I had a very interesting Class Session with AQOC Kiddies Students yesterday. It was so great, lovely and awesome.

It was a Conference Class with all the Kid students at AQOC. All of the students except my british girl wasn't present as her sister which she often uses her gadget wasn't around.

The kids, their parents and MYSELF enjoyed the Session.

I think I enjoyed it MOST. Alhamdulilah.

Earlier this morning, I was going through some video recordings of the interesting Session, I couldn't help but to embark on the editing.

That's how I finally spent the COMPLETE half of my day editing video ooo.... Both of my eyes are weary as I type. Gbogbo ojú lo n ta mi gidigan bayi....

Seriously, I started around 8:30am or so it was only Dhur solat at 2 then the senior kids class at 2:30 that stopped me!

√ Lovely Meet & Greet Session by the kids

√ Highly educative and inspirational lecture by the guest Lecturer

√ Amazing, motivating, lovely presentations by the kids

√ Wonderful contributions from the parents

Precious, you missed😃

Special thanks to Mal. Hassan Ibrahim Muhammad for the great lecture, my lovely friend, sheikh Uthman Aminu for the skilful moderation of the Program and our awesome parents for their supports.

It wouldn't have been possible and that interesting without you after Allāh's Leave. Thank you all.

AQOC Kiddies

In the last Fiqh class with the senior kid students at AQOC I explained and practically demonstrated how Ablution is performed. This was after learning about what exactly is Ablution; its Ruling with textural proofs, its Faraaid (obligation) and Sunnan.

So after the presentation, I gave a recap/summary of what had been taught then asked if they've got any question which they replied the lesson was well understood, that they had no question.

Then I told them I was to give them an assignment. But before I spelt out their assignment, one of the kids cut in with smiles and said:

"Within so so minutes, make a video presentation of yourself performing and explaining how to perform Ablution" 🥰

The kid was right. It was an accurate prediction. ✔️

So I was like: "what?! That's right! How did you know that's gonna be the Assignment?"

And we all laughed.

I only added the duration range of their video and the submission deadline.

I'm happy at the smartness of the kids and at the fact that they now know the teaching methodology of their tutor and can easily adopt the same when they're to teach or take others.
God bless them. They can easily predict their likely exam questions too when they have one.

And that's how smart student is, when his teacher teaches, he doesn't only learn the lesson he takes him but also his teaching style, composition, manner and so many other passive knowledge.

This made me remember how I see the REPLICA OF MYSELF TEACHING everytime I ask my friend then student, Uthman to stand in for me when I'm unavailable in taking some lower classes at AQOC.

And I always develop a kind of lovely and joyful feeling within me.

May Allah continue to grant us beneficial knowledge.

The senior and pioneering students of AQOC Kiddies commenced their 02nd Term Examination on Wednesday.

And yesterday, around 8:00am Nigeria Time, I conducted and supervised their Hadīth Exam.

My student, Ilhaam proficiently recited EIGHTY-TWO (82) HADĪTH with their narrators and reporters FROM MEMORY for approximately 29 minutes unstopping!

The other was able to read 40 out of 50+ learnt Hadīth.

Allahu Akbar!

May Allah continue to bless the kids, their parents and we their tutors.

Smiles 😀😀

In early 2020, I recognized a critical issue regarding Quranic literacy, especially among Muslim women. To address this challenge and provide a global solution, I felt a calling from Allah to teach the Quran online, from basics to advanced knowledge, accessible to everyone, regardless of their location.

To gauge interest and validate the problem, I shared my thought on social media platform on this. I received an overwhelming response from individuals eager to learn.

I made it clear that the classes wouldn't be entirely free, but the commitment fees would be reasonable, bi idhnillah.

The problem was evident, so I began developing course materials for what I named "Tahj'eeh - Spellings."

The course (which is now 12 weeks Duration) was nitially 8 weeks, with a commitment fee of ₦1,000 or ₦1,500, if memory serves me right.

However, despite daily advertising on my social media, for approximately ONE month, only ONE person, my friend Olasupo Aminat Adeola , registered. And I started with her on the commencement date I stated.

Our classes were held from 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

With dedication, she progressed in her Quranic reading, and we even started Tajweed classes. She commenced her Hifdh too after Tajweed before she later became extremely busy and had to take a temporary leave.

*Today, I have students from Nigeria and beyond, all learning this course and its derivatives, and I am being compensated in 5-6 figures!*

A similar story is unfolding in my current Webinar/Course on Starting a Thriving Online Quran School. I identified the problem, and many people approached me about it. I decided to organize a course or webinar, promising to passionately share all my "secrets" and over 3 years of experience.

Over 200 individuals, including friends and colleagues, expressed interest. I explained that it wouldn't be entirely free; they would need to pay a token of ₦3,500 to cover the effort I invested in preparing the course content. While I'd share my knowledge and experience for free, this token was for commitment.

For one month, only two people paid, and just one attended the live webinar (my wife joined after my call). I even invited AQOC tutors for free, but none joined!

Did this discourage my passion and willingness to share knowledge?

Absolutely not! I poured my heart out during the last session, and I'm confident the two participants gained valuable insights.

I aim to provide value, not merely fill pockets, but I give values to those who prove themselves deserving of it

What I offer almost freely today will be worth six figures or more in the near future, either for you or those who understand its value.

The webinar continues tonight. You can pay ₦3,500 now or ₦5,000 later for the recordings which will be available after tonight's session.

The decision is yours.

Make Payment to 9035573621 | Opay | with evidence sent to me (on 9035573621 What'sApp) for webinar access.

So a kid student at AQOC Kiddies asked me about the "EL-JEE-BEE-TEE-Q" today!

"Ustadh, sir, I've got a question for you" demanded the elder of the 2 kids.

"Oh, really? OK. Go ahead. But you know we still have one more subject to take and we only have limited time left. But no problem. Go ahead with your question." I asked her.

What was her Question? What prompted the question? Was I surprised such a young mind could know ask such a question? What was my response?
.... It's really an interesting Session.

I would write about it later, in sha Allah
It's Dhur here.

READ THIS

It was time for Maghrib, and none of the Imāms was around. So, the congregants appointed one of them to lead the Salāt. They assumed albeit wrongly that with thick beards and above the ankle length trouser, he was qualified for the role. How wrong were they!!!

I entered the Masjid just as he pronounced the takbīratu'l-Ihrām. As soon as he recited the first verse in Fātiha, I knew there was a problem. الحمد was read as الأمد, and العالمين was read as العلمين. I was boiling inside but kept my cool.

Suddenly, a voice was heard correcting the Imām. A brother who could no longer hold his frustration turned the Salāt to a Qur'ān recitation competition exercise. Unfortunately, the more he tried to correct him, the more he kept repeating the same thing until there was a commotion.

The congregants had had enough of both of them, but especially of the man correcting the Imām. A couple of them spoke out, telling him to keep quiet and allow them to concentrate on Salāt. Angered by their reactions, he also fired back, and hell was let loose.

The Salāt was 'dabarued', and I had to step in, firstly, to calm all nerves, and secondly, to address the issue. Incidentally, the Imām entered while I was calming everyone down, and he led the Salāt.

One important point that I made to the man trying to correct the Imām is that it is NOT every mistake in recitation that should be corrected. Otherwise, there would be chaos.

The following mistakes in recitation are pardonable:

▪︎ Mistakes that are due to the general nature of a people. For instance, the average Yoruba person pronounces ء، ع، ح، ه in the same way and do not pronounce ذ and ز or س and ش differently. One may have a hard time correcting such a person;

▪︎ Mistakes that are due to deficiency in the reciter, such as if he has the 'r factor' or thereabouts;

▪︎ Mistakes that do NOT change the meanings of the Qur'ān, especially if made in a Sūrah other than Fātiha;

▪︎ Mistakes in application of basic and extensive rules of Tajwīd. You can't correct an Imām for idgām, ikhfā', or gunna.

In examining the case of our emergency Imām, I realised that he was influenced by the nature of his society and upbringing. Prior to the proliferation of Tajwīd teachers, we passed through a system of Qur'ān teaching that doesn't emphasise proper pronunciation of letters. ع was pronounced in the same way as ء, and so on and so forth.

It's important for every Muslim to learn the basic rules of Qur'ān recitation. It's also important to know when and where to apply the basic rules of Isamic Jurisprudence so that you won't be misapplying Fatwah.

And, Lest I forget, our Arabiyaah Students completed Part 01 of the Durusul Lugottil Arabiyaah book already.
And I can boast that each of these set of students can CONFIDENTLY teach it to others as well. What am I even saying? When I was on break from taking classes in August-September, my Personal Arabiyah Student, Uthman who's advanced in the course stood in for me and CONFIDENTLY and COMPETENTLY took the class.

When I listened and watched some of his teaching I saw a replica of myself in class. I was just smiling 😊.

Lol.
What I love most about AQOC is its remarkable emulation of a traditional brick-and-mortar classroom. As the Institute's Director, I am yet to encounter any aspect, whether it be activities or other facets, of physical institutes that AQOC doesn't faithfully replicate. The Institute's active students can also attest to this. Allahumma Baarik Feenaa.

Now, let me share a delightful incident from last night 😃

Over the past 2-3 weeks, the AQOC Arabiyaah, Level 2 classes had been suffering from low attendance. However, their Mid-term Test was scheduled to start last night.

I dropped their questions. As soon as it was submission time, suddenly, all the students who had been relatively inactive started inundating my DM, submitting their work!

I was astounded to see such a significant number of students actively engaged.

It brought back memories of the experiences we used to have in physical Institutes (Universities) where the turnout for tests or exam when there's one often exceed that of the regular number of students the lecturer usually thinks he has.

I just held a lovely, lively, healthy, highly Interactive session with my Kid Students at AQOC Kiddies, not long ago.

We did the Tajweed. I explained the Concept of Al-Idgaam: Meaning, types, examples, theoretic Analysis and practical demonstration.

Now the Kids are getting to understand the wisdom behind some of the corrections I used to make in their presentation in Hifdh, Qur'ān Memorization class.

I was happy, still happy and the kids were happy. God bless the Kids and God bless me.

Lastly, if I may advise you: strive to acquire the knowledge of this Qur'ān even if it will cost you hundreds of trillions of dollars to do so. But with one thing: with the intention of putting its teachings and lessons into practise.
Parents, cause your children to learn the Qur'ān and its teachings and assist them to put it into practise. It is the GREATEST TREASURE you can gift to them and which you will continue to reap and enjoy from, even after your demise.

الحمدلله على نعمة الاسلام 🙏

Allah has revealed the Qur'ān and Sunnah as a guide and manual to live a fulfilling, happy and succesful life. The more we adhere to its teachings and guidance, the more peaceful and lovely we will live.

By Allah, the main cause of our panic, restlessness and sad living is our disconnection and detachment from the Teachings and guidance of the Qur'ān.
The heart which seeks life guidance from other than the Qur'ān may never know peace.

A family, a couple which Allah grants the understanding of the earlier quoted aayat and the readiness to put the Teachings into practise has has gotten 99.9% of their present and future financial crisis solved.

But as I said earlier, the genesis of the crises we are facing in life is our abandonment and turning away from the guidance of the Qur'ān, we want to device our own manual and way of life so we find ourselves in messes.

And the truth? There is no single solution to these crises other than returning to the manual and teachings of the Qur'ān. In that, is real and everlasting peace! This is because Allah is the one who created us and the life and the one who gave us the manual to succesfully and live through it. Do we think we can devise a life manual that can be better than it?

I held my oral (which happened to be the final exam for this level) Examination on Qur'ān Memorization, Hifdh yesterday at the Jaamiah and it was quite a laudable one. It's been quite a while I held such direct interview on Qur'ān/Memorization last.

I had rushed down from one of the classes at AQOC Kiddies for the exam.

I was to be the examined on 2 Juz'u which was the Muqoror (Syllabus) for the semester. I was issued 2 questions from each Juz'u which I recited as better as I could. Alhamdulillah.

So after the examination, our Lecturer, Dr. Muhammad Shaheeyn commented:

قراءة ممتازة ممتعة. ما شاء الله وبارك الله فيكم يا عثمان!
(Beautiful recitation. Baarokalloh Feekuum, dear Uthman. You've really tried and you recited nicely)

"آمين وفيكم يا دكتور. شكراً"
(Aamin wa Feekuum dear Doctor. Thank you). I responded smiling and blushing 😊

Then the Doctooor had to ask: "كم تحفظ من القرآن يا عثمان "

(How much have you memorized from the Qur'ān, dear Uthman?)

I responded: اكملت الحفظ يا دكتور لكن منذ سنين

(I completed my memorization of the Qur'ān dear Doctoor, although, some years ago)

Doctoor: ما شاء الله. الله يبارك فيكم يا عثمان. (That's great. May Allah bless you, dear Uthman).

Me: آمين وانتم فضيلة الدكتور (Aamin and you too sir, honored doctor).

Thereafter, the doctor advised me on 2 things. First, to continue to intensify my Tilaawah/Murojaah (continuous recitation and revision of the Qur'ān) and MORE IMPORTANTLY benefitting people especially the citizens of my country with the little I have known of the Qur'ān by teaching them how to read and also memorize it.

Then he asked:
"من اي بلاد انت يا عثمان؟"
(Which country are you from Uthman?)
"انا نيجيري"
"I'm a Nigerian" I replied

"ما شاء الله! نيجيريا بلاد مبارك"
"Maa sha Allah. Nigeria is such really a blessed country!"

He then informed me of how majority of those that are offering the Virtual Degree Program of the University have been Nigerians and how they have actually been impressively doing well.

He then asked of whether I presently reside in the country or outside. I told him I live in Nigeria. Then he said I shouldn't forget the 2 other advices he gave me anywhere I find myself.

I appreciated the doctor for his love and kind words, and the advice and encouragement too. I prayed for him.

He then finally granted me the permission to leave and asked me to call on the next student to come up for his exam.

May Allah bless the Doctor . The commendation and the words of encouragement and the recommendation he gave me were something I wasn't really expecting at all.

But somehow, it appears my performance impressed him and he acknowledged it and commended me for that.

Somehow, those words made me feel loved and honored. It boosted my morale and made me happy 😊 and lovely 😍

And for the second time in history I was PROUD TO BE AN AFRICAN, A NIGERIAN🥰

(Don't ask me of the 1st time, I was😊)

This is the Take Home:

Teachers should learn to appreciate and commend their students when they did well and impressive in their studies. We should learn to SINCERELY acknowledge and if possible, reward our students when they are hardworking and perform impressively well. It makes them feel better, loved, happy, worthy and also motivate them to do better in the nearest future.

Many a student gave up on their scholarly and excellent pursuit because of lack of encouragement, and demotivation from their teachers, parents and the society at large.

I ask Allah to increase us in beneficial knowledge. Aamin.

REVIVING ACQUAINTANCE WITH THE QUR'ĀN

I recently came across an inspiring quote by Ibn Taymiyah about reading the Qur'ān, shared by a Qur'ān tutor. It deeply moved me to the point where I penned a lengthy response, tears streaming as I typed. May Allah guide us to His Word once again.

Allow me to share the quote, along with my reaction (now slightly refined), in the hopes that it resonates with you as well.

What did Ibn Taymiyah say?

Ibn Taymiyah said:

"I have not seen anything that feeds the mind and soul, and protects the body, and ensures happiness more than consistently looking through the Book of Allah Ta'ala" [ Al-Fatawah 7/493]

Indeed, this holds true wallohi! It's been tried and tested. Yet, when the solace, joy, peace, and tranquility that the Qur'ān provides begin to elude us, or when merely picking up the Mushaf feels like a challenge, it's clear that something is amiss... something is wrong somewhere.

Regrettably, these days, even those who were once acquaintants with the Qur'ān, revered for their dedication to its verses through memorization, are grappling with inertia, struggling to engage with its pages.

Alas! these days, majority of those that are often used to be regarded as the companions of the Qur'ān due to their fervent relationship with the Qur'ān by memorizing it, are now becoming lazy and finding it difficult to open the Mushaf, look into the Qur'ān and read!

Pause and reflect: when was the last time you traversed the entire Holy Qur'ān from cover to cover, dear Hafidh and Haafidho of the Qur'ān?

And when did you last review your memorization?

I mean, when last did you complete the Tilaawah of the Holy Qur'ān from pali-pali (cover to cover) Ya Hafidh and Haafidho of the Qur'ān?

When last did you revise your memorization of it?

Businesses, parties, and worse still, excessive movie-watching have now supplant the priority given to the Qur'ān by some of us.
Music, in its various forms, has also found companionship with many.

You are called an Haafidh and Haafidho but are now finding it difficult to open the Mushaf to read from it. You can't spend 15-20 minutes uninterrupted without dozing off on it!

Unbeknownst, Allah's Word is slipping away from your grasp, and this doesn't evoke sorrow?

Allah is chasing and separating you away from His Word, and you didn't feel bothered or troubled?!

The only relationship left, have some haafidh and Haafidho with the Qur'ān is the opportunity of teaching it for 2/3 hours to some students on or offline in one or two Madrasahs.

And now you're bewildered by the transformations in your life?

The cause of the decline, dissatisfaction, and humiliation that surround you?!

I guess it's high time we revived our relationship with the Qur'ān!

It's high time we introspect and rejuvenate our relationship with the Book of the Almighty.

نحن قوم أعزنا الله بالقرآن فمهما ابتغينا العزة فى غيره أذلنا الله!

We are a nation whom Allah has honored through the Qur'ān (he favored us with the memorization of His Book and becoming companions of it, thus we became people of honor and respect everywhere we go). Any endeavor to seek honor elsewhere shall lead to nowhere but our debasement.

Says He Azza Wa Jal:

"لقد أنزلنا إليكم كتابا فيه ذكركم". قال عبد الله بن عباس وغيره: أي فيه شرفكم

"Verily, We have sent down a Book that contains your 'Dhikr'".

Abdullah ibn Abbas and others elucidate: "Dhikr" here signifies "Honor."

In essence, a Bookin which therein, is your TRUE HONOR.

O our Lord! Remove our names from the list of those who have deserted your Word, the Qur'ān! As the Prophet would lament:

"يا رب إن قومى اتخذوا هذا القرآن مهجورا"
"O Lord, my people have forsaken this Qur'ān"

Return us back to your Word in a beautiful return Ya Allah!
Unto You we have come in repentance Ya ALLAH!!!! Ya dhal-Jalaali wal-Ikram!!!!

Meet Abdul-Muiz, a dedicated part-time student at AQOC Kiddies. He attends classes only during his school holidays, making the most of his holiday to progress in his Quranic and Islamic studies.

The last time he was in class with us at AQOC Kiddies was since last year November or so (if I'm not mistaken) with few chapters left to complete the memorization of Juz'u Amma.

I remember the joint Murojaah class of an Hizb from Juz'u Amma then he held together with the Full time kids.

However, recently, as soon as he completed his exams, his mother called me:

"Ustaadh, Abdul-Muiz just completed his exams last week and I would like him to be equipped and occupied with his Qur'ān/Islamic classes before he resumes to school again".

We discussed and agreed on the days and time for class and the Commitment Fees and we started the following week.

After approximately 10 days in class, I'm thrilled to share Abdul-Muiz's remarkable progress. He has not only completed and revised the hifdh of Juz'u Amma but also successfully memorized Surah Tabaarokah and significant number from the Hadīth of the Prophet.

As at time of submitting this video, he had Memorized just 12 Hadīth. But now he has memorized up to 28. Allahumma Baarik Feeh.

Play the video, learn some of the teachings of the Prophet.

Alhamdulillah.

Mrs. Adeoye Mutiat Omolara Abdullah⁩ finally completed her Muroja'ah of Juz'u Mujaadilah last 2 weeks and succesfully held her Juz'u Exam passing with an excellent mark of 95%.

It is necessary to note that this was after spending approximately a year memorizing the said Juz'u. It was a very serious battle between on and off. But then, she won eventually. Alhamdulillah.

Undoubtedly, the progress may have seemed slow, but it is crucial to remember that any motion, no matter how gradual, is better than no motion at all.

Allahumma Baarik Feehaa.

This is a call on everyone as well that has already set a the goal of memorizing the Qur'ān (a very significant and substantial part if not the whole of it) not to relent and relax; keep striving.

It is not usually an easy task I must confess to you and be realistic. But then we should have the strong determination that no matter what the challenge is, the goal would be achieved in sha Allah.

Recently, one of our mothers (who is a PhD holder lecturing in one of the foremost universities, in Southwest) offering the Tahfeidh Program asked to never mind how she has been paying her monthly Commitment Fees despite her being away from classes for months. She said it is the way she has chosen to 'penalize' herself for being absent in her Tahfidh classes with the excuse of tight schedules. Memorizing the Qur'ān remains her life goal but she hasn't been having an enough time which she believes is not sufficient enough an excuse. She asked me to keep remembering her in prayer for Allah to make it easy for her!

This is the least type of determination you can have!

We must be intentional when it comes to pursuing our dream.

May Allah ease the Qur'ān for us.

May Allah bless Mrs. Adeoyo Mutiat Omolara and make subsequent Ajzaa an easy one for her too.

Resumed classes FULLY with the students of AQOC yesterday and it was happy moments. Especially from the Kiddies Section. Our Kiddies at the highest class fully began Tajweed as a Course/Subject this Term, commenced the memorization of new Juzu'u. They also began taking Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence). It was a joyful moment.

You don't want to see my friend, Sheikh Abdurahman (yes, the same Abdurahman you saw his video "struggling" to spell & join words together 2 months ago) as he was reeling off surah Al-Bayiinah confidently from memory in class yesterday.

Su'ud joined the institute barely 2 months ago. He would be completing the memorization of a Hizb from Juz'u Amma soon. Maa sha Allah. Alhamdulilah. May Allah bless them all.

Tried to mark the exam scripts of some of the Arabiyyah students, the works gave me goosebumps 🥰❤️

May Allah continue to bless Alhusmany Qur'aanic Online Classes - Aqoc
