands unconditional release of Kanu
The Imo state chapter of the South East Youths for Equity and Alliance SEYEA has decried the incessant sit-at-home order which has been hampering the economy of the south East zone and has demanded the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been under the DSS custody for months now.
Speaking to our reporter in his office recently, the Imo state coordinator of SEYEA, Comrade Deacon Austin Okoro said the constant sit-at-home in the South East has negative effects on the economy of the zone and Nigeria in general. The Apostle noted that the Federal Government of Nigeria has seen that the people of the zone are aggrieved over the continued detention of the IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and wish the federal government will hear the voice of reason and release him.
The media expert and Apex youth leader urged the South East governors to use the powers of their office to fight for his unconditional release so as to quench the sit-at-home order and return normalcy to the people of the zone.
As a man of peace, he prays for peace in the country as war does no one any good.

The Noble Laurette of international repute Professor Wole Soyinka has averred that it is not a sin to demand for the Sovereign State of Biafra after so many years of deprivations and marginalisation.
He noted that Biafra is long overdue for freedom after the Nigeria Biafra war of 1967 to 1970 which is about 50 years from today.

Filling stations in Imo disobey govt directives, still shut down..As Eberelinks, others sell #1500 per vehicle at normal price - Imolites lament

The government of Imo state led by Governor Hope Uzodimma yesterday during church service at government house ordered the filling stations in Imo to open and sell at the normal pump price of #165 per litre with effect from Monday 13th September, 2021 so as to alleviate the sufferings of the Imo masses, but surprisingly, the filling stations are still locked till now.
Our correspondent who went round the state capital, Owerri, said the filling stations are still not open for business this morning. He said Eberelinks and few others who are open are selling normal prices but you will not buy more than #1500 per vehicle.
An eye witness report who does not want his name mentioned said he had been on the queue for more than two hours without fuel and urged the government of Imo state to enforce its directives and ensure total compliance to it.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Imo state will on September 17th 2021 commission its Mini Conference hall and a Cyber Cafe to enable Imo Journalists have a comfortable place to practise their profession.
In a press release signed by the Chairman Mr Precious Nwadike and Secretary Mr Austin Okoro , it states that Imo NUJ will be commissioning its Mini conference Hall and a Cyber Cafe whch have been duly completed.
The union invites all and sundry to that event to enable them see the good works the union is doing for the benefits of Imo People in general and Journalists in particular. The event promises to be great and entertaining.

Eric Uwakwe celebrates 32nd birthday as Henry Okafor hails Uzodimma"s achievements

The amiable Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo state on Youth Affairs, Comrade Eric Uwakwe has celebrated his 32nd birthday amidst pomp and pageantry.
Dr Henry Okafor who was the former Managing Director of the Imo state oil producing area development commission ISOPADEC while congratulating him during the celebration at the Youth centre recently said Governor Hope Uzodimma has done very well in the short time of his administration in providing infrastructures and other developmental projects to the people of Imo state. He said Governor Hope Uzodimma is the first governor to come from the oil producing area and had done well by ensuring the signing of the petroleum industry act Which empowers the oil bearing communities to earn 3% of the income from oil.
Okafor noted that it is better to have that amount than to have none adding that it would be increased as time goes on and thanked Uzodimma for that. He said it will be good to have a good youth as our president in 2023 as having bad youths as leaders have caused Nigeria a lot in the past.
Hon Eric Uwakwe while receiving accolades for his achievements in the short time he held sway as the SA youths from his youth constituency, noted that he would do more for the youths but urged them to continue to support Gov Hope Uzodimma who has the Imo youths at his heart.
One of the youths from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri said Eric Uwakwe has been a blessing to the youths of Nigeria and Imo state in particular.
The turnout at the event showed that Hon Uwakwe is doing well as SA youths.

ORJI DEVT TRUST FUNDS FOR RENOVATION OF SCHOOLS, HALLS - BARR ANOZIE

The former governorship aspirant in Imo state and the chairman Organizing Committee of the 2021 Orji new yam festival, Barr. Chima Anozie (AKA Homebase) has stated that his committee will utilize the funds given to them under the Orji Development Trust Fund for the renovation of oha Hall and the Orji town primary school.
His stated this at the occasion of the Orji new yam festival (Iriji Orji) last weekend at the Orji Town Primary school.
Barr Anozie noted that this year's celebration was awesome as men and women of impeccable personalities donated to the development of Orji Town under the Orji Development Trust Fund. He stated that what made him to go into the Orji Development Trust Fund was because of the Iri ji (new yam festival) adding that under two weeks he was able to raise more than #1.5 million naira. He said, if people could willingly donate their money for others to enjoys that shows unity and love among Orji People.
" We have a project to complete, it is Oha Hall which is on a bad shape, the work will commence on Tuesday". Anozie noted.
He averred that the committee will use the funds to also build a befitting Sign Post for the Orji Town Primary school and to evacuate all the refuse dumps around the school.
Homebase thanked God for the success of this year's Orji new yam festival adding that the large crowd that turned out for the programme this year showed that Orji People are hungry for peace, love and unity.
Adding his voice, Nze Oha Francis Ekeocha said the benefits of the new yam annual festival are Joy , peace and unity for the people. He noted that Iri ji new yam festival is the culture of Igbo people and has nothing to do with fe**sh beliefs or idol worship but to give glory to God for the successful end of the harvest season.

BEMORE: ONYEUKWU LAUDS MRS AKEREDOLU FOR RAISING FEMALE LEADERS

The BEMORE Imo coordinator and Senior special Assistant Media to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, Rowland Onyeukwu has lauded the first lady of Ondo state, Her Excellency, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for raising up the 21st century Nigeria girl child into technology and innovative driven future leaders.

In his remark at the occasion of Bemore Boot camp 2021 closing ceremony held Saturday 28th August at Goshen Anglican retreat, centre, Owerri, he noted that the BEMORE summer boot camp Programme was the initiative of Her Excellency, Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu the first lady of Ondo state who saw the need to empower the 21st century Nigeria girl child with the right knowledge and skills to face and conquer the challenges of the society.

" Bemore philosophy has been all about equipping young secondary school girls with modern day life changing skills and experiences to actualize their maximum potential in life," he said.

The media adviser enthused that the Bemore Initiative has within two weeks trained about fourteen girls on solar technology, ICT, music, taekwondo, public speaking, breast cancer awareness, SDGs, fine and applied arts, homemade products etc.

He said, about 1500 girls have graduated from the Bemore academy and have been doing well in life.

Mr Onyeukwu appealed to well spirited individuals to join force with her Excellency and ensure more girls are trained in the years to come.

Her Excellency, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu in her address expressed her excitement over the success of the two weeks Programme.

She said, " today , I am exceptionally elated looking at my girls grow remarkably within the space of two weeks and it brings unending joy to my heart and reminds me of the words Maya Angelou which says "Just do it right."

She said her quest to position the girl child to be self reliant is the right thing to do no matter the cost.
