Reflecting On The Biting Cost Of Living In Abraka

There is a story on the lips of the children and adults; it is on the lips of the youths and the aged; the men and women; indigenes and non-indigenes- a story all Abraka residents have to tell. It is the story of the high cost of living.

This challenge has found itself a throne in the Abraka community wherein the Delta State University sits. A bag of sachet water has risen to #350. Transport fare within and outside campus has doubled. The price of petrol has skyrocketed. In short, the cost of living in Abraka relentlessly slopes upwards, leaving little or no room for residents to adjust.

OPINION: The Fortuities Of WhatsApp Deletion Among Youths

WhatsApp is one of the pedestrian media of mobile interaction and a popular social media platform that is cheaper, and easily accessible, with comprehensive features and uniqueness, among others. Many people prefer WhatsApp because the media’s global presence as it is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is circumscribed, as the people connected in WhatsApp are informal, easily identified and accessible.

Spitefully, many WhatsApp users have lost interest and precedence by disregarding their adept communication attitude in this media platform because of pressure, random monetary demands, relationship ties and relative criticisms from communal circles as well as panamiga. Read more 👇

WEEKEND POLITICS: Military Now Bed of Roses?

It is believed that the military regime has done more good than damage to Nigeria, and even performed better than any other form of government since its inception in Africa as a whole.

The first of its kind in Africa was in Egypt, on July 23, 1952, when King Farouk was overthrown by Abdel Gamal Nasser and Mohammed Naguib, while the first in West Africa was in Togo on January 13, 1963, when President Sylvanus Olympio was killed. Nigeria was not left out as it recorded its first military coup on January 15, 1966, putting an end to the first republican government. Read more 👇
