Documentary: My Tajweed Discovery

Meet Abdul-Muiz, a dedicated part-time student at AQOC Kiddies. He attends classes only during his school holidays, making the most of his holiday to progress in his Quranic and Islamic studies.
The last time he was in class with us at AQOC Kiddies was since last year November or so (if I'm not mistaken) with few chapters left to complete the memorization of Juz'u Amma.
I remember the joint Murojaah class of an Hizb from Juz'u Amma then he held together with the Full time kids.
However, recently, as soon as he completed his exams, his mother called me:
"Ustaadh, Abdul-Muiz just completed his exams last week and I would like him to be equipped and occupied with his Qur'ān/Islamic classes before he resumes to school again".
We discussed and agreed on the days and time for class and the Commitment Fees and we started the following week.
After approximately 10 days in class, I'm thrilled to share Abdul-Muiz's remarkable progress. He has not only completed and revised the hifdh of Juz'u Amma but also successfully memorized Surah Tabaarokah and significant number from the Hadīth of the Prophet.
As at time of submitting this video, he had Memorized just 12 Hadīth. But now he has memorized up to 28. Allahumma Baarik Feeh.
Play the video, learn some of the teachings of the Prophet.

What is Istiaadha?
What is Al-Basmalah?
Do you know the various ways of reciting Istiaadha, Basmalah and first verse of a Surah?
Check it out from one of the students at AQOC Kiddies as she presents during one of their lesson sessions in Tajweed class.

While I was taking Su'ud this Hadīth this evening, it reminded me of the exact moment when I sat in the same room in Minna, teaching our pioneering kids at AQOC who have been able memorized up to 60 Hadith.
I am truly amazed by the progress of Su'ud and his siblings in class. We covered the 10th Hadith and 10th Adhkaar from Hisnul Muslim.
This Hadīth class brought back memories of teaching the same Hadīth 10 to our pioneering kids at AQOC last year in Minna, in the same room and sitting position. It brought a smile to my face, and I couldn't help but thank Allah for their remarkable progress. Within just a few weeks, they have covered a substantial amount of material in class, alongside their other subjects.
May Allah continue to make their journey easy for them and bless their parents for their support in raising these kids Islamically.

"𝗨𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗵. 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆. 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆 ☺️.
I have actually gotten a lot of gists to share with you from virtually all our departments at AQOC
But then...I really hope I was chanced to share them ALL with you.
Lol.
There are these particular 2 from our Kiddies Session.
Every time I remember them, I can't just help laughing 😃😃
Kids are kinda lovely. And I guess, I, teaching them is kinda more LIVELY and LOVELY 🤩
May Allah bless our kids.
Lol.
There is this one of our new kid students, who out of 30 minutes class she wants to have with me, she would almost want to use 15 to 20 minutes of it to want to tell me something.
"Ustadh, I want to tell you something."
"Ustadh, I want to tell you something"
Me: (shake my head and smile) again?! Lol. OK. Go ahead.
And then, she would pour out her mind and I would patiently listen to everything. 😂
After telling me something then we would proceed with the lesson.
Then, few minutes later she has got another gist to share with me.
😆 🤩😆😆
Her elder brother on the other hand is calm and straightforward in class. He would always be like:
"Would you just pls read what Ustadh asked you to read and stop telling him something all the time!" Lol 😆😆
The funniest thing is that after telling me so many things then she would want the class to end:
Ustadh. I'm tired 😩. Are we not through yet?
I will be like: Through keh?! Almost done. But let's quickly go through this.
Lol. Very funny and lively girl.
But trust me. I do ensure we cover every necessary lesson perfectly for the day during the course of the gist-gist and before she finally gets tired.
وابتغ فيما آتاك الله الدار الآخرة ولا تنس نصيبك من الدنيا
Lol...
So today, during the course of the class, I asked her to let us cover the lesson we had for

At the Adhkaar Class with the kids at AQOC Kiddies Session yesterday, we learnt the دعاء لبس الثوب الجديد Prayer when putting on a new clothe.
اللهم لك الحمد أنت كسوتنيه أسألك من خيره وخير ما صنع له وأعوذ بك من شره وشر ما صنع له
Meaning: "O Allah, to You belong all praise. You have clothed me with this cloth. I ask You of the goodness in this clothe and the goodness it is made of. And I equally seek your protection from the evil in this clothe and the evil it is made of."
After memorizing the Adhkaar, I let the kids realized (I hope they really understood) the importance of saying this Adhkaar when they have a new clothe for themselves; and by extension when they buy any new items.
The mothers of the kids are also with the kids. They are always with them whenever they are having their class. In fact, it is more or less a class with them as well to ensure decorum and maximal effectivity of the class. May Allah bless them.
I asked them (the mothers) to always ensure that their kids put all the Adhkaar they have memorized and would memorize into practice appropriately.
I made them realize the importance of saying praying over not only newly bought clothes but also on other items by extension that we get for ourselves and asking ALLAH's Blessings on them.
And I gave them 1 or 2 personal experience on how Allah really and usually answer the prayer.
"One of the ways Allah used to enrich and his servant is to bless their items, things and undertakings for them"
I asked them to always ask Allah 3 things:
To set, ease and bless their affairs always.
It was a brief lecture for the parents of the kids even though I never prepared or intended that before.
May Allah continue to set, ease and bless our affairs.

Abdul Muiz is one of my good kid students of AQOC. He is offering the Qur'ān Memorization Course. He is memorizing Juz'u Amma and has memorized up to Surah Al-Fajr 89.
However, late October, his mum requested him to take a break for a while from class and focused on his school activities which were then affecting the consistency of his Qur'ān class.
"He will resume after the school vacation". His mum requested.
Yesterday, 14th Dec. 2022, his mum informed me he had completed his school exam and would like him to resume his memorization class the next day.
Today, Abdul-Muiz resumed his class, he was asked to revise/submit all his previous memorization i.e Surah Amma to Surah Al-Fajr. And he was able to successfully do that. Máa Sha Allah. Alhamdulilah.
I'm glad to have Abdul-Muiz back to class. I told him if not for the break he took in class, he would definitely have completed the hifdh of Juz'u Amma since and I would definitely have selected him to represent AQOC in a virtual Qur'ān Competition organized by Al-Itqan Institute coming up very soon.
May Allah continue to bless AQOC and its students.
Aamin.

Because I was in the field (Geologic Field Mapping), I couldn't have a live class with the kids. I informed their mother and she understood.
They were having Hadīth. So I asked them to submit all the 32 Hadīth they have memorized to me on WhatsApp. I would assess them as soon as I'm chanced.
Listening to their submission late last night ago gave me goosebumps. I was super glad.
Allahumma Baarik fee him.
Despite my being their tutor, Saskia, my head still swole big 🥰🥰
I was deeply impressed.
May Allah bless the kids both and bless their parents too, their mother in particular for the parental support she gives to us in the Islamic upbringing of the kids.
Dear Mother, may the efforts not be in vain. May He make the knowledge beneficial to them in this world and the one to come. Aamin.
Dear Mother,, may the efforts not be in vain. May He make the knowledge a benefit to them, admin.
Virtual Islamiyya/Madrasah for the kids is lovely and interesting when the parents or guardians are supportive.
May Allah bless our wards.

AQOC: Tahfeedh
Alhamdulillah, amidst different challenges, the students are progressing.
2 weeks ago, sister Aaisha from the Advance Tahfidh Class completed the hifdh and Murojaah of her 09th Juz'u. She wrote the Juz'u exam and scored 98%!
Last week, Abu Khalid of the same Advance Level (Private Option) also completed his hifdh & Murojaah of his 10th Juz'u (from Amma - Juz'u Naml).
That is approximately 200pages he has memorized. He will be doing his Juz'u Exam soon.
From the Beginners Level, last week, Mr. Jimoh completed his 5th Juz'u (Ahqaf) of memorization. He is presently submitting his Muroj'ah.
His wife is also pretty doing well. She would be completing the 3rd Juz'u soon.
Allahumma Baarik feehim.
People are moving and growing Deen-wise, it is only you that has decided to remain on the same spot!
This is how 2022 just like previous years will end without you becoming a Qur'ān literate or better your proficiency of it!
It is over 3 years now that you've been memorizing Juz'u Tabaarokah! And this year will again end, without any development!
You keep on acquiring different skills, venturing into different businesses (which is not bad). You keep bettering your life Dunyah-wise but chose to remain stagnant Deen-wise. Only if you knew, the REAL treasure is the one you've chosen to denigrate and given no regards.
الدين رأس المال فأستمسك به ## فضياعه من أعظم الخسران
The Deen is the greatest treasure; so hold unto it. The loss of it is the greatest of losses.

We couldn't have the Live Muroj'aah on Wednesday as proposed. I had a network issue. Before I got it resolved around 9:30pm, sleep had carried Nusaybah away 😅. By the time she woke up, time had gone. So we postponed the session till yesterday.
Alhamdulillah. We had it yesterday
. Juz'u Ahqof was soundly revised. It was a wholesome experience beautiful experience with AQOC awesome students like: 👉
1. Nusaybah Adewale .
2. Busayri Zaytun
3. Faruq Jimoh
4. Aminu Uthman Olalekan
5. Lawal Uthman
And my able self: Hamzat Usman
🤗
So we had 3 adorable Uthmans in the session.....
Allahumma Baarik 💪
Here is an excerpt from the video. (The app I used to produce the video couldn't process the close to 1 hour video completely).
Tonight, we are moving to Juz'u Dhaariyaat... May Allah make it easy.
Hopefully tonight's session is going to be more interesting as 2 students from our Advance Tahfidh Program: our mother, Dr. (Mrs.) Zulaikha and the upcoming young doctor Aaisha' too are going to attend. Máa sha Allah!
They are preparing already.

Alhamdulillah.
Sister Abdul-Wahid Khadijah of AQOC Tahfidh (Beginners) just held Juz'u Exam of Juz'u Tabaarokah. She came out with an outstanding performance of 💯/💯.
Right now, I feel like gifting her a Million Naira Gaskia. The performance was highly impressive, Wallohi!
After the exam, I couldn't help but to tell her how happy I was. I just kept smiling and for minutes showing how happy I was.
My Precious can testify, I was SPECIALLY happy🤗.
I really used to find it difficult to hold my happiness unexpressed when I am caused to be happy. I will just keep praying deeply from my heart for the individual especially if he/she is my student.
Lord! Pls bless Khadijah. Do not deny her the reward. Bless her with the courage to keep it up and make subsequent Ajzaau an easy one too!
May He make it easy for other students too.
I intentionally threw her some seemingly difficult passages in Juz'u Tabaarokah and she confidently dished them out with ease!
The below is the video recording of the examination conducted.
Allahumma Baarik Feehaa 🤲

Most Madaris or Ustaadhs are often ONLY concerned about the Memorization of Hadīths/Mutoon/Quran by the kids. But I'm of the opinion that as the Memorization is being taught and monitored, the meanings and lessons in whatever in the Qur'ān, Hadīth, Mutoon or whatever is being memorized should be taught along.
The primary reason why Muslim parents take their wards to Islamiyya/Ile-kewu is for them to be (islamically which they understand to be) morally equiped and upright.
However, this objective was not able to be achieved simply because, most Modaaris and Ustaadhs today, focus majorly on their students' eloquent reading and sound memorization with little zero concern of their moral upright.
This is why you see all around us, many Muslim students (who are even probably in higher class) in Modrasah/Islamiyya, children attending a Qur'ān Memorization school (some would have become hufaadh already), yet with the most heinous and despicable character you could ever think of!.
When they read the Qur'ān for you, you would be awed at their eloquent and melodious recitation. When they relate sharia texts; hadith , Mutoon for you, you will "Maa sha Allah" their sound memorization. Yet, they are the one you will find not minding their 5 daily Solat. They are the ones you will find listening and dancing to evil music. They are the one you will find totally bankrupt of every social moral and spiritual ethics you could ever Remember.
Then you begin to imagine what they are being taught in Madrasa!
Madrasah student involved in a boy-girl friend relationship!
To return this menace to normalcy, the Modaris and Ustaadhs have got to set their priorities right by putting similar effort they put in monitoring the students' Memorization to teaching them morals in the lessons they are being taught. Much effort should be put in making them have understanding of the lessons and at the same time, putting them into practice. It is only by then that the attendance of Modrasah
During the "Your next Muroja'ah, anywhere you made a mistake that is where you would be asked to stop and would be your new place of memorization. You know you're already in Surah Al-Mutoffefeen? If during the live Murojah Session next week as you made a mistake in Surah An-Naaziat for instance (as you made today), surah An-Naaziat would be your adopted new place of Memorization instead of Mutoffifeen. Is that clear?". I threatened the kid.
"If you don't want me to bring you back, then you should learn to perfect your Muroj'aah!".
Then, I taught him how to do Muroj'ah. How to build a solid connection between previous and newly memorized verses.
The following Muroj'ah Session, he submitted this. (Watch video)
I was happy!
He was happy! (You will see the smiles on his face, throughout)
His mummy was happy!
We were all happy!
That's it. I don't actually know of what brings happiness to the face of a student of Qur'ān memorization than seeing himself reeling off his Memorization with ease, with full confidence and with little or no glitch. May Allah make the Qur'ān easy for us.
As a reward and a kind of commendation, I asked his mum to gift him a SPECIAL GIFT which she happily did.
Alhamdulillah.
Check the video below and see if he deserved the gift or not.

"𝗡𝗼. 𝗨𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗵, 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗱!"
Approximately 2 months ago, it was the Mid-Term Test at AQOC Kiddies Session. The subject was Hadīth. They held Qur'ān earlier with their tutor.
In the Exam hall, the kids were asked to recite all the ahadith they have memorized since the beginning of the term from memory.
Ibrahim, my friend and the younger of the kids could recite the content of every ahadith but he found it quite difficult to arrange them in the order they had been taught. After the 1st 2 Hadīths, I had to keep giving him a tip on every next hadith till he recited the last one.
"Bàarokalloh Feek Ibrahim" I remarked.
"No. Ustadh, but I know I did very bad!" He sadly replied.
Conversely, Ilhaam, the elder, in no time reeled off all the ahadith excellently and orderly. Baàrokalloh Feehaa. (Watch Video)
My friend thought he did very bad. But I knew he did really try. He is younger, yet to be able to recite Arabic Wordings fluently on his own, didn't know he would be asked to recite orderly. He tried. But surely, he could do better.
I knew where the problem came from and we are already working on it.
By our next class, which marks the end of lesson for the term, the kids would have memorized a total of 20 ahadith and draw out important lesson from each of them.
I hope that not only Ilhaam but also my friend did excellently well in the Terminal Examination.
Baàrokalloh fee Ibrahim wa bàarokalloh fee Ilhaam.

Nusaybah is a kin lover of the Qur'ān.
Allah has assisted her to previously memorized up to 5 Juz'us of the Qur'ān before. But she cannot confidently lay bold claim of this. As she seems to have practically forgotten most of the memorization due to one factor or the other.
Nusaybah wanted to further in her memorization. But she felt the need to thoroughly revise the previously memorized 5 Juzu's first before she moved on.
Meanwhile, Nusaybah has been an akin follower of AQOC What'sApp Status and general broadcast right from last year.
She had made enquiries about AQOC Qur'ān classes time without numbers.
But she couldn't just apply!
2 weeks ago, she made up her mind and decided to finally enroll at AQOC. She obtained the registration form, paid her commitment fee and started immediately.
She started from Ahqof (the 5th Juz'u). And she has practically been doing fine.
Alhamdulillah. Upon the completion of the revision/re-memorization of Juz'u Ahqof, an examination was conducted for Nusaybah and she came out with an excellent result. 💪
In her words. It hasn't been easy.
"But Allahmdulillah I was able to continuing being on track due to monitoring."
The video below is an excerpt from her examination session. Baàrokalloh Feehaa.
May Allah continue to make it easy for Nusaybah.
Be determined. Take the bold step 🦶.
Be like Nusaybah!

Lol.🥰
Teaching the kids is always full of fun and beautiful moments. Only that their "ijongbon" and stubbornness at times can make you to become tired of life. Lol.
But not everyone can handle the kids, sha. However, whosoever Allah has blessed with the qualities of teachings the kids can relate. The love, affection, respect is always sincere unlike in taking the adults which there can be some traces of insincerity. For instance, an adult you're teaching something may be according some respects to you, however, as soon as he gets what he wants from you completely, phew respect is gone. All the "pepefurus" is for a purpose.
This is why I am never freaked by the "Yes sirs" "Eees (of respect)" coming from an adult or elderly students to me.
I don't let those things get to my head. I just do my things.
Though, some might be sincere, anyway.
Unlike in the kids, their love, play, affection, respect and bond with their fond tutors are 💯 out of innocence and sincerity.
Anyway, that's not what I intend to write about.
I wanted to feed you a brief from AQOC Kiddies Session, the Hadith Class:
The kids have memorized hadith 11&12. Just the explanation remained.
So I explained Hadith Number 11 to the kids, telling them on the 5 rights of a Muslim over another Muslim.
So when I got to the last rights mentioned in the hadith which is to greet a fellow Muslim who sneezes and says Alhamdulillah, I used the opportunity to teach them some of the etiquettes of sneezing.
• cover your mouth with your hands, handkerchief or piece of clothes, lower your voice and prevent the spread of the mucus.
• Say Alhamdulillah after sneezing.
•Greet the one who sneezes saying: "Yarhamukkalloh" (May Allah have mercy on you).
• Respond to greeting by saying: "Yahdikumulloh Wa yuslihu Balaqum" (May Allah guide you and set your affairs.)
I demonstrated this to the kids.
"Assalamualaikum Ustadh. The Yarhamukkalloh, meaning may Allah have mercy on you, is it the same
"𝙎𝙞𝙧, 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙌𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙢𝙚. 𝙊𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙃𝙚𝙟𝙖𝙗!."
She has been in the Religion for close to a decade but doesn't know how to read the Qur'ān.
She felt very ashamed of herself.
She couldn't wait to enroll in a Qur'ān institute.
She came across AQOC and some of our works on Facebook and tried to get herself enrolled.
But AQOC is a paid her class and she doesn't have the financial capacity. She informed me of her plight and I told her. I will try and get her a sponsor. She shouldn't worry.
I assured her that bi idhnillah, in the next 3 months she would be able to read the Quran on her own.
She was very happy.🤗
Alhamdulillah, we got a sponsor. (May Allah reward her abundantly). And she started the Tah'jeeha Course 2 days ago after necessary registration.
She is on a private/personal tutorship (as the group/general admission is off for now).
Baàrokalloh Feehaa.
Hopefully in the next 8/12 weeks bi idhnillah, it is her beautiful and independent Qur'ān recitation I will be sharing with you.
May Allah assist and make it easy.
The zeal is high and the commitment is strong. Pls help me pray to Allah to grant her steadfastness and consistency.🙏
