Being Young Is An Advantage To Break More Barriers And Get More Done. Are You Using This Time Well?

Bukky was always passionate about sketching and creating new fashion styles, and she was really proud of her work.

She was self-taught and inspired by her own ideas, and she was determined to make her dreams come true.

Unfortunately, Bukky's friend wasn't very supportive of her dreams. She always said that sketching and designing fashion wasn't a real job and that she should focus on getting a 9-to-5 job instead.

Bukky was determined to keep going, but the discouraging words of her friend slowly started to take a toll on her.

One day, Bukky was so fed up with all the discouraging words that she decided to give up on her dream and focus on getting a 9-to-5 job.

She thought that was easier and therefore the best decision for her future.

A few years later, Bukky was surprised to see her friend online as a successful fashion icon.

Her friend had achieved what Bukky had always wanted to achieve.

Her friend's designs were mind-blowing and unique. (She copied some designs Bukky sketched years back, but many others were created by her, herself)

Bukky felt a wave of regret and anger wash over her.

She wished she hadn't listened to her friend and had kept going with her dreams.

She wished she had the courage and determination to keep pushing forward and make her dreams come true.

She wished she hadn't given up so easily.

Bukky was determined to start again.

She started sketching and designing fashion again, but this time around, it was much more harder to come up with a creative design.

Her oil of inspiration seems to gave dried up.

She blamed herself for ever listening to her friend.

She wish she had a mind of her own when it was much necessary.

HANTY, COVER YOUR LEGS!

It happened some years ago.

We, the students were all seated as the audience while the two teams — comprising of students from different classes in the senior secondary section sat opposite each other like they always do during debate, under the shade that was created with palm fronds.

The debate was intense as every representatives from each team stood up to defend their points as if their lives depended on it as the time keeper jingled the bell each time their time elapsed, and other teachers that served as judges jot some things down in their books.

By the time the heated debate was over and the teachers were giving their remarks on the just concluded rounds of argument, I noticed her.
(She was in one of the debate teams, seated before teachers and the students audience)

She sat so recklessly and carelessly that I began to feel so ashamed on her behalf as if I was the one seated that way.

Some of the males students attention were on her recklessly opened legs and I felt as if I should blindfold them or help her to cover her legs — it's been long since I hated seeing women being treated disrespectfully.

However, she was there, deeply engrossed in what the teachers were saying about each students that represented each team.

I tried making eye contact with her so I could call her attention to her opened legs.

It took me about five minutes to eventually get her attention, and when I did, I quickly gestured to her to cover her legs.

She did that immediately.

But you won't believe it when I say that within the next two minutes that her attention got turned back to what the teachers were saying, her legs were carelessly opened again.

I tried a couple of times again to get her to close her legs, but when I noticed that it was something she did unconsciously, I gave up and focused on the event of the day.

But then, I felt so embarrassed on her behalf — the boys seated on our side were all feeding their eyes freely, and the lady was beautiful.

Dear lady;

You need to start respecting your body before you expect others to respect it for you.

It has to be a conscious effort from you if you don't want to keep being used and ill treated.

Things won't just change over night because you desire a change, there is something you've got to do to make that change.

Being attractive as a lady is not just about your dress or beautiful face, it comprises of many other things which includes your LIFESTYLE.

Dear lady;
Before you decide to push the whole blame on men that have in one way or the other use or treat you in a way you don't like.

Step back a bit and truthfully pinpoint your own actions that gave them the greenlight to keep treating you the way they did.

One thing that you should know as a lady is that, it is how you place yourself that will determine how men will place you.

It is the tune you set that they will dance to.

You can't be a lady that knows her worth and what she represents and a man from nowhere will come and trample on you or treat you inhumanely or disrespectfully — why?

Because such a man won't even catch your fancy in the first place; the value you place on yourself will screen some men out without you having to do anything.

You are a major determinant in how men choose to regard you — starting from the day your paths first crossed.

One of the reasons why ladies take all forms of disrespect from a man is because they don't know their worth or how they should be treated — therefore, any Tom, Dick and Harry that comes by gains a free access to them and treat them worse than the previous did them.

Being attractive is not only based on a physical need, it goes deeper than that — it drives deeper into your core as a woman.

DON'T FOCUS ON BEAUTY ALONE!

Dear lady;

Looking classy, exquisite, beautiful and confident in your skin is an amazing journey to embark on.

But, don't focus on being beautiful alone without filling your inward part with some amazing contents you can dish out to your world as a lady.

Do you know how great the fall is if you are perceived to be a very beautiful and classy woman but when you speak, many will run to cover their head from the bomb you are dropping from your mouth?

Be enough and confident in all areas, and not just your physical appearance alone.

How often do you brush up your social etiquettes?

Don't just focus on being the rich and classy chick alone; make sure you're not behind when it comes to being social as well, baby girl ❤️ 🦋

If, upon the dress that commands respect you're wearing with cool cash resting in your bank account, but you can't recite the National Anthem, or you can't confidently make use of cutleries in a public place — girl, that does not in any way speak of class.

I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH MY BIG THIGH!

Most ladies deal with inferiority complex behind the curtains and this is so heartbreaking.

Feeling inferior shouldn't be added to the load of emotional and different baggages that every lady face each passing day.

Some ladies are so concerned about how unattractive one part of their body is that it eventually crumbles their self esteem 😔

"My eyes are too big"

WHY WOULD YOU THINK I WOULD BLUSH? 🙄

Guys, let me gist you (I know you like anything that concern gist, that's why I'm here to download the latest for you 😂)

I boarded a bike with one man yesterday, I insisted that he stays in the middle while I stayed at the back — You can't imagine how he kept laughing and laughing about my insistence, he even tagged me "Last Born of The House" 😂

That the way I spoke is exactly how last horns talk — anyways, I busted his bubbles 🤣

My main focus for this gist was what he said during the journey:

He said — "You look so beautiful, baby girl"

I focused on the road ahead of me and did as if I did not hear anything — of course I heard nothinggg! 😂

I wasn't even moved by what he said, and I was sure that got him a bit upset because he asked.

"I told you that you are beautiful and you did not even smile or blush"

I took a glance at him and replied — "why would you think I would blush at your compliment?"

Abi e ma gbami keh 🙄

Why does he think I need his compliment to feel good or smile about my God given beauty?

If you and I have the same body structure, height, color and size, I hope you know that we will all be bored, right?

That's why you should be confident in your skin — in your self and what makes you YOU, that's where your uniqueness lies.

But, being confident in your skin starts with wearing things that suite your shape and size — what you're comfortable in, clothes that are not too tight or too big for you.

You can't expect yourself to show up confidently and with class when you can't even breathe properly in your outfit or you're gathering the excessive areas in your hands, or it's too short or too revealing.

That does not speak elegance of you as a lady of class.

Above all, you can't expect yourself to be confident in your skin when your sleeve is not doing proper justice to your outfit.

That's why you should have this knowledge in mind before you proceed to sew your next outfit; it is not all styles you see on Instagram that you'll replicate as it is.

There are some that you'll input some adjustments in order to suite your taste.

If you know you are a plus size, wearing sleeveless clothe is not advisable for you, because you may feel uncomfortable with how your arm may look.

But with a well defined sleeve that covers your arm, even though it is short sleeve — it's going to give you some level of confidence.
