‎Chief of Army staff relocates to Benue, vows to end daily ma$sacres by herdsmen

‎The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has relocated to Makurdi, the state capital, in a decisive move to end the bloodshed by armed herdsmen.

‎The COAS, accompanied by top officials from Army Headquarters, arrived from Abuja on Tuesday to assess the deteriorating security situation firsthand.

‎His visit comes in response to the wave of vi0lent attacks by suspected herdsmen and armed militias, which have left scores dead, several injured or maimed, and countless homes and farmlands destroyed.

‎He is expected to chair high-level strategic meetings with operational commanders in Benue, reviewing current military operations and charting a new course for restoring security in the embattled state.

‎While on ground, the COAS will visit troops at various operational bases, interact with officers, and boost their morale.

‎He is also slated to tour affected communities, sympathize with victims, and reassure residents of the army’s resolve to safeguard their lives and property.

‎Enugu State Govt Speaks Out After Arrest of Native Doctor Accused of Bur¥ing Victims Alive

‎According to a report by Premium Times, the Enugu State Government has vowed to ensure that justice is served following the arrest of a native doctor, Levi Onyeka Obieze Obu, who is accused of burying several people alive in a sewage pit in Umumba Ndiagu, a community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

‎The horrifying incident, which occurred on Monday, allegedly included the burial of a pregnant woman and is believed to be tied to ritual practices.

‎Levi Obu, who is widely known by the aliases “Ozo Ezeani” and “E dey play E dey show,” was arrested on Wednesday by personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Badagry-Seme border area of Lagos State.

‎Reacting to the arrest, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia, expressed the government’s appreciation to the NIS officers for their swift and effective action.

‎In an official statement issued, Onyia described the suspect as a “fugitive suspected kidnap kingpin and ritualist,” and emphasized the government's determination to ensure full prosecution.

‎“This arrest has further strengthened our hands in our bid to ensure that justice is served on all the persons involved in the gory incidents of abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killings linked to the suspect,” Onyia stated.

‎He also revealed that the Enugu State Government had demolished all buildings belonging to the suspect, acting under the provisions of Section 315 (Second Amendment) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 30, Laws of Enugu State.

‎This move, he said, was part of broader efforts to send a strong message against ritual-related crimes and restore public confidence in law enforcement.

‎Onitsha building materials Traders Protest Over Security Agencies Extortion, Plot To Relocate Them

‎Traders of Onitsha Building Materials Traders’ Association/Allied Products Dealers Association, Bridge head market, Anambra State, took to the major roads in protest against alleged Navy, Special Anti-Touting Squad, SASA, Ocha Brigade ,police and Udo Ga Achi Vigilante operatives including plot by 8 Market Unions Nteje, to relocate them from their market.

‎The protesters, some of who carried placards with the inscription,
“Gov. Soludo rescue us from extortion by Navy, police, SASA, Ocha Brigade, Udo Ga Achi vigilante group"
"we are not part of 8 market Union Nteje"
"Nteje market Union wants to relocate us"
"Gov. Soludo we hope on you to rescue us" "Nteje market is personal market, we are part and parcel of Bridge head market"
"our market is not among those to move to Nteje,” among others.

‎Addressing newsmen during the protest, the chairman of Onitsha Building Materials Traders’ Association, OBMTA, Chief Chikodili Ejiofor, lamented that the accused security operatives barricaded the entry and exit Uga road leading to their market despite the fact that they are not part of the Onitsha Ogbogwu (drug) market shut by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.

‎He said, “Today we resolve to have a peaceful protest against the extortion of our members by Navy, Police, SASA, Ocha Brigade,Udo Ga Achi, and others. They barricaded the Uga road that leads to our market and if you want to pass with your wares you will be forced to pay #250,000, #350,000, #200,000, it depends on how you bargain with them but not less than #200,000. Because they barricaded the road we lost our customers"

"‎They are doing all these to frustrate us because they are being sponsored by the 8 Market Union Nteje who want us to join them by force. As it is now, the members of the 8 market Union have parked out to Nteje but still they want us to join them."

‎“We don’t

‎I was assau!ted by a DSS Operative in Lagos — Nnamdi Kanu Breaks Silence in the Courtroom

‎In a dramatic turn during his resumed terrorism trial, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, made a startling revelation in the courtroom on Wednesday. Speaking under oath during a trial-within-trial session, Kanu declared, "He was struck by a DSS operative"—breaking his long-held silence on the conditions of his arrest and detention.

‎According to a report by Punch News, Kanu told the Federal High Court in Abuja that he was assaulted by a Department of State Services (DSS) officer when he was apprehended in Lagos in 2015. He noted, however, that the same officer later apologized while they were en route to Abuja through the airport.

‎In response, the DSS denied all allegations of coercion or mistreatment. A DSS operative, identified by the codename Mr CCC, testified that Kanu was given what he called “presidential treatment” in custody, dismissing the claims of physical assault and intimidation.

BREAKING NEWS: US suspends student visa interviews .

The US government has suspended the scheduling of new interviews for student visa applicants worldwide as it considers strict vetting of applicants’ social media profiles.

The directive was issued by the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in a cable sent out to diplomats worldwide on Tuesday, according to Politico.

This means that US embassies in Nigeria and many other countries will stop setting up new interview appointments for people who want to apply for student visas, such as the F-1 visa.

Although this is only temporary, during this period, no new applicants will be able to schedule an interview, which is a required step in the student visa process.

Mr Rubio, however, ordered that interviews that have already been scheduled can proceed.
