On my way home from the market yesterday, I went to enter Bike.

Bike man - Where?

Me - Before motherless babies home.

Bike man - 1k

Me - Ah, 1k kwa? It’s motherless babies home here oh.

Bike man - I know na, no be syueygdy compound you dey go? I know you reach house, na you wey dey always do like say you no sabi me. Oya how much you wan pay?

Me - 700 abeg, na beg oh.

Bike man - No oh, leave am for that 1k, others will charge 1200 sef, price changed this morning.

I told him that I can’t afford to pay 1k and took some steps away from where he packed, I moved to the tarred road. I didn’t bother asking the bikemen around him if they’d go because they’d tell me to settle with him, as usual.

I stood not so far from him, another bike drove in and stopped in front of me. He asked where I’m going, I told him and he said it’s 700 naira. I didn’t price him, I entered asap.

The other bike man started cussing the two of us and saying he was still discussing price with me and this one just came and carried me, is he blind? Can’t he use his sense? I guess he thought I’d come back to beg him since he knows nobody else there will agree to carry me because I met him first, I think it’s their rule.

We zoomed off.
