CHECKMATE was an early 1991/1994 TV series/Soap Opera/Seasonal Movie that held millions of screen enthusiasts spellbound with its intrigue and suspense.
It was an unending different plots and twists.

Ann Haatrope (Ego Nnamani) returns to Lagos from America with her brother Richie (Bob-Manuel Udokwu) and realised the family's company is about to collapse due to mishandling by their other brother, Benny (Francis Agu).
Benny is also violent towards his wife, Tonye (Edyth-Jane Azu) who does not approve of her husband's siblings living under their roof.

Ann is determined to restore the company's reputation and beat competition from rivals like Segun Kadiri (RMD) who has a personal grudge against the Haaatrope company.

Ann's best friend, banker Ada Okereke (Mildred Iweka), is married to school teacher Nduka (Bimbo Manuel) but the couple face several problems including their class difference.

Womaniser, Chief Fuji (Kunle Bamtefa) a board member at Haastrope Investment and friend of Segun, is a head of a dysfunctional family. Fuji flaunts his status as a wealthy polygamist, but shuns his financial responsibilities.

Lecturer Edem (Zulu Adigwe/Norbert Young) is notorious for sleeping with his female students for in exchange for marks. wife Eno (Tammy Abusi) continues to support him, but frustrated. Their son Akpan (Tunde Euba) is a student at the university also ashamed of his father's antics and frustrated from defending him.

2) Igbo πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ Nigeria - The Igbos are undeniably known world wide. Chinua Achebe wrote about the Igbo culture alot. They are known for their history, culture and literature.

9) The Fulani - This nomadic tribes are known for their history and culture. They are predominantly in West Africa and are found in 18 African countries. Most In Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬
Popular Fulanis or people with Fulani ancestry are Muhammadu and Aisha Buhari, Tafawa Balewa, Anthony Anderson, India Arie, Peter John Gomes etc.

10) Berbers/Amazigh - They are predominantly found in North Africa. They are predominantly found in Morocco πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦ and Algeria πŸ‡©πŸ‡Ώ They known for their use of silver silver. Their culture and history well documented and have a unique language and writing system that traces back to ancient Egypt.
