Yesterday's night, Governor Monday Okpebholo had the privilege of joining thousands of Christian faithful at the NSPPD Nigeria Prayer Conference in Lagos, led by Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International Church.

It was a powerful time of prayer, worship, and intercession—not just for Nigeria, but for our beloved Edo State.

Governor Okpebholo believes that governance is not just about policies and projects; it is also about seeking divine direction to serve the people with wisdom, integrity, and compassion.

The Governor is reminded of the admonition encapsulated in the scriptural refrence in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which says, "pray without ceasing." Thus, yesterday's night was a reaffirmation that prayer remains the foundation for transformation.

As an unapologetic born-again christian, the Governor is confident that as he lift Edo State to God, He will grant him the grace to lead with excellence, uphold righteousness, and take the State to greater heights.

Yesterday, Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Idahosa, inspected ongoing repairs on the Benin-Sapele-Warri road and were pleased with the progress made so far.

This critical road, which had suffered years of neglect, is now receiving much-needed attention under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

Mr Governor commended Mr. President for his commitment towards fixing this vital route, which will ease movement and boost economic activities for Edo people and residents.

Indeed, Edo State is on a path of transformation and Governor Okpebholo will continue to ensure that the people of the State enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Governor Okpebholo will keep monitoring the progress of this project and others across the State to ensure their timely completion.

Edo is rising, and Governor Okpebholo is poised to building a State that works for all.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhllor, stated that the old law was repealed to provide for a stiffer punishment for cultists and their sponsors.

The statement reads, “It is hereby announced for the information of the public that the Edo State Secret Cult (Prohibition Law) 2018 has been repealed by the Edo State House of Assembly.

He added, “Section 12 of the Law clearly states that, ‘Any person being a cultist under Section 4, who assaults, injures, maims, or kills any person (s) or destroy any property in furtherance of the activities of any secret cult, is guilty of an offence and is liable to 21 years imprisonment without an option of fine and in the case of any fatality, the perpetrator(s) shall be liable to death upon conviction and any properties in his name as well as his place of residence shall be confiscated and demolished by the State Government.

“The general public is, by this notice, advised to be guided and desist from acts inimical to the peace, growth and development of Edo State.

Governor Okpebholo receives in audience 14 members of Edo State House of Assembly denied inauguration into the 7th Assembly.

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on Thursday granted audience to the 14 members of the Edo State House of Assembly who were denied inauguration into the 7th Assembly by former Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The group, known as the G-14, visited the Governor at the Government House in Benin City.

During the meeting, the G-14 congratulated Okpebholo on his successful inauguration as the 6th civilian Governor of the state and expressed gratitude for his appointment of one of the member of the group, Hon. Gani Audu, as Chief of Staff.

Governor Okpebholo acknowledged the G-14's dedication and loyalty to the party and emphasized the importance of legislative representation in a democracy.

He criticized the previous administration's action of denying the G-14 members their rightful representation in the Assembly, stating that such an act was a significant blow to democracy.

The Governor assured the group that his administration would protect democratic processes and prevent such actions in the future.

Additionally, Okpebholo conveyed greetings from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who appreciated the G-14's loyalty to the party.

With utmost humility and profound gratitude, I write to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as Akpako-rescue, for his implicit confidence in my abilities to serve as his Special Adviser on Communication, Strategy, and Media Projects.

Clearly, this political portfolio was deliberately created because, by its nature, it is novel in the history of political appointments in our state and nation.

For finding me worthy to be appointed to manage this high-profile portfolio without lobbying for it, is a clear demonstration of His Excellency's policy of building leaders of tomorrow and giving them the platform and opportunity to maximize their potential and showcase their talents and intelligence.

Governor Okpebholo's historic first week in office and the pains of Edo PDP

Since the newly elected governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo assumed office, there's been a new lease of life for the people of the state. This is evident in the people-centric decisions that Governor Okpebholo has taken so far.

Without an iota of doubt, Governor Okpebholo's first week in office is a game-changer in the state's governance and development trajectory.

His historic flag-off of Edo State's first flyover bridge and rapid commencement of key infrastructure projects like road rehabilitation and school improvements and his prompt appointments and decisive actions, such as banning exploitative market unions, further underscore his commitment to practical governance.

After one week in the saddle, Okpebholo declared to the lawmakers in the State House of Assembly and the Permanent Secretaries; "I am here to build Edo, therefore, we have a lot of work to do."

Thus, to the amazement of his political detractors, Governor Okpebholo embarked on project monitoring which his one week old administration has initiated, namely; rehabilitation of Upper Mission Extension Junction by Oando Filling Station in Aduwawa, Ekenwan Barrack Road, Benin-Ekpoma express road by Obadan junction and Army check point, and Ebomisi Community Primary School in Ovia North East LGA.

Governor Okpebholo's leadership is a stark departure from his predecessor's administration, emphasizing his action-oriented approach. This is seen in his prompt announcement of his first set of appointments within 48hrs after his inauguration which is a clear indication that he was well-prepared for the office.

For many reasons in his one week old administration, Governor Okpebholo is celebrated as the first Governor to flagged-Off the first Flyover Bridge in Edo State, the first Governor to announce his first set of appointments within 48hrs of assumption of office, the first Governor to boldly placed ban on market unions that are responsible for the exploitative and arbitrary humanly induced costs of staple foods in markets across Edo State.

Without fear of contradistinction, the achievements of Governor Okpebholo in just one week in office is historic and a clear betrayal of the thoughts and expectations of his political traducers who during the governorship electioneering campaigns sponsored all sorts of propaganda and falsehoods against him in the media.

Thus, I wasn't surprised to read the ourbust against Governor Okpebholo's widely celebrated giant developmental strides by the ousted former Commissioner of Information, Chris Nehikhare, who have gone back to be the Publicity Secretary of the moribund Edo PDP. Clearly, his criticism is fueled by political frustration rather than substantive concerns.

As usual, the failed ex-commissioner who couldn't fix the road that led to his family house in Evboehighae village, Orhionmwon LGA while in government, accused Governor Okpebholo of kicking off his administration with white elephant projects to funnel resources to settle godfathers.

I understand that the ex-commissioner is terribly pained that what his boss, former Governor Obaseki, couldn't achieve in 8 years in office, Governor Okpebholo has achieved it in one week in office.

I wish to emphatically state to the chagrin of Chris Nehikhare, that Governor Okpebholo will not be an MOU Governor like his former boss.

Governor Okpebholo will work night and day for the entire people of Edo and its residents on whose pleasure he serves as the Executive Govenor of the State.

Governor Okpebholo will fellow stricto sensu the extant laws in the course of serving Edo people. He will not behave like Nehikhare's ex-boss who was cheering picking the law to adhered to or court judgement to obey.

Governor Okpebholo's singular mission is to build Edo State and make it a choice destination for investors and tourists in West Africa.

This patriotic vision cannot be derailed by the jaundiced vituperations of a defeated ex Commissioner of Information.

Press Statement!

Re: Ahead of Inauguration: Akpakomiza signs a $45.21m MoU with a Chinese Bank to build flyovers in Benin City.

-Their lies and mischief has no end!

We wish to draw the attention of the general public to the mischievous publication, which is speculating that the winner of the 21st November governorship election in Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo was in talks with a Chinese agency to obtain a loan of $45.21 million to execute the construction of three flyovers in Benin city.

Ordinarily, we would not have bothered to react to such distractions but since our investigation has revealed that the report was actually orchestrated by those still licking their wounds from the recent defeat, we are constrained to put the record straight.

The Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on invitation, was in the office of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria in Abuja when the photograph they are now sharing on internet was taken. The Governor-elect was not on a mission to sign any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China-Exim Bank for loan as dubiously claimed in the said publication.

Understandably, as Governor-elect, Senator Okpebholo is not in any official capacity recognized by law to obtain any loan on behalf of Edo State, rather, he is working on how to offset the numerous loans obtained by the outgoing administration without any correlating development.

The Governor-elect being a realist, will not build his administration on MOUs, and neither will he become another MoU Governor of Edo State.

The agents of the outgoing administration and members of the defeated PDP that are spreading false rumours about the Governor-elect should focus on the transition process, which in any case they are working tirelessly to truncate.

The Governor-elect will not take advice from those who have failed and mortgaged the future of Edo people over the past 7 years. The Governor-elect will not be a looter of public funds as Governor of Edo state, rather, he will judiciously manage the resources that belongs to Edo people to develop Edo State.

Instead of resorting to promotion of lies and falsehoods against the Governor-elect, we expect the mischief makers to be apologizing to the good people of the State while undergoing penance for their atrocities. We expect them to confess their sins and seek for forgiveness from the people of Edo State, whom they have traumatized financially, mentally, and otherwise in the past 7 years!
