LAUTECH football team is unbeatable
LAUTECH's is numero uno football team in Oyo tertiary Institutions
The football team of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has proved its indomitability during a football competition organized for all tertiary Institutions in the Pacesetter State.
Demonstrating that it is not just the leader in academics, the team remained unbeatable in all its features while the tournament, organized in commemoration of the International Students' Day 2022, by the office of the Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Students Affairs in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus of Oyo State, lasted.
The LAUTECH team, had locked horn with not fewer than fourteen other institutions which participated in the competition.
Other Institutions whose team took part in the tournament included:
Institute of Agriculture Research and Training, Moore Plantation, Ibadan.
The Polytechnic of Ibadan, Ibadan,
Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igbo-Ora.
Teams from the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan,
Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo,
University of Ibadan, Ibadan,
Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa,
Federal School of Surveying, Oyo,
Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan,
Atiba University, Oyo, also participated.
Institutions such as Kola Daisi University, Ibadan, School of Nursing, Ibadan,
Cooperative College, Ibadan,
Oyo State College of Education, Lalate, also featured.
The matches which were on a straight knockout bases, saw LAUTECH showing undiminished class all through.
Its first match against the Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igbo-Ora, was a walk over.
Its second Match (Quarter Final), against the Polytechnic, Ibadan team was 2:1 in its favor, while it walloped the Institute of Agriculture Research and Training, Moore Plantation, Ibadan, 4:0 in its third match (Semi Final).
The team again went for the kill in its fourth and final match when it dealt a devastating blow on the team of the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan, closing the stadium in a 2:1 encounter to win gold.
The University's Acting Director of Sports, Mrs. Dorcas Olaosebikan, while singling out the Chairman of the Institution's Sports Council, Professor Jide Ajao, for praises, said some of the players who had to travel down on their own to venues of the matches after writing their tests, demonstrated high level of commitment.
She recommended that Management compensates the twenty (20) members of the team.
Olaosebikan also gave kudos to all staff of the University's sports unit.
